  1. Hey folks, Sorry for the lack of updates. Mrs Jack shot the crow after 3 years. So iv'e been busy pumpin' anything that moves under 30 for the last few weeks. The bike is on two wheels at last. Just starting work on the engine. i'll fire up some pics thisevening. Take care & keep safe all.
  2. Quick update III I was hoping to test the electrical system today. Sadly the fools from the shopee shop sent me the wrong handlebar unit. Ordered the left side (Blinkers, hi-low & horn). They sent me the right side.... Go figure. Had to drag my butt 10km to Big C to send it back Kerry. Cost 57tb. Mrs. Jack sent the receipt via shopee chat. She got a load of disrespect & threats from said shop. For how the price of return. With a co signer. Was too expensive. I'm like <deleted> knoby-jock's? This is Thailand. Ordered a replacement from another shop. And made a formal complaint to shopee for refund/harassment. Along with screen shots of the convo. In conclusion. They sent me the wrong item. But it's my fault for giving them business. Ain't that a beach. ???? Either way. Water off a ducks back. Ain't the first time it's happened. Sure as hell. It won't be the last. Doesn't mean i have to like it. Take care all. Thanks for the likes ???? Have a good one!
  3. Day 08 Progress? Welcome back all! Been busy messing around with numerous things since the last post. I got the fuel tank cleaned out and painted. Darn that 6% white vinegar works a treat! The ammount of <deleted> that came out of it was insane! Ditched the crappy filter that seats inside the outlet. Just enough room to fit a small in-line fuel filter. Thankfully one of the first items i ordered was a replacement fuel line. Bendy "S" shaped 8mm job. Spent several days making new spaghetti. Even though i despise the chinese government. Had to order the 4/6 pin block connectors from there. Had most of the correct wire colours. Exept pink & blue. Fired on some red/white rape tape. To know whats what. Checks out with the multi meter. Guess the true test will be sending 12v & 7 amps up its butt. We had one good day without rain. Managed to get 90% of the plastics painted. Fired on the front fender. Managed to source a new clutct lever. From a Vm120? Either way it fits. And can reuse the bar mount. Spent far too lang cleaning up the clyinder head/barrel. Good auld 3m abrasive pads guled to a pop stick. Far too much dust was made that day. Painted and cured in the oven awaiting the final gloss black coat. Probably missed some things that have been done. Hope the crappy pics do it justice. Thanks all for reading. ???? Keep safe & take care, SJ
  4. After 20 years. I just hate myself more. For not adapting/assimilating quicker. Could of made things more easy. Then again i'm now a happy camper. I would say. Hate the game. Not the player. But sometimes. One must refect on themselves. Before judging others.
  5. Only ever made in Thailand. Lazada & shopee. For parts.
  6. Day 07. Stardate....meaningless,meaningless numbers. Got the frame painted. Not as good of a finish as sandblasting but it's acceptable. Not that much of it is visible due to the plastics. As usual with any project .Th. Mounts for the center stand were. Well wonky. Inner recessed mounts were perfect for 180dg. Humped for the further 180. Used the dremmel to get them as true as i could. Washered them up. New spring i ordered is pure b.s. Not opposed ends as per the pic on Shopee. So will reuse the old one once the rust be gone has done it's work. As it turns out. The new spring will fit the next Suzuki Step project. Winning i guess. Dug the forks out to fire on the front wheel. Only to find the "master" Mech up the road had not hammered home the bearings. So the speedo gear would not mount corretly. Was going to take the front wheel back. But it's Sunday. Dude must be religious or something. Turns out the new front hub is a little different. Knocked the bearings back out and cut the inner axel guide by 2mm. Sorted! One would think people would think about it? Meh. Pay peanuts, you get monkeys i guess. Atleast the wheels are true. Doubt i will ever give that guy business again. The new head bearing/runners went in great! Lubed them up and fired on the forks with the front wheel. Progress has been made. On one wheel and a prayer. Just need to wait untill next month. To order up some new rear shocks. Will have a rolling frame. Then it's engine time.... 555 Will be spending most of the evening. Test fitting the new plasics & misc items that have been cleaned/sprayed. Take care & keep safe all.
  7. The last old Honda Dream & Cub project. i raffled off for the locals. For 20b/ticket. Proceeds wen't to the local kids charity. Made a few families with no reliable transportation. Very happy ???? One can't politely refuse the free grub that is always offered also ???? Cheers ktm. Keep safe & take it easy mate.
  8. Quick update II Wen't to the coating shop today for an estimate. They wanted a ridiculous ammount. I didn't come down the Mekong on a banana boat. As i used to blast & coat back in the Uk for a living at one point. So it's back to doing things the auld fashioned way. Wire brushed the worst of the rust. To be cost effective. Im using the old vinegar trick. Spray it down every few hours to keep it moist and leave it overnight. Takes time but it works. Just have to stipple out the air bubbles when laying down the kitchen roll. The mummy returns. 555
  9. I put a seprate RCB for the outside outlets. Saved my bacon atleast twice. Good call mate.
  10. Yea drains are a big thing. Eg. If you will tile outside? Having a master drain for aircon waste is a great idea. Slipped on that stuff once and broke my foot. Was not fun. Also any wires to be set in concrete? Double the gage of tube so you can snake in a replacement without digging up half the house ???? Plan well for evrything. Best of luck mate.
  11. Use a contractor that provides a 10 year warranty. More expensive. But the job is done right. And you don't have to worry about Tom,Dick & jack of all trades. Nicking everything thats left over.
  12. 6x 620ml & no more ???? . And some sticky rice for Mrs. Jack ????
  13. I don't understand you're hostility. I was compensated & got to keep the bike. This was several years ago. "commonly known amongst motorcycle mechanics like myself as bullet proof" No comment on the burnt valves? You seem like a cool guy with loads of insight. So i'm off this tread. I don't wan't no keyboard war. I was gona send the o.p my starter pro gratis. Thanks for changing my mind. Have a good one!
  14. Quick update. Got the forks back together. Rims & hubs have been done. Reached the monthly budget for parts. So it's down to the nitty gritty with misc things. Jog is still around. The lad payed the deposit. Has yet to pay in full. Only a few days left to pay or collect. Guess i'll play a game of how many chang you can fit under the seat while pulling wheelies :D. As always have a good one. Take care & keep safe!
  15. Sen't my Ninja to Nak Sawn. Hence the top end failure. They messed up the valves during the service. Got a payout. After contacting head office in JP. Won't buy another Kawi ever again. (maybe a KR for next project ????) Bike had 4800km on it.
  16. If anyone needs spares for the 2012. Hit me up. Have most parts to get rid off.
  17. Dude. You can get a whole engine with 6000km off ebay for 300 quid in the U.K.
  18. Versys, ER6F & ER6N. Year 2012. All have the same starter to my knowledge. Same engine. So don't see them changing the starters. Post up a pic. With tooth count.
  19. I got a engine for spares. Top end is kaput but the rest is good.
  20. My friends say that we're headed for a grotty time It's just a bit of slapstick in the pantomime We're headed for disaster but I just don't care Just shut your eyes and count to ten you won't be there The whole thing's daft - I don't know why You have to laugh or else you'll cry You have to live or else you'll die You have to laugh or else you'll cry
  21. I'm no means a master. Tinkerer at best. Just getting through my midlife crisis. And reliving the good auld days of yore. I wish i'd gotten into carpentry! Can just about chisel out door hinges. Without disaster ???? Thanks for reading. And the goodluck. All the best to you too mate.
