  1. No its not. But America does have a lot of crazy hard left socialist weirdos who like to change the meaning of words to suit their own political agenda. "Globalist" in not some hate word slung at the Jews by right wing extremists. (it's laughable that someone actually believes that). The word means nothing more than the dictionary definition that Jeffr2 provided. Whenever someone uses that term (usually in the political context) it means that they are referring to issues and policies being decided upon by someone far away without consideration for the local people (e.g. European leaders telling African countries what they should and should not do. It's akin to bullying - just what socialists and leftists like to do). The opposite of Globalism is the concept of "nationalism" or "localism", which refers to policies decided upon by local people within their own district/state/country.
  2. Just as long as those "Quality" tourists are not expecting to meet any "first timers" in Thailand
  3. As long as there is involuntary quarantine, why would anyone ever decide to travel to Thailand? Maybe he was clueless, or maybe just an idiot. Thailand sure does attract them
  4. Wasn't the whole point of the 800k / 400k baht bank deposit to be evidence that the foreign visa holder could pay for things like medical care ? Thailand really is going backwards. First you need a visa to enter the country. Then they decide that's not good enough and you need a CoE also. Then they demand you have a minimum cash balance at hand for proof of living expenses. Then they say that's not good enough and now you also need 3m baht health insurance policy as well. What next? Pre paid 12 month rental receipts? Some of the more dimwitted people might think mandatory health insurance is a good idea. In theory maybe, but I know how it works in practice from the USA where mandatory health insurance was introduced, and the cost of it increased 5 times (500%) in as many years. Yes, it really did that. If this stays around, then in a few years Thailand will be unaffordable for a lot of a western retirees. Maybe that's what Thailand is trying to do? But the good news is, there's plenty of other places in the world.
  5. What complete <deleted>. There is no way in the world a foreign broker commissions to buy or sell thai stocks would be less than a thai broker because the only way for the foreign brokers to execute thai stock trades is through a thai broker. And no, Thai banks are not going bankrupt. Not a single thai bank has gone bankrupt over the last 20 years, whilst in that same time thousands of European and US banks have That's bad advice too. The US listed ADRs have very little liquidity, and virtually no tax advantages to owning Thai shares directly. If you are based in Thailand, tax resident, then owning shares directly thru a thai stockbroker is the way to do it. Note: Banks don't sell shares. And no shares are not the same thing as funds
  6. Maybe it's 95% or maybe its just 85%. But the US has over 800 military bases in over 70 countries throughout the world. And no they are not there to hand out rainbow flags and lecture on LGBT rights. Plus, the US dollar is used as the reserve currency for almost every single country in the world. This ability to influence monetary liquidity, combined with granting access to SWIFT (global transfer system), lending via IMF/World Bank, means the US government have the ability to influence almost any country adversely in ways you would not understand. So yes, please continue to hold your breath. In fact the longer you do, the smarter you will become.
