  1. That's kinda not relevant to the US is it? I would also suggest the way that Thais manifest that religiosity isn't similar to the way the religious in the US do. 'nuff said.
  2. First sentence good. That's a perfectly valid reason to want to live in Thailand. Second sentence bad. The two sentences are not mutually exclusive. It's quite possible for someone to want to live in Thailand because they can't afford to live in their own country and also to appreciate the culture. I'm one of them. Rent for a rat infested hovel in Australia is more than the OAP. Ridiculing one's own country need not be related to one's own situation and it's perfectly valid to ridicule certain aspects of it while praising others.
  3. Schiff says it’s possible national security was jeopardized with Biden documents Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said Congress could not “exclude the possibility” that national security was jeopardized by the handling of President Biden’s classified documents, which are now at the center of a Department of Justice probe. “I don’t think we can exclude the possibility without knowing more of the facts,” Schiff said on ABC’s “This Week” in an interview with Jonathan Karl. “I’d like to know what these documents were, I’d like to know what the (special counsel’s) assessment is.” https://thehill.com/homenews/sunday-talk-shows/3814036-schiff-says-its-possible-national-security-was-jeopardized-with-biden-documents/
  4. Pattaya's nefarious origins date back to the Vietnam war R&R days and the US AFB at U-Tapao.
  5. A video showed a glimpse of the aircraft descending. It looks like there may have been a side slip stall as the left wing dipped sharply..
  6. Is the gay flag a symbol of intolerance or racism like the confederate flag or the Christian nationalist pine tree flag?
  7. The resentment is frequently a reaction to a superiority complex.
  8. Part of a much larger display being prepared. Walking Street has rows of Chinese lanterns the full length.
  9. Pinup. I tried Palace after but the only available seats were in the corner. At those prices I want a decent seat or I'm not buying. Pinup was good a couple of months ago but not lately. I think the nightclubs might be better value later but past my bedtime. The whole town seems to be a talent free zone lately. Even TF is much worse than it was before covid.
  10. My supplies of Rosuvastatin and Irbesartan I brought from Australia are running out. Past experience has taught me that both are very expensive here in Pattaya. Are there brand equivalents available here which I could use instead and are much cheaper? I don't want to change to Lipitor or Atorvastatin as I really like pomelo and it can be eaten with Rosuvastatin. If not, where would be the cheapest places to buy these medications?
  11. There's far more in Pattaya than just beer, bars and beaches. I also went to walking street last night, first time in several weeks. I went to one of the top bars early to take advantage of their happy hour and had two beers. The lineup was terrible. There's better scenery in the street than in the bars. I agree that beach road is terrible right now. That said, I enjoy my life in Pattaya despite rarely drinking or going to the bars. Prices are reasonable, restaurants plentiful and lots of variety. There is an abundance of fresh food and fruit available and everything is within walking distance.
  12. I posted a link that the prosecutors were apparently only looking at obstruction charges for Trump in relation to the documents. It was in reply to you. Why do you keep focussing on whether the documents were declassified or not when it seems that detail is an irrelevant right wing talking point? You haven't used the word "obstruction" even once in your posts that I recall reading.
  13. I liked this post because you used the words "self serving". All pollies inadvertently tell lies at some time, most I think it's listening to incorrect information or misunderstanding or not correctly remembering what they read. Sometimes just reading incorrectly. When the lies is self serving and those factors are ruled out then it becomes egregious. One of the functions of the ethics committee should be to force those lies to be retracted under pain of censure should they fail to do so. The public has a right not to be deliberately misled.
  14. I believe they were mainly American civilians there.
  15. Yeah. Sometime back around 1990 when the Americans had Clark AFB in Angeles City, Philippines, two American soldiers were shot. After that there were stories of Americans wearing t shirts with Canadian flags on them. I don't know if it was really true because it was a couple of years before I arrived there but the stories persisted for some years.
  16. Australians look at American politics with horror and hope it's not catching. Unfortunately, one of our own spotted a business opportunity and weaponised ignorance and religious bigotry to make billions and salt the earth for generations to come. When overseas, which is most of the time, I tend to have more American and British friends than Australians. We never talk about politics. I find other "cultures" more interesting while Australians can be predictably boring. I don't want to generalise here as it largely depends on the individual. There seem to be more right wing American expats for some reason. I put this down to a high proportion of ex military retired early as military tend to lean conservative. My impression is that military tend to come more from red states than blue. Australia: Where three girls walking down the street in black thongs isn't sexy.
  17. Click bait from the Murdoch press. No indication what "surge" means in statistical terms.
  18. 'Avoid at all costs': Former GOP Senate staffer raises alarms about party reviving 'disaster' debt ceiling plan “Studying this in 2011 convinced us this would be a really bad idea and something we really did not want to happen,” Riedl told the Post. “We didn’t end the exercise saying, ‘This is feasible and smart.’ We said, ‘Let’s avoid this at all costs because it’s going to be a disaster.'” https://www.rawstory.com/republicans-debt-ceiling-2659213624/
  19. James Comey showed how to swing an election by prematurely running his mouth immediately before and election when it turned out there was no there there. It's was a convention not to do that. The investigation had just begun.
  20. Since most poor Americans are minorities that's at the core of right wing political philosophy which is heavily rooted in narcissism. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/ajps.12380 https://www.newscientist.com/article/2151060-narcissists-arent-very-conservative-but-believe-in-inequality/
  21. Chinese tourists still prefer to travel in groups (44%). This especially counts for Chinese tourists from second, third and fourth-tier cities and regions. 42% of outbound travellers from China prefer to travel individually. https://marketscans.nbtc.nl/marketscan-china-2019/chinese-travel-market
