  1. A British comedy, Red Dwarf has two main characters. One the ultimate striver, the other a corresponding slacker. Rogan speaks well to the strivers, those who relax only in order to work again. Most of us though are slackers, we work in order to rest again. 90% plus of people could never write the book, climb that rock or make that magazine cover. why not take it easy? Take responsibility for your own life sure. Be a good person or at least do no harm, of course. But enjoy the sofa and accept coffee time is often the highlight of the day.
  2. Yes,I agree with your point. I'm just adding that some older men have something lovable about them and some really dont. If an age gap relationship starts off transactional over time the woman might actually develop feelings at least approximating love it there is something in the old guy that is lovable. On the other hand, there are plenty of pretty mean spirited old men that this is very unlikely to happen to. After a couple of years marriage both types of men would have a very different view of women.
  3. You both want different things. Walk away. On the baby issue there is no compromise. By staying you are burning thru her ferti!ity window and that's not nice.
  4. This pic shows the problem of discussing age gap relationships in Thailand. Most can see the reason the woman is with this guy is rather similar to why any woman chooses any mate. Some guys in Thailand have this dynamic going on. Spend 5 minutes in Thailand and even less on this forum and it's obvious many older men here are not Dennis Quaid.
  5. Humans just haven't evolved to live alone. meaning is derived by living for another. People who have been damaged find that it's easier to live for a dog than a human. If a man can live in Thailand only for himself and be happy he is quite unusual.
  6. I bought the oil giant BP at 550 15 years ago because it was paying about 6% Share price today, less than 400!!!! Cut its dividend too.
  7. Learn Thai. This will get you much better quality girls. Learn game. Be the best version of yourself presentation/manners wise you can be. If you can't do the above. It's gonna best expensive.
  8. You remind me of one of those American preachers who constantly bang on about the evils of lust and then one day get caught with their pants down drinking out of a hookers toilet bowl.
  9. My friends over 50 back in the UK are a sad lonely bunch. what would you recommend they do? Learn to enjoy crosswords?
  10. High quality or high SMV? (Sexual Market Value) Noam Chomsky is the former.
  11. Mid 50s. I'm spending less now than ever before (despite having more wealth) I just seem contented to live simply. Drink less, chase women way less, buy less stuff. Lots of entertainment is free these days too. (Downloads) Going out now is a 60bht iced coffee while reading my ebook (free download lol) in a cafe or two leos while watching premier league in a reasonably priced bar!!!! To think it should come to this!!!! Lol How about you?
  12. Uk population will continue to grow. Uk citizens will never give up their dream to own. Buy a property in a growing city that has limited roads into the city. (Makes commuting in annoying and therefore helps sustain inner city prices) such as Exeter. Rent out will get a 3% to 4% net yield now. There maybe a correction ahead but if Exeter house prices aren't performing better than average compared to other asset classes in ten years id be surprised.
  13. I'm adding a generation gap factor. I presume the op is older. Grew up in a time when cheating in sports was frowned on. The boy is growing up in a world where cheating in team sports is expected. In football players buy a penalty. when is was a kid it was called cheating. I blame the cultural shift on Maradonnas hand of god.????
  14. I heard these government loans were 6.9% when inflation was 1% Doesn't sound like a good deal to me.
  15. We have all read countless posts from cynical older guys who think all relationships are transactional. what has been your personal experience of you and close friends being hit by cupid's arrow over say 50? I'm 54 and hate to say i think it might be very difficult for myself. Just doesn't feel I have the biochemistry for it anymore. Then again who knows!
  16. Since Thaksin left inflation until this recent post covid global uptick was low and wages (official stats) nearly doubled. Are you possibly conflating the best time to be thai, which was the day before covid struck and the best time to be you, twenty years younger and young Thai women earning roughly half of what they earn now?
  17. How an obviously sincere, well meaning nice guy like Richard can get such a torrent of abuse thrown at him here baffles me!
  18. You think BM2's friend who died of AIDS caught from a woman didn't wish he had slept with fewer?
