  1. Finally some good rain storms around upper Sakon Nakhon. Hottest, SMOGGIEST April that I've experienced.
  2. Good on you. Much easier than making others uncomfortable and at unease with such a simple thing as wearing a mask in a hospital. Smog is so bad here in Issan that I would wear a mask but it would be soaked in sweat as it's been around 113 degrees everyday this week.
  3. Well then, get it by all means!
  4. I don't think many Thais even smoke pot. Maybe it's a bigger thing in Bangkok? Plenty of raging alcholics and YaBa addicts though. In my opinion marrijaunna is pretty tame compared to anything that is out there. Honestly though, I've yet to see anyone smoking pot in our village let alone abuse it.
  5. What's your qualifications for saying it's not? Alcohol is definitely bad for you, physically, mentally, and socially. You don't need a P.H.D. to know that. "Alcohol Use and Your Health" https://www.cdc.gov/alcohol/fact-sheets/alcohol-use.htm "Alcohol abuse" https://www.health.harvard.edu/addiction/alcohol-abuse
  6. Sounds like practically everywhere in Thailand. I don't ever remember it being so horribly choking like smog up here in Issan. Looking forward to rainy season.
  7. I think in your case and other locals will be fine. It's usually a tourist and unfortunately a taxi driver with a bad agenda. It's usually the over the top bad taxis that make the headlines. Personally I've never had a problem with a taxi in Bangkok.
  8. It's really down to a drunk farang acting badly. Drunks are usually unruly, belligerent, and just a pain in the a**. Next time get the wife to buy the alcohol.
  9. I've had both inverters and regular aircon units. I ended up replacing the inverters because they just couldn't keep up with the heat and humidity (113 today). My Mitsubishi aircons have a dry mode that reduces the humidity and really helps the comfort levels and saves electricity.
  10. Used in many hotels and resorts. Tough and reliable.
  11. Totally safe unless you fall into an open pit or pick up a lady boy by mistake.
  12. The name sounds very high end. In my experience inverters struggle in the hot season, especially when it is really humid. For a little more you could get a trustworthy and reliable Mitsubishi that'll keep you cool and is totally reliable.
  13. I haven't used a taxi for years. I always use a ride hailing app whenever available. In my opinion it has always been a much better experience than the outdated hail a taxi and hope you aren't being ripped off feeling.
  14. Yes, the difference is that with the app being used you know what you are paying before you agree for the ride. You do know that, right?
  15. Hard to believe anyone bothers with overpriced and greasy taxis when Grab, Bolt, etc are available.
  16. I've got a Kindle. But I've also got two younger children.
  17. I believe that idiot is appointed by the current Junta.
  18. Most of these shootings take place in Republican strongholds.
  19. If you are using an old Android Box that doesn't offer upgrades anymore and is satisfying your needs then by all means good on you. My Nvidia and Mibox 4k are still pushing out upgrades and security updates and it's working great. Upgrades or not these Android Box devices are great especially if you are stuck up here in Issan! Ready for NBA playoffs.
