Thats what I do with my electric strimmer. It is a bit of a hassle because I generally have to change and renew mid cut but the tap function soon broke plus I discovered it is a lot cheaper to buy the string by the spool from a local shop than buying a new cartridge, only about 30- 40 baht. Another advantage with this is that you can buy the string in different gauges. I use a very thick gauge for weeds and thick grass and a thin one for the lawn. A spool also has a lot more string than a cartridge and lasts a long time.

Back when I was a younger man having to stop to replace string would have made me crazy but I don’t mind a break once in awhile????

The newer auto feeds and bump feeds make great promises but I’ve been down that rocky road too many times…haha

  2. I’m buying a four stroke gasoline powered brush cutter (already chose the brand of the cutter) and it comes with the blade which is great but I want to buy a string trimmer attach. to replace the factory blade!

Having had a couple of electric grass trimmers with the “tap on the ground to release more string” nightmares I’m thinking I’ll just go basic and manually attach new string as needed.

HOWEVER ???? I see there are a bunch of new style “auto release” type heads available now!

Anyone been down this road in the last while?

Just wondering why you guys are reading this thread if it bothers you….there must be something that interests you on this Forum

People have been talking about the weather for centuries….”nice day if it don’t rain”…”yes but it’s a dry heat”….”freeze the balls off a brass monkey”…etc etc!

Its just people with something in common passing time????

Fixing a localized problem just moves the problem to the next weak point. Probably haven't seen any military trucks this time.

Forward thinking restricted to considering what to put on your spoon next, doesn't fix real issues.

Some people would be better to hit the DELETE key rather than the SEND key…don’t you think????

  5. We’re just outside Samoeng up on a mountain (big hill) so no water damage but I’ve never seen it rain so hard anywhere as it has last couple days! The roar coming off our concrete tile roof, the 12x12 metal cover on the water tank plus the big banana leaves etc. is deafening at times! It’s something to see and hear!

99% of water vacates the property and runs downhill to town but all ok down there too so far!

Seems we aren’t getting the brunt of it as are so many other areas of Thailand…another month and I’ll be belly aching about how cold it gets at night up here….always something????

Its been a tough year for Thailand and the one before that no better!

  6. I found this thing at the top of a 1/2 km grassy hill in Hmong country on the road from Samoeng to Pai!

Looks worse shape than it is (I think)…needs a seat and the front skis swung back around and reattached by the rubber steering pedals?? Brake is still there and the rubber still attached to the wooden wheels…all it needs is an 18 year old boy showing off for a beautiful young girl and she’s fast again!

I have to agree with you Kanada, although I had to take my time typing as some of the wording was a bit 'ambiguous' plus I had the same issue as all the others when it came to adding the files...Easily overcome tho by holding the Ctrl button down to add them all at the same time (& yes, I included my visa page etc. just in case!)...I was then amazed as my phone beeped with the appointment even before I'd clicked the last 'confirm' button ????

I never did supply photo of my visa…just the passport photo and there was no problem! When I got there my visa was attached to pp. of course and they glanced at it!

I think a lot of people rush thru these applications without taking the time to read and then have problems with the app being accepted etc.

For me and many others it was flawless!

Often times an oncoming vehicle will expect you (anyone)  to move over to the far left  when they are doing illegal/dodgy overtaking manoeuvrers, stubbornly standing your ground and refusing to move over could be lethal...it's almost always a larger vehicle bullying a  smaller/motorcycle they expect/demand that you move..they are coming through like it or not !!!

Also just to add to the "excitement"  the far left/hard shoulder as mentioned is often used by motorcycles as a counter flow lane  where "strangely"  they insist to stay on the right hand side of that lane ( their right) and expect bicycles/motorcycles to pass them on the right (their left)

but seem to move over for pedestrians or push carts.

I tend to ride  to the left or middle of the left lane   and move over to the far left/hard shoulder when a speeding maniac is approaching from behind and when the traffic starts to get heavy and slow, if you are riding like an 80 year old Sunday driver  it is "expected"  by other road users  that you will be in the far left/hard shoulder lane...because slow traffic should keep to the left.

Agree but drivers tend to creep on me or I should say appear out of nowhere in my mirror

my Aerox mirrors give a wonderful view of my shoulders however that’s my issue nothing to do with traffic laws!

