  1. Those signed up will receive badges at the door. No badge, no party, sorry.

My +1 backed-out, and other friends who wanted to come were put off when I showed them the post above, so did not turn up as presumed it would be packed out and no room to move.

(I eat breakfast there and knew the venue is not that large, plus photos on their website showing partied overflowing onto the street)

  2. Please note that space is limited and we grant access on a first come first serve basis.

    181 are listed above.

BUT....... it is widely being advertised on "PattayaFM" / "Fabulous 103" radio station, so there will be a load more. I suspect it is going to be a tight fit.

I love their 99 Baht breakfast

I remember the party at Fairtex. That was a great party. Do we have to identify ourselves as we did there to get a badge?

  3. Looking at the photo, it appears the accident happened on the "Hard shoulder" of the road.

Maybe the container driver dropped off to sleep. Hope everybody recovers. You can always buy a new truck, but replacing a persioon is hard to do.

    Best wishes to both drivers

According to the radio news report on the radio, it said the accident happened as the container truck was PASSING in the FAST LANE. In the picture, the nearside hedge can be seen. Unless these photos were taken after the vehicles had been moved, but they still look intertwined.

  4. Remember when they proposed putting up the minimum age for a licence to 20, to cut down the fatalities on the road.

In reality, you stand outside many schools watching the police stopping the traffic, to let the early teenager on bikes out from the school onto the main roads, many without crash helmets.

Remember when the Culture Minister wanted all the drivers to stop at 6:00pm and stand (beside their vehicle) for the national anthem?

None of those two genius ideas case into being, after being announced (in the forum).

  5. Have to revamp his retirement plans. 200K ThB is only $6700 USD ... so not insurmountable. dam_n Thai wiring. Could be due to #3 Reject electric cable from China?

No 3 not far from the truth, I suspect. Friends internet went down and they called out TOT, Engineers found the electric wiring in the 6 year old house had disintegrated, and shorted across their wires. They replaced DSL with new surface wiring and now working again.

  6. Did you ask Amorn Electronic at Tukcom underground floor?

    http://www.amorngrou...ranch.php?id=29

I needed one a while ago for my old Samsung. Amorn did not have one, but I picked one up on Beach Road during one of their street market days, from a guy who had dozens on a tarpaulin on the pavement.

I had a problem with my LG Plasma 2 months ago. They were great at fixing it and cheap too (Main board, 2 service visits with 2 guys = 2600 Baht), but would not give any dates for the parts, which in fact came in 2 days later.

  7. cheaper to build another airport.

Plastering over the cracks of this bogbound airport is not the answer for the long term. Build a new one in a completely new location on solid ground and build it properly from day 1 with enough runways and passenger terminals et al. Try doing it without any fingers in the pie and see how much better it will be. After all; Bangkok will have sunk without trace in 50 years so why bother to try and save the airport?

The answer to BOTH questions is U-Tapao.

Wiki links: It is approximately 90 miles (140 km) southeast of Bangkok, near Sattahip on the Gulf of Siam. It is located south of route 3 (Thanon Sukhumvit) at km 189, about a 45 minute drive from Pattaya (Thailand's most popular beach resort)

"Although its runway can accommodate large aircraft, U-tapao's terminals are not designed to handle more than a few flights a day"..

The runway is already built (To US military standards). All they need is to build the terminals. They already have planned an extension to Motorway 7 which currently goes as far as Pattaya, and planning a high speed rail link from Bangkok to Rayong.

Phuket has its own airport, why not one for Pattaya, which is targeting the tourist growth in upmarket clientèle.

  8. Warning. I was a supporter of Tiger / SEAAir BUT...

Booked to fly out Sunday 1st. Got to airport and flight cancelled. No advance notice on my mobile by either a phonecall or SMS.

Put in Hotel overnight for free, but the hotel was in the middle of what seemed like an industrial estate, so nothing to do. They provided Supper, Breakfast and Lunch (That was the best meal).

Turns out there were also people from the previous day's cancelled or overbooked flight, so 2 coachloads of people set off for Suvarnabhumi.

Got there to find there were only 17 spare seats on the plane, and they were loading women and children's groups first.

