Today they report some 6000 cases, massive increase on what they were reporting last month - almost a 300% increase. The rate of increase over the past week has been very high too.
Still nowhere near the bad days of over 100,000 cases a day we had in January, but this growth is alarming. Thoughts and why this may be happening?

They've put so many restrictions against domestic tourists - but they could have made up these numbers.

Myanmar also has a problem with it's open border areas to parts of India.
As soon as Mayanmar became unstable, Thailand was going to get what was happening in India.
No coincidence that things started to go wrong as soon as Mynanmar became destabalised and India went crazy with it's numbers.

We are looking at the UK ciriculum - GCSE.
Budget is flexible - but nothing like some 400,000 baht some of these schools are quoting me ! And that 600,000 was one of the cheaper options ! I had one on the Riverside quote me 800,000 !
Ideally i'd like something like 150,000 a year or round about that. Somewhere with easy access to transport, bearing in mind we have one child for senior and one for junior.
We saw one of these crazy expensive schools and it was in the middle of nowhere, about 5 minutes from the airport !

I am beginning once again to look at schools in Bangkok. We live in the Sukhumvit area around Asok. Amongst our family we have a child in junior school and one in senior school. They are from the UK.
Is there any such thing as 'affordable international schooling' in Bangkok? The prices i am seeing are horrifically high.

There would be uproar in Thailand, if foreigners were getting vaccinated ahead of the old and frail Thai nationals - no matter the source. I am aware there are some Chinese getting vaccinated, but they don't count. lol

Few months ago, hit an Indian restaurant in Bangkok. Felt awful next day. Had the liquid diareeah bad, weakness and also chills. Only lasted a day. Diarreah remained off on for a week.

Technically he is incorrect.
If you vaccinated everyone in the world (I MEAN EVERY SINGLE HUMAN), including children, - you would eradicate it.
But yeah that's unlikely to happen. But still technically he is wrong.

So you are calling me a liar? Perhaps you are calling Pritti Patel a liar too? Why do you think the government are wanting to abandon self isolating in favour of quarantine hotels?
During my 10 day quarantine I went out shopping, had my first dose of vaccine, saw my GP, had a haircut, ate out several times and generally carried on life as normal. Had zero contact from anyone in authority. Started my quarantine on April 23rd.
And this is why the UK has one of the worst outcomes of any nation on this planet - partly due to selfish people like this poster.
More than 100 cases of the new strain have been identified across the country.
Known as VUI-21MAY-02 (C.36.3), the variant was first detected in Thailand in people who had travelled from Egypt, Public Health England confirmed.
It was designated as a variant under investigation on May 24 on the basis of the mutation profile and increased importation from a widening international area.
There is currently no evidence that this variant causes more severe disease or renders the vaccines any less effective.

They will get tourists - but no more than the domestic tourists that were already coming.

Not between April 7th when Pakistan and Bangladesh went on the red list and April 23rd when India finally went on the red list. The delay was to smooth the way for boris' aborted trade mission to India. Money before lives again.
But if India was not added to the red list, then how is it the fault of those Indians who returned?

Thousands of returnees from South Asia aren't.
Your evidence? At the moment, those coming from India, Pakistan are on the red list and going straight into quarantine.

If ur not registered with a GP ... be wary how your going to show any proof for future travel in Thailand or around the world.
The little card they give you will not be sufficient.

Why is this one company in sole charge of making the vaccine? The fact India also set one up making up Astra Zeneca and were producing months ago (albeit selling their vaccines abroad).
They might have just done better buying direct the companies, instead of attempting to home produce.

Good idea ! If only those border jumpers from other neighboring countries would adhere to that!
Are you telling me a country can't control it's borders?

2 of which, man and wife, managed to catch a train to Bang Saphan Noi, apparently not wearing masks! Then went to the family home of 5 members and then proceeded to go around the town and market. All of which has been closed off for disinfecting which started last night. The 2 concerned were picked up by Police and taken to hospital. It is thought that they were infected with Covid.
Unbelievable.

According to Phuket deputy governor, the province needs a proactive approach if it is to achieve its vaccination target and local leaders such as tambon chiefs and village heads will make door-to-door visits to urge the people to get vaccinated

This one isn't going away anytime soon - the Indian variant is far more transmissible than the older variants.
