  1. Actually there is one part of Thai driving that I find very strange so may be I could ask why here. Now not all Thais but most drive way to fast and too close the the vehicle in front. But when they stop at traffic lights they pull away like old grannies as if they don't know what the accelerator pedal is for. When ever I have found myself in pole position I can accelerate away at a normal rate. I don't mean foot to the floor. Just l pull away normally. After a few seconds and I look in my mirror the cars that were behind me are a hundred metres behind me. Then after a few minutes they come flying past me 120 kpm nose to tail. Why do they drive soooooooo slowly when accelerating away from lights then drive like morons at high speed?
  2. Funny you should say that. When I go to Thailand I drive responsibly but after a while have been cut for the hundredth time by an undertaking speeding idiot I do start to adopt their bad habits.
  3. Who would have thought. Thailand with just about the worst, most inconsiderate drivers in the World criticising foreign drivers. There is nothing more pitiful that watching a Thai ambulance with blue lights flashing being deliberately being held up by inpatient Thai drivers.
  4. In an "unexpected" incident. I would say that it was entirely expected.
  5. Making them legal would be a mockery and an insult to people like me that had to jump through hoops to bring a spouse to the UK. I think given the option they would remain illegal and not pay any tax.
  6. More like 800,000 to 1.2 million. https://jcwi.org.uk/resource/who-are-the-uks-undocumented-population/
  7. Yes quite a 5h1te hole now. I don't understand why so many migrants wants to come here.
  8. Why do you assume that I assume that the current administration is concerned about sequential visa runs? There was a comment about people abusing the system. I was commenting on the comment that working within the current visa regulations was abuse.
  9. If the system allows you to do it then it is not abuse. If Thailand doesn't want sequential border runs then do something about the system.
  10. My thought as well. How does having to pre-book flights and accommodation differ from applying for a visa? The whole beauty of visa exempt is you can just up and go. Now you will have to risk booking the flight and hope the ETA is approved and approved in a timely manner and have a day by day itinenary to know where to pre-book accommodation. I remember during the covid restrictions desperate people due to fly the next day and still waiting for visa approval. No thank you.
  11. Which Nationals get 90 day visa exempt? And an over stayer.
  12. Dead easy to tell a Thai from Chinese. Now Korean from Japanese I find difficult.
  13. In a work situation, in the UK at least, ladders are effectively banned. They are only considered for working at height if there is no other safer method available. And a risk assessment is required. Perhaps they should be banned in diy.
  14. In the UK there is a move to try and ban fireworks but there hasn't been public fatality from fireworks since 1997. There were 16 deaths from dogs in 2023 alone. Shows how powerful the dog owning lobby is.
  15. I thought thought that was what snakehead did?
  16. Other tilapia are safely contained in farms. Does flooding never occur in Thailand?
  17. Just read this on the BBC https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cjjw9e077d8o about blackchin tilapia. May be the blackchin is a different species but I thought tilapia had been in Thailand a lot longer than 14 years and were a good fish farm as it made good eating. As I said may be a different species. Can anybody clarify for me?
  18. Ten died building the Channel Tunnel. Eight of them were British so what does that tell you?
  19. Easily done. I had to send some papers to somebody in Bangkok and they never arrived. Well not immediately. They did turn up several months later having gone to Taiwan.
  20. I have just been watching a Youtube video about this drone. It mentions the UK designing and manufacturing the drone with partner countries showing a Turkish and a Thai flag. The video goes on to talk about a UK company working in collaboration with a Turkish company that makes drones. But no mention of any involvement with Thailand. Seems an odd thing for Thailand to be involved with. Was this for real or was the wrong flag used in the video?
  21. That is why I was asking. She made it sound that it was some sort of etiquette issue. Clearly that is not the case. I have only ever been in situation where you tip one person. I did think that the 50 baht to the waitress was over generous.
  22. Good point.
  23. At a restaurant I will usually just give them the small change, unless the service was exceptional. But have noticed that often make up the change with excessive amounts of 10 baht coins. A suggetsion may be?
  24. I just assumed the band were paid. It was't the amount as such it was the fact I gave a 100 to band, but 10 members and 50 to the waitress. She said both should have been the same but I dont see why.