There was a guy in the queue who had only booked his ticket 4 hours ago, but as confirmed ticket, he would be able to fly that day.

There was a lot of shouting (mostly from Westerners) who wanted onward connections. Most the Thais and Filipinos looked dejected but accepting, and wait their turn (This is Asia). There was no offered accommodation after the first night (Which is required by International Aviation Law).

There is no flight on Tuesdays, so next flight is Wednesday and there were only 28 seats available on that flight.

I decided to go back home and try flying another day, as only a holiday for me.

WARNING: There were too many to get on that flight by those who were waiting, yet when I got home, they were still offering seats on that flight on their on-line booking website.

Looking at their website, Tiger / SEAir operate A319's on that route with a capacity of 144 passenger per plane. (There are are 33 aircraft in Tiger group, inc 2 A319 for SEAir)

  9. Im still prowd of wearing my Pattaya Secrets T-Shirts ivé got from Larry! coffee1.gif

Me too. I have the Pattaya Secrets Anniversay T-Shirts from the past 3 years.

A 14 year old maid? The maid cleaning the toilets that I see is well over 41 (I think they reversed the numbers) and she has never once tried to see my John Thomas.

You all forget that YINGLUCK is coming to town. On the Car Radio today, the news was about the Police running round to round up drug dealers and show they were doing their job. Maybe the Bangkok Police were down to a day at the seaside and had to make it look like work.

Same thing happens in the Philippines when Hilary Clinton and her Chequebook are in town. The Crackdowns, usually with a "set-up" sting, using willing participents.

  10. Seems to me that somebody was putting something in the food or drink. Why wasn't this investigated after the first deaths typical Thai everything on the long finger or was the owner a government official or policeman bloody ridiculous sick ass-holes. Commiserations to the families of all deceased there R.I.P.

There was talk at the time about the use of a banned bug spray being used.

Around the same time, a Thai shopkeeper friend of mine in Pattaya lost his son. They said he was sleeping on the floor (thai style) and did not wake up. The boy was 21 years old, fit and healthy - played football, did not drink or smoke and worked in the shop. A truly nice and helpful boy he was.

Being Thai (we ask questions), the father was never told why he died. His wife just went to the temple in Bangkok to pray, and he shut up the shop and moved back to Bangkok.

    RIP for all families concerned.

  11. I have PI wife and her sister living with me. Never had to show money in pocket or in bank, but both have had problems with incompetent immigration officials in Clark with bogus requirements causing them to miss their planes, now neither of them will fly out of Clark but go to Manila.

DO NOT use Clark. Big problems about being bounced there. It is this month lead article in the Haarrythehorse dot com newsletter.

A Rotarian friend, who was was returning from visiting her parents in Cebu, transited at Clark and was refused permission to fly, as she was on the second half of a return ticket TO THAILAND, and not a Return ticket back to Philippinres. Also no proof of why she was issued her Thai ED Visa. Lost the flight and the money.

She bought a Return ticket CRK-BKK-CRK (High price as for next "Available" scheduled flight) and had the college confirmation papers emailed over, and she was able to ecape Clark after three days.

It always happens. If I go to a hardware shop, or anywhere in Thailand, with an Asian-looking person - the workers there invariably talk only to the Asian-looking person. It happens even when it becomes clear that other person has no sense of the business at hand. Many times I've said sternly to a Thai person (in Thai), "look at me. Listen to me. I'm the one you need to speak with." (or words to that effect). They're genetically incapable of dealing with a farang, if there's an Asian-looking person accompanying that farang. It would be funny, if it weren't so prevalent.

I had a friend who had a Filippino wife, and even when Thais were told she does not speak Thai, like in a restaurant, the waitress acknowledged that, then turn back and continued to try speaking Thai to her again.

  12. My first home computer was a Sanyo with 2 x 5.25' floppies, one for the program and one which stored the data. It ran on CPM I recall. Bought it from Morgan Comuters in London "Reduced from £1,500 to £199" and used it to produce a club newsletter and membership details.

Next was an AST 286 workstation and monitor bought at an auction, not realising it had no hard HDD or OS. Paid £245 for a 40 Mb IDE HDD.
