  1. Citibank Thailand is an American bank. Citibank Thailand is a Thai bank. All retail banks with a Thai operating licence are Thai banks.
  2. There are none. Why is UOBT any more trustworthy in your eyes than all the other Thai banks?
  3. What? It’s an American company lol No, it is not, Citibank Thailand (the only Citibank in Thailand) is a Thai bank.
  4. No, not really, since issuing bad cheques in Thailand is a criminal offence and can result in a jail sentences. "If all Thais had checking accounts..." Shameful to suggest that all Thais are fraudsters.
  5. Her father is bed-ridden and she had taken a sleeping pill because she was ill. The photos show a house that doesn't appear to be the home of the "dirt poor".
  6. Does anyone not ask what the current rate is if it is not displayed? Doesn't make any sense.
  7. He isn't necessarily rich and hasn't been allowed to "walk away free"; he's charged with attempted murder among other things.
  8. Since when have you been the arbiter of what is a suitable contribution to the forum?
  9. Bail does not work that way...in any country...unless the defendant doesn't appear. You can't just make up laws to suit Thaivisa threads!
  10. And nowhere in the OP or the link did it state that he is "rich and connected". Did you see his house and his old G Wagon that he was so concerned about? The majority on this thread seem to be assuming that he's part of the immensely rich Indian-Thai Nana family but that has not been confirmed.
  11. Not much indication that he's hiso based on the OP and the link.
  12. They can buy them from gun shops, gun ownership is not prohibited in Thailand.
  13. "Have not heard of holding without bail?" I'm sure they have and, if that was mandatory to be applied to this man's charges (it isn't), he would be locked up now.
  14. Neither his house, nor his (at least 15-year old) Strada G Wagon suggest that he is either rich or connected! The low level of bail doesn't suggest that either.
  15. In practically every other country bail would be on the table also. Maybe you know a country where the option of bail is denied by law for the offences he has been charged with?
  16. I spoke for myself as I am included in the "we". To assume that the majority of expats or forum users would not pay in one or the other way is just to naive for me. It is also naive to assume that a guy who takes women from the beach is a pimp instead of a common customer. "I spoke for myself as I am included in the "we"". Glad to hear it. "It is also naive to assume that a guy who takes women from the beach is a pimp..." I did not make that assumption, I didn't even comment on it.
  17. It may, officially, be a legal requirement but it has been clarified, officially, many times by the RTP and others that visitors are not expected to have the physical passport on their person at all times. As long as a reasonable copy is provided, that will suffice and no arrests will be made or other action taken.
