  1. Big problems for me. I have a home on soi Chaiyaphruk about 10 metres from 2nd road towards the beach. Now it is easy to get there from either sukemvit or 2nd road but now I will have to look at my house as I drive past and do a huge detour to soi watboon, back along beach road then up soi chaiyaphuk to get to a few yards from where I was in the first place! This will also cause the same problems for people who live in the housing estate on the corner with Chaiyaphruk and 2nd road.

Not sure what you mean? You think Chaiyaphruk will be one way? Nobody said that.

  2. Since we're speculating anyway now, I think they are trying to get people arriving on visa exempt to convert to non-immigrant visa. The reasoning is probably that these people are entering often and are living in Thailand, so should be on non-immigrant, not visa exempt.

An easier way then would be to come back to the old

"No more than 180 days/years in Thailand without an non-Imm visa"

  3. <deleted> if I'm going to stand in line at my embassy or sit waiting with a ticket in my hand at Jomtien when I can pay an agent a couple thousand baht more to do it all for me. While you cheap Charlie clowns are hanging around Thai immigration offices being treated as "Aliens" I'm sitting around the pool with a pooying & an icy-cold beer paying someone else to do it all for me...55555

    - no everyone need a letter from is Embassy

    - for those who need one, not all Embassies require someone to go in their office. You can by example ask and get this letter by mail.

    - queue in Jomtien for Retirement extension is nearly none; your beer probably would still not be warm wink.png

BTW I never been called "Alien" at Immigration...??

  4. Complaints:

its about 400 m from Beach Road to Second Road.

So by theory up to 800 m to reach the corner of the Soi 50 m north,

Very few connections between the Sois.

Why would you want to go take your baht bus on 2nd Rd when you are on Beach Rd?

Just take the first bahtbus on Beach Rd. He will go South a bit but then will go North to Pattaya

  5. Aluminum windows/doors with sliding locks aren't very secure even it they do lock! Thieves know how to open them by just lifting the window/door up from the track. Have an expert aluminum window/door person to show you. Rotating hook locks are better.

Yes & No: Only true in some cheap Thai installations.

Yes you "lift" each window to put it in its frame, but then there is shim/spacer to attach on the top of each window to avoid the window to go out the frame, by accident or intrusion attempt. smile.png

Also if you have large doors with good glasses, each door can be very heavy. Good luck to lift it when closed wink.png (Mines with PVC frame are 85 kg each)

  6. If that is the case, there's a lot of rubbish being spread on this forum by people & also language school owners about it being now 8hrs/week.

Hi. I had a short talk with one of my ex-teacher yesterday. She teaches in 2 schools in Pattaya.

She told me nearly nothing changed for students. It's still 180 lessons/year and most of them choose 2x2 lessons/week => 45 weeks, about 1 year. A few ones prefer 4x2 lessons/week.

There are apparently changes for the school though, with lot of more papers to fill or ask than a few years back.

  7. the police said several times that dna from 3 separate men were taken,

so far, they onluy matched 2

No. Please learn the difference between "three" and "third" wink.png

The Police said (in this famous video) that they found the DNA of "a third person".

But the 1st person was the guitarist (who left early) and the 2nd person the other of the 2 suspect.

They always said 2 different DNA (only) found on bodies.
