"Letting off" those without a helmet after paying a fine is not letting them off, it is fining them! -
Bangkok Governor Targets Taxi and Tuk-Tuk Overcharging

That's been the process for years and is official. The receipt is supposed to be to prevent the driver being done twice for the same offence but only for that day...it can't be used for ever. -

If those "innocent victims" are caught in speed traps. wouldn't they, by definition, not be innocent victims? -

"If they would do their job"...Really? How many people report these issues to the police? Without that, or without every passenger being escorted into the taxi by a police officer, how could the police do that part of their job? -
You have obviously never been locked up in Thailand. You think you just call up room service from the phone beside your bed to tell them to restock the mini bar? Once again, you dont have any experience. I high proportion of LBs in Thai jails. I know a repeat offender. He loves going in there, locked up in a room with sex deprived males. It is his fantasy. "You have obviously never been locked up in Thailand. You think you just call up room service from the phone beside your bed to tell them to restock the mini bar?" I have...Klong Prem. Prisons have shops available to inmates where they can buy food, amongst other things. Certain food items can be ordered for the next day on a prison order form in the cell at night. Food could also be sent in if ordered by someone outside...pizzas were frequent orders sent in for foreigners in addition to normal Thai food that many Thais received. "Once again, you dont have any experience. I high proportion of LBs in Thai jails". Once again it is you and your mate who are not so well-informed. There are LBs in male prisons but they are not the "high proportion" that you assert. The cell that I was in was also used for the LBs in our block and they were a small minority, probably five out of 28/30 normal inmates. Never once was there any sexual activity in our cell, in fact they kept themselves to themselves with very little interaction.

FYI. the thread is not about the UK, it's about expat advisors in Thailand. -
Thailand Customs to Apply VAT on All Postal Imports
Liverpool Lou replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This is only about postal deliveries. "Grandparents presents" have never been exempted from VAT or import duty, unless by virtue of low value or specific exemptions such as laptops. -
Thailand Customs to Apply VAT on All Postal Imports

It won't affect your wife as the OP clearly states this application of VAT is for postal deliveries, not her deliveries in "those pickups". -
Thailand Customs to Apply VAT on All Postal Imports
Liverpool Lou replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes, and this new arrangement is specified in the OP as applying only to postal deliveries. -
Thailand Customs to Apply VAT on All Postal Imports
Liverpool Lou replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Items delivered by post on which duty/VAT is payable, are currently retained at the local post office for the recipients address, not the Customs Department. -

Which ones have been so badly set up, then, that justify your sarcastic broad brush assertion? -

Where did you get that "double taxed, double VAT" garbage from? -
Thailand Customs to Apply VAT on All Postal Imports
Liverpool Lou replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes, it is just you. Where has it been stated that this change is directed at expats as opposed to the other 99.99% of the population? -

"If they flatrate parcels independant of what is inside..." But they have not said that is what they are doing. -
Thailand Customs to Apply VAT on All Postal Imports
Liverpool Lou replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It doesn't start until next month, as the OP states, but your parcel would not be affected by the change anyway; you were just lucky that your item was not selected to be examined, that's all. -

A rose by any other name is still a stinkin tax Your post suggests that the government is trying to disguise Value Added Tax by using another name, what name do you claim that they are now using? Value Added Tax is an undisguised tax. -

Are you moving on to a place that doesn't have VAT and import duty? Any recommendations for those generous countries? -
Thailand Customs to Apply VAT on All Postal Imports

For every parcel that is intercepted, yes, theoretically. but not all of the incoming 30 million can be. -
Thailand Customs to Apply VAT on All Postal Imports
Liverpool Lou replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Nonsense. Most of the people affected by this will be Thais, obviously, it is not being applied for expats! -
Expat Investment Advisors

They're both brokers and how good they are depends on the results that are generated from the investments in the companies' policies that they recommend. If you're referring to IIMG Thailand, that company is not licenced by the SEC to operate here, OTAP is licenced in Guernsey.
