  1. Hope he remembered to include his watch collection this time.
  2. You're telling me, I was fined many years ago by the Highway Police for doing so, made to overload the cabin by squeezing everybody inside. While they were checking my driving license, my wife pointed out a number of Thai's driving past with people in the back, the response was "We don't see them", presumably no money to be made by stopping them, witnessed by the fact that no receipt was given for fine payment.
  3. The Personal Allowance is 12,570 GBP, and if you have to pay tax after an increase it will only be on the amount over 12,570 GBP and at a rate of 20%. E.G. if pensions totaled 13,000 GBP the calculation would be. 13,000 less 12,570 equals 430 taxable 430 by 20% equals 86 GBP tax so would still be 344 GBP better off, to say they would be worse off is totally incorrect, they would not be as well off as they might have been. Don't get me wrong, as a pensioner myself, I am not condoning the taxation of pensions (either state or private, by either UK or Thailand) my personal opinion is that pensions of any category should be tax free.
  4. I think 2000. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frozen_state_pension Yet the main article states, Are we in the year 2070, by god I'm aging better than I thought.
  5. I only have income in the UK (paid into an offshore bank and transferred from there) plus Thai bank interest, which is subject to Thai tax withholding. They consists of State Pension, Private Pension and an annuity from an old Company pension. I do not intend to take over any monies that could make me liable for significant Thai tax annually, leaving the remainer to be handled under inheritance rules, but will still need to submit details. Can you please advise which declaration form I should use PN90 or PN91, I'm confused on this matter.
  6. The answer will be the same, we don't do that, I know a few that have tried for varying reasons and been given that specific response, stopped about the same time as they stopped doing income letters.
  7. if your from the UK the answer will be NFC we don't do that
  8. is that to be drawn before or after a skinful, as it always takes twice as long to find your way home after a session
  9. Why don't they issue us with ankle tracker devices, that way they would know where we are all the time, doing away with the need for TM30 and TM47 (90 day) reports.
  10. Using an NT (CAT as was) internet connection in Phetchabun, I have no end of trouble watching UK/US TV series' on an IPTV box, the rest of the family are watching Thai TV or playing games I'm the only one affected. Found out during a speed check NT are using a 3BB server in Nakhon Sawan as one of their connection hubs. Have no trouble watching live channels from Australia.
  11. Until it starts to predict what you may do in the future, see movie "Minority Report"
  12. I know it's Jomtien as you say, but I still don't understand the delay. I've used 4 different offices for annual retirement extensions and all of them approved on the spot and stamped the passport accordingly. Normally only takes about 30-40 mins in the office. Also with a Non-B and work permit, extension approved and passport stamped all in one 30-40 minute visit.
  13. Retirement is simply 50+ (correct provided you can meet the financial requirements) Not working in TH (correct) Unless having a permit to do (then you won't be on retirement as the labor office will not issue you with a Work Permit - been there and done that)
  14. I left UK at 48 with enough contributions to be able to obtain my full State Pension, wasn't my fault they changed the scheme criteria on me
  15. I thought they were no longer allowed to use names which implied they were superior to anybody else
  16. maybe I need to get a new phone to get my second BB account added to mobile banking, my branch has told me (and backed up by other posters here) that foreigners can only have one account.
  17. Not only in the UK,in Thailand also. witness a certain political figure in Thailand recently
  18. Good question and if so which NI number was he using for DWP Peter Smith or Richard Burrows, did he ever have to do "Proof of Life" certificates, and were HMRC taxing his private pensions if any (or at least assessing him for tax). If my brain was younger I could probably think of quite a few more areas with question marks, the system does appear to have failed in his account.
  19. Better still stay at home and eat risky Chinese food, than come to Thailand to eat risky Thai food and then complain that the food HE chose gave him problems.
  20. Rightly or wrongly I count it from the extension expiry date, in my case 29 April, so therefore 29 May (30 days), 29 June (31 Days), 29 July (30 days) so total of 91 days, in case months are being counted as 31 days each it's safe to move on August 1, by doing so I had no issue with my local office 3 days ago for my annual extension. I personally think it should be from the approval date not from the expiry date, but is it worth the potential problem next year for a few days this year.
  21. Poster asked what is options were, so I gave him an answer that avoided the need to leave the country to get a fresh visa.
  22. It was normal for mine with Viraya Insurance, went to office every year to pay and every year they took photos of the car
  23. You have to leave when your employment ends. Nope, when my contract terminated, with the schools help I got my WP cancelled, and then applied same day for a "Retirement" extension. Did not need to leave the country, and have now had 5 subsequent retirement extensions without leaving.
  24. For the same reason they are not required to show money in bank or foreign income every year to Immigration. Fallang husbands can work provided they are actually married and can get a work permit.