From what I’m reading here I think I have my answer…I’ll ride left left left  side of left lane but not on the shoulder!

Its the same in every country on the highways…the safest place is always out in front of the traffic….not 20 km’s slower with everyone forced into passing you!

But don't confuse the hard shoulder for a lane.

    Here a random Thai highway:

    lanes.jpg.b438864ac2ae32733c3526ad199c9fff.jpg

The left most lane is the "green" one, you are supposed to drive there, the "yellow" one is for overtaking.

Driving in the "red" lanes is against the law, most Thais don't know this though. It's also just dangerous to drive on the hard shoulder, especially on the outer one, thus should be avoided anyway.

That’s the answer I was hoping for….it makes sense to me!

Dangerous riding on the hard shoulder for any length of time…the ditch or jungle or a ravine is always right there but most people do that it seems!

Unfortunately riding left in the green lane is dangerous too but that’s just the way it is!

Thank You for that….that’s what I’m doing now and hope your info. is correct????

  11. I’m going to try to move a 6’ papaya the birds or a squirrel planted in a shady area for me….gets light but no sunshine so it won’t produce fruit!

We grow papaya here in the mountains with very few problems except those big doves will clip off the plants at the ground level if we plant them out under a foot or so tall!
Plenty of papaya but I’ve taken a liking to this particular plant because he tries so hard so even tho’ he’s taller than me I’ll try moving him!?

As far as I'm aware the law says that "slower" vehicles should be in the left lane (not the ditch)  and that after overtaking a slower vehicle the faster vehicle should also return to the left lane..in other words the left hand lane is the "normal" driving lane.

I should have been more clear…..I’m referring to two lane highways….one lane in each direction.

That's because those who don't vaccinate may kill us or our children and grandparents. If you want to ride a motorcycle without a helmet I don't care. If you want to drive drunk that's a different matter. The sheer idiocy of the antivaxers is breath taking.

I believe that’s exactly the way most people think but they’re busy with life without either time or desire to argue with the few that never stop arguing on TV Forum

The truth or otherwise of your ten year prediction will only be revealed to those who live that long, the vaccines raise your chances of doing so.

To clarify the points you raise.

Nothing in this world is perfect, including vaccines.

However, the vaccines significantly reduce the chances of serious illness, hospitalization and death from COVID.

The vaccines also significantly reduce the  opportunity for the virus to spread.

So yes, you can still catch COVID after vaccination but you are much less likely to become seriously ill, hospitalized or die  than you would be without the vaccines.

Yes you can still transmit the disease but you are less likely to spread it to others.

I find it sad that someone has to actually write an explanation like this for the benefit of another adult !

If they don’t understand the purpose of vaccinations by now they never will…

What do you feel is nuts about it? He's saying he's offended by the indoctrination of children by religious institutions. While I don't find it offensive, I certainly find elements of the religious indoctrination of children to be unethical so his views are perfectly reasonable.

(admittedly I haven't read the full context, I'm just basing this on what you quoted).

Wasn’t commenting on his subject matter at all…as a matter of fact he makes some sense

I was asking him why he feels the way he does ie:

by his own words he feels….”disrespected…corrected…censored and basically regarded as nuts”

I  find all religion deeply  offensive and taking kids to  church /sunday school or Friday prayer or the  temple child  abuse, religion should be taught  only after 18 years  old, see how  long it lasts then. But my view it seems is  not respected in anyway often regarded as nuts.

    Rabbit

By your own writings you seem to feel that you are disrespected…corrected…censored and basically “regarded as nuts” but when you write statements as you have above (especially on the subject of religion) you have to know you’re inviting those very sentiments!

    What’s the deal?

When folks started to be consumed with self-importance and the feeling or notion that their word was gospel and anything to the contrary was sacriligeous  They decided that they were the all knowing OZ and folks must bow down to them and accept their truths and answers with no room for questioning or uncertainty.

Agreed….that pretty much sums it up

aaaand I think we’re “all”guilty….certainly different degrees of guilt on this particular subject but guilty to a man!

Who doesn’t want to be seen to be correct on a subject and have their opinions taken seriously…on the other hand on a forum like this one (just as an example) you are almost immediately corrected, told you are wrong and you didn’t do the correct research ie: the research that person did and all by people who don’t have to stand face to face or even attach a picture of themselves to their “nicknames”

Forums are not a place for the weak at heart!
