  1. Im in the Samoeng area if that makes any difference and have a dozen natural coconuts full of coconut water and I want to not only sprout them but get roots growing as well!

I have two that have 12” healthy sprouts but no sign of roots!

***I am not going to float them in salt water and bury them in beach sand!!

I’d really appreciate advice from anyone with actual experience growing coconuts!

ps: these are not dwarf variety

My 2 y/o nephew got into the wife's make-up (oil based?) and decided to leave his art work on the walls.  I already had Kitchen Magic clean degreaser from Makro and gave it a try, It removed most of the art work, now I just need to see if one coat of paint will be enough. ????

Thanks I’m a fan of Makro so I think I’ll give the Kitchen Magic a try

ive got a lot of space to do as it looks like kitchen dining and living rooms all need to be cleaned and painted!

This comes from normal Thai cooking and I’m not sure why we’re having this Aussie all of a sudden in the last six months!

We’re going to move the cooking back out to the summer kitchen I guess!

The products mentioned are sure to remove grease but so will most kitchen cleaning products.  That's what they do.  ????

Yes but they leave a film on the wall surface as well….not good

  4. We want to paint interior but have cooking oil smoke on the walls of our kitchen! I’m looking for a product to wash the greasy smoke off before I paint but tried two paint shops and they don’t seem to know what I’m talking about! They just suggested a primer… I will use a primer but can’t bring myself to roll it over this oil smoke!

In Canada we used a product called TSP specifically made for this job…it was a powder mixed with water if I remember correctly!
Does anyone know what I should buy here in Thailand

Haven’t noticed any problems with bugs as yet.

I grew a lot of them in Canada ???????? and they don’t seem to have natural enemies once you get them started nicely! I have heard of worms eating the bulbs when they’re first put in the ground so we planted them just before the winter frost….they survived the -20 degrees below nicely!
Keep me posted on how they’re doing and Thank You for the photos

well sometimes I can let rip privately with my infamous “ Simpsons Burp Trophy” (Buffalo Burp) effort inside my sealed house alone which nevertheless penetrates the glass windows and wooden shutters and “carries” 100 yards or so……

Yes….,there would be no doubt in my mind you’d live alone!

You almost sound proud of yourself….pretty immature ????

Now #8 on my Ignored Losers list….????

Yeah, it's a common courtesy to shower first. Pretty much a common rule most places.

Yes it’s is a rule all over the world…there are showers inside and outside for showering before you get in for hygienic reasons and to get the chlorine etc. off your skin afterwards.

Even in Canada’s natural hot spring areas there’s showers unless you’ve hiked way back in????

    Is this obligatory?

In my case I give my lady money and what she does with it is her business, of course some goes to her family. I am fortunate my lady does not have kids and her family do not scrounge at all.... I said early on in the relationship I did not want to hear of begging, or borrowing. In reality they are decent people.

Same same…I have four sons back home and she has one daughter three months out of uni. and working at a ?$&@!!>%# job but she’s now pulling her own weight (and sends her Mum presents every month).

We buy her things for her place once in awhile…some groceries etc. but that’s just because we want to!

Wife's family all works and my family all works and as you say all are really decent people….there are no expectations of others????

Do they have those little stand up electric scooters in Thailand yet?  Seems like something that would be popular to rent.  They are all over the place in the west.  No idea what sort of range they have but they seem to zip along at a pretty good clip.  Can go in traffic or on the sidewalk although sidewalks don't really stop people on motor scooters in Thailand.

There’s been a few rental companies try these in Thailand but they go broke one after the other….Seems like the perfect place for them but even pre Covid they seemed to go under.

seems to be exactly the opposite in the UK at the moment... used car prices are climbing......

Used vehicle prices follow the new prices up the ladder until they get too expensive and then people start buying new again as a rule!

I just think once dealers find that they can’t sell a fossil fuel powered trade in as quickly as they need to they’ll reduce the amount of $’s they put in or may stop taking them in trade altogether!

Speculation on my part of course but when the Govt. and Greenpeace and the major auto manufacturers decide something is going to happen it’s going to happen faster than we think!

I’m looking at buying my sister a used Nissan Leaf in the U.K. it has 30,000 miles on it is under 5 years old and will cost 300,000 baht I’ve done a currency conversion. To purchase a new Nissan Leaf in Thailand the cost is 1.95 million baht it’s time this so called government stopped the ridiculous import charges  Nissan have brought out the Nissan Kicks cost for the top model is 1.1 million baht if the motor show goes ahead this year I will go and see what deal I can get on it it’s not a plug in its electricity is generated by petrol I think the petrol consumption is 4 litre per 100 km but as there are very few places where you can charge an EV this might be a good option for Thailand . China is going to be the main provider of affordable EVs maybe this administration will do a few brown envelopes and bring them into the Kingdom without ripping off the public we will have to wait and see.

One of the biggest costs of owning a vehicle is depreciation….how well they hold their value over a 3 year or 5 year period!

Consumer Reports or The Black Book is really helpful showing depreciation….some hold their value much better than others like the Toyota Prius….one of the cheapest for maintenance and again depreciation

Never charged, either free or you get paid for used oil & batteries.

In Canada and I believe N America there is a surcharge for disposing of batteries and used oil/antifreeze at all mechanical shops!

(there’s also a fee for their shop supplies but that’s another story)

Im sure the shops do have a buyer for those things but the customer pays the surcharge on every mechanics bill….it’s not only allowed but it’s required!

If you change your own oil you can dispose of it at any fire station along with paint and all other dangerous goods!

sounds nice we are in process of moving to a 6 rai plot
i plan to eliminate spending as much as possible,
main house will be off grid, will have a pond and use the land to grow allsorts of food and raise a few animals

the 6 hens we have now gave us 99 eggs last month,
which we would pay about 9 baht each for from supermarket

You’re going a little further off grid than we are but I get it…it’s nice to have some animals and be able to plant what you want where you want! Always something to do and some money to be spent somehow!

I think I mentioned we are at 4 rai here and it’s a lot of work to look after but here’s a couple photos showing us at our best (new brush cutter)….even in the rain which never stops it seems!

Just a small two bedroom bungalow coming up 25 years old now but we side onto a deep ravine on three sides so no neighbors possible today or tomorrow.

We’re up high in the mountains a km from town so alone but close enough if we need to be….an hours drive on mountain roads to ChiangMai where they have everything!

You will enjoy your country life…let me know how you’re making out a few months in????

    Good to know.

    I didn’t know….I’m still lost on this!

If you’re trying to save the world I get that but if you’re simply trying to improve your travel costs I think it would take a long time to break even on the extra initial costs of the vehicle!

I read there’s new batteries every five years or so …..I’m sure they don’t come cheap plus there will be a large disposal fee for the old batteries I assume….. like they charge on used oil and batteries now!

It is on page 45 of the manual under page F-40.

The link will give you all the spare part drawings c/w part numbers. The best thing to do is to download the manual complete, then print out the items that you want and find the shop that has them.

A picture is worth more than a thousand word in another language.

I’m still going to look for the type with a wide waist belt to carry the complete load on my hips….

I’m sure this one you show here would do everything I need but I have a picture in my mind of what I want and I’ll chase it down ????

    That ever happen to you??
