  1. The second that the Revenue Department grabs some retiree Farang in the village and throws him into a Thai prison, thousands of Farangs will be scrambling to fill out tax forms.
  2. My opinion is that the Revenue Department will do the necessary auditing right after the high speed rail from Don Meaung to Rayong is complete.
  3. My feeling is that the answer is no. But, it's possible.
  4. Your understanding of how the US tax treaty with Thai works is not correct. In general, you can offset US tax paid against required payments for Thai tax. But even if you pay taxes in the US, there may still be a Thai tax liability. You would have to complete a Thai tax form to know for sure.
  5. Thailand taxing more Farangs means that HiSo can pay less tax.
  6. Credit cards go through a Thai clearinghouse, and transactions can be reported to the Revenue Department.
  7. For those with Work Permits, the new rules won't impact them much, they are already paying taxes. The new rules impact Farangs who don't earn income within Thailand.
  8. Given that we are almost in June, you need to leave Thailand soon.
  9. Tax treaties help, but you need to fill out a tax form to take advantage of the tax treaties. And the tax form may or may not accommodate deductions allowed by tax treaties.
  10. Ummm... The point of the new rules is to make the money you bring into Thailand from your home country taxable, such as bank transfers, ATM withdrawals, and the like.
  11. That is my goal for 2024. I've already missed 4 months out of Thailand this year. My plan is to monitor visa renewals and also look for signs that the RD is seeking out tax evaders. If that happens in 2025, then I will continue to spend less than 180 days in Thailand.
  12. 100s of 1000s of Farangs have non-O retirement visas, and many live in the village, not much contact with news sources. Those who have renewals in December will be the last to be impacted by the new tax laws, next year. Immigration doesn't have much to do with the Revenue Department, but they do have the retiree's bank book at visa renewal time.
  13. Russian disinformation sites linked to former Florida deputy sheriff, research finds In an interview, Darren Linvill, co-director of the Watt Family Innovation Center Media Forensics Hub at Clemson, called Dougan “a tool of the broader Russian disinformation machine” whose websites “are just one of several mechanisms by which these narratives are distributed.” Linvill noted the fake news websites had lately veered away from the narrow focus of undermining support for Ukraine. Recent fake articles include the false claims that the FBI wiretapped former President Donald Trump’s office at Mar-a-Lago, his estate in Florida, and that the CIA backed a Ukrainian plot to rig the election against Trump.
  14. Best not to draw a conclusion until and unless you have seen all the videos showing the confrontation from start to finish.
  15. A lot of Farangs in the village have no clue about this.
  16. I don't know much about Thai tomboys, but I didn't know they were taking drugs. Lots of men take testosterone, do they have the same problem?
  17. Trying to label Starmer as an extremist is a joke. He's just a party loyalist, supporting the party leader. In the UK, taking on the job of PM means that your reputation is ruined - every PM in this century is pretty much reviled, and Starmer will be no different when he is done. Hopefully, he lasts longer than a head of lettuce.
  18. Trump is just a victim. Everyone is lying about him. The Prosecution is inventing crimes to put Trump in jail. Joe Biden is behind all these indictments. Or, Trump is guilty.
  19. Even you know that refugees are not allowed to vote. It seems that you are prepping your excuses why Trump will lose in November ("the refugees that Biden brought in voted for Biden").
