  1. Wealthy Thais in the know probably keep funds in the GSB where all deposits are protected, no limits.
  2. If you've got nothing in either you won't have either for very long if there are no transactions!
  3. There's a big difference between Thais opening accounts and foreigners being able to do the same thing!
  4. A single account is only insured for 1M THB. B1m is the maximum protection per institution (except for GSB accounts), it is not per account... "Coverage on a per depositor per institution basis means that if a depositor has multiple deposit accounts in the same financial institution, the Deposit Protection Agency will determine the reimbursement amount by aggregating all deposits in the protected accounts across all branches..." https://www.dpa.or.th/Deposit-Protection-Scheme
  5. "I want to contact my local MP in Kanchanaburi/ Danmakhamtia and wonder how one can do this, please?" Your OP isn't very clear. Are you Thai (or are you trying to contact your MP in the UK)? The MP for Kanchanaburi 2 is Chusak Mantim and I'd guess that all MPs have an official email address or could be contacted through Government House. In which government is the "senior official" that you are trying to contact? If you want to contact your UK MP about the frozen pensions issue, don't bother, you're wasting your time.
  6. Ask at the nearest bike taxi stand...or any bike repair shop.
  7. That's a bit harsh, she didn't loose it deliberately.
  8. Try the/a dealer. Without butchering the bike to also release the steering lock your options are limited.
  9. He said that they lost one key and didn't get a new one cut, now they've lost this key, do you really think it is keyless?
  10. True he can only act as a consultant as lawyers from other countries cannot represent someone who is appearing in court in Thailand so he must have a Thai lawyer "...so he must have a Thai lawyer". The victim (or his family) doesn't need a lawyer in court, it's the defendant who's on trial!
  11. He is obviously not representing the victims family in court, he's just their lawyer, speaking on their behalf.
  12. ... that he was bequeathing everything to himself! Wouldn't English have been the best way for you to understand completely? Who were the two witnesses? You could have made your will in English (or any other language), it doesn't have to be written in Thai.
  13. Probate and an administrator is granted by the court, not by the district office.
  14. Disregard whoever told you that! Also, wills do not need to be registered with, or written in conjunction with. the local district office.
  15. More worthy than your constant barrage of pedantic remarks? Ever wonder why no one actually likes you? Grow up Lou, you'll make a fine grammar Nazi one day. I've posted facts here, not pedantry, if you don't agree, please quote the specific "pedantry" but bear in mind that debunking glaringly false claims of "attempted murder" is not pedantry. "Ever wonder why no one actually likes you?" No, I have not but whether you, or any other members of your gang, like me or not is both highly debatable and, more importantly, completely inconsequential.
  16. From memory she got a 500b fine. My point was that she was arrested and charged, you claimed that she wasn't.
  17. Thailand Criminal Code will tell you, but the answer in this case is that she threatened the driver, a misdemeanor, she did not threaten to, or attempt to, murder the driver, had she done so, the court would not have released her.
  18. The court, obviously, didn't agree with your sentiment.
  19. It's also odd how some posters NEVER have anything to add apart from pedantry. It's also odd how some posters class a rational presentation of facts, debunking a clearly exaggerated and inaccurate claim, as pedantry. Are you suggesting that by posting a bunch of bananas you have "added" anything more worthy to this thread?
  20. From the OP... "The driver then reported the matter to Chalong police, who arrested the foreign woman and charged her. However, according to the report, following her release from court..."
  21. "The driver then reported the matter to Chalong police, who arrested the foreign woman and charged her. However, according to the report, following her release from court." How much more "confrontational" could they be?
  22. Why will the police need to look for her again?... " The driver then reported the matter to Chalong police, who arrested the foreign woman and charged her. However, according to the report, following her release from court..."
