cannot see diana/ buakoaw/ lenkee on that list
That's prob. the worst.
I don't agree. Yes, it's total chaos, but somehow it works. People give way, and I have not seen injuries or damaged cars there.
The dangerous one is South and Suk. Yet another death/injury when someone thought they could beat the lights the other day. Followed by Suk and Klang, where they creep into to road waiting for the green light.
Edit: Typo

My Garmin 205 is 2-3 years old, and I normally leave it attached to the windscreen, as safe in my neighborhood (Moo Bahn) to do so.
Sometimes I am driving along and it falls onto the dashboard, and other days I find it there in the morning. Other times stays attached for days.
Any suggestions, or do you know if I can obtain a new rubbers sucker mechanism?
Same problem, but off GPS topic:
I bought a Fujiko Dash-cam 2-4 years ago, and that too falls off the windscreen after and hour or so. The annoying bit is a difficult method of fitting (Remove from bracket, unscrew pressure ring, align position, screw pressure ring 3 times (do again if not aligned correctly) the reattach camera to bracket and set pitch.
While there unit was wonderful for touring Thailand and videoing small villages as you pass through for a travelogue (which I never did), it does 8 hours continual filming before over writing the first frame.

coming soon - speed cameras! they just need to work out the speed limits on every road first...
They are already on the Motorway 7 and the elevated No 34, or at least the signs are.
Just imagine the revenue if they installed "Traffic Light Cameras", like they have in the UK. One yard over the white line and you are nailed.

"Meanwhile, a male transvestite was fined Bt500 yesterday for dancing topless at a party in Ayutthaya"
This must raise an interesting legal point. At what point does a man not wearing a shirt constitute a crime even if he has stuck a pair of fake breasts on his chest????
Does this mean they are going to start arresting all those Farang Bodybuilders in Pattaya that like to walk along without a shirt. Their boobs are as big as the ladyboys.
Sounds a good idea. 5555555

Always figured people were there for the models not cars.
OK, one of my photos for you:
Looks like some of these girls where from Kansas (Understood by older people who saw the original "Wizard of Oz")

What I don't understand is why so many people drive past 5 Isuzu dealers on their way to the motorshow so they can look at an Isuzu. We went there 2 years ago to buy but the deals weren't as good as a regular dealer. Am I missing something?
At the show you could "Look, touch, sit in and get a brochure" the vehicles, whereas down our way you are lucky if they even have the car in stock. And as for requesting a brochure, it was like asking for a free baht of gold.
And a selection of colours for some models.

Pattaya, where it goes on for a whole week.
The kid in the barrel made me laugh

I used to eat there are the food was great. The breakfast was one of the best in town.
But I have not been there for a couple of years, as out of my normal way..
Sad to see the standards have slipped so much. Walked past the other day, and no-one inside. Used to be busy. That must be the reason.

There has been "bad" things happening in Thailand since travelers first started coming here and pretty much everywhere else in the world too. This topic is just plain silly.
The world: My sister lives outside Washington, DC. When the Washington Sniper was in full killing spree, her friends asked why she was not afraid, to which she replied "If the bullet hits me, I will not know, if it misses me, I am alive" and reminded them she lived in London during the IRA bombing campaign.
As for Thailand, I have never felt unsafe, even when driving round the country on my own. Be vigilant and ALWAYS get out the way of buses (Coaches) on the road. The country road can be monotonous, mile upon mile of Paddy fields, but the places I see make it worth it. Most people I meet are poorer than me and many richer than me, but the all return the respect I show them. It is amusing to be in a rural village, and an old person will come up to to me and touch my skin, to see if the white will rub off!
I have visited Bangkok only twice in that past 3 years, once to collect visiting friends and last week to the motor show.
I live in Pattaya, as it has the best infrastructure for a "Western foreigner" - Good shops, food, people with whom I can talk my own language.
Rarely does a "Two Week Millionaire" get involved in any trouble you see reported in the press, apart for Jet Ski Scams. Our Walking Street is packed every night with both Men and women on the own (or in same gender group), visiting couples, families with children. They go for the vibrant atmosphere. Many nationalities. Some go in the bars and clubs, but not many.
I live in the main part of town, not the distant suburbs, but rarely go to Walking Street. I have my own friends I mix with and chat with, or stay in my house, where the water bill 100 Baht a month (In the UK it was 16 times that), Electric bill cheaper than the UK, and no heating bills.
I am a happy retiree who knows more people here than back in my home town, and have an active life including charitable work.

Anyone who lives here and cant last 3 days without a alcoholic drink has deep problems
I can do that with ease, and many days I drink soft drinks only, to help my liver not get worried.
The 3 day closure would be a serious effect of tourists over from Europe and elsewhere on the EASTER BREAK, which is almost the same time

Culture Minister Sukumol Kunplome
Isn't one of their bunch the mayor of Pattaya. I think this is definitely a case of barking up the wrong tree. They probably appreciate the advertising.
Remember the famous US Film Mogul who said:
"All publicity is good publicity, even bad publicity"
He also reputed to have said:
"I don't care what they say of me, as long as they spell my name correct"

Theerachon said the March 28 meeting would assign a multipleparty committee to oversee infrastructure and discuss such topics as repairs to lampposts; the installation of additional CCTV cameras at stadiums, mosques and public spaces; and putting electrical wires underground. If the joint projects ran smoothly, Bangkok would be more orderly by December 5, he said.
It would be great to see some wiring disappear underground. Especially the great massed coils of a hundred different wires they like to have resting on the metal railings of pedestrian bridges.
However, having Bangkok looking more orderly by December 5 seems VERY optimistic.
I cannot see which year is quoted. Just 5th December, which is a "Auspicious day" every year. (BTS, MRT, as example, started on 5th December)
(Rather like Council projects the in UK uses the tax year end, 4 APR, or start, as that is when budgets end or new ones start)

They should have arrested the people for taking photos. Had a shag in the sea at night, big deal, loads of us have done that. The cops should have given them a talking too and told them to get dressed, that would be enough, not allow one of these journo A holes to post their pics for all to see. Lack of judgement? Yes, should know better? Yes. Have we all done something a bit stoopid when "with drink"? Yes.
The story was in the "Pattaya Daily News", which does not surprise me. Any chance for a "News of the World" story and they are there in a nano second to publish an exposé.

Why do you think he was fake? Little paranoid are we?
"A guy dressed in a black uniform with gold epaulettes" sound more like a hotel Doorman or limousine tout, than an official in "Thai Official Brown", hence we call them lovingly BiB.
If he was wearing a "Uniform" why did he not have a name tag like everyone in the airport, from Immigration, Customs, Shop assistants right down the ranks to Toilet Cleaners.

Just posting this info on a PI web forum and spelt Swampy as "Suwanabhumi". My Spellchecker told me to correct it to "Subhuman"!.
It appears that the Firefox guys who create the dictionary have been to Thailand

Is this to hope the "Hopewell" project back on its feet? Been a lot about it in the press recently.
Hopewell is those 15 year old abandoned concrete pillars (1000+ according to the news story) you see near DM, that were meant to be the super transport system.
Maybe more money is going in the trough

i go through the Thai side with the wife, they always let me do that and its always quick
When I came through on the 22nd Feb, they were all open and no separate Thai channel. It still took 20-25 minutes, but I just chilled out and accepted it was all part of traveling these days.

the startling price of a cab will be maintained at 35 baht
Obviously some people are more easily startled than others.
You obviously have not tried to get a METER CAB in Pattaya. They refuse to even start the meter,
Thank Heavens there are still "Baht Buses here.
PS. I laughed at that word too.

Russian market, which is now the single largest source of inbound tourists to Phuket.
Wow must be a lot of Russians running phuket now
Just take a look round Pattaya these day. Russians everywhere and many Russian staffed clubs as well.
The Russiand are stranded here as well. See this article from Pattaya One (Also a ThaiVisa sponsor)
"The fallout from the collapse of the Russian Tour Company Lanta-Tour continues here in Pattaya with Police revealing that 341 Russian Tourists in Pattaya are currently without a return ticket to Russia."

Isn't this the same bank that Thai Visa has been pushing as the best bank for expats?? Oops.
This is why I do not buy products pushed on web forums, promoted purely for the commision that they gain from the sale.
Especially true when you consider that the article says it's an Asia-focused bank. Possibly the business climate in Thailand is not good enough for them to make enough money. Perhaps they will get a better return on investment elsewhere. e.g. China.
e.g. China: Most people forget that HSBC stood for "Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Company" (or Corporation) and was based in Hong Kong until HK was handed back to China many years ago, when HSBC shortened their name and relocated to The City (London banking area), where they already had a large banking presence due to the money markets.

I would recommend buying a Canon IJ printer if you replace your brother, because Canon Printheads can be taken out of the machine. Which means you can clean the PH. (In the UK, most IT shops sell print head cleaner. Over here they use a sonic bath)
I have a Canon Pixma 4200 which is about 4 years old and still going well.
I noticed that Photos were rubbish but normal printing was OK. Later discovered that there were 2 seperate sets of jets, and as I rarely used the photoprint option, that set of nozzles clogged up. Now working well again.

Wonderful video. Just sent the TV link to a friend in the UK who was (legally) working in Bangkok at the time, and is coming back for a holiday this year - 16 years later. The changes are just mind-blowing.
Many thanks for the Video.
