  1. Eye contact does it for me every time. No I'm not being lascivious, smiling is one thing, but eye contact is quite another. I don't think it's shyness, because the girls at checkouts in particular, have dead-eyes even as they ???????? and look away. Sometimes I wonder if they're just exhausted by incel jerks who endlessly leer back at them, and have just given up sharing any of their true personality. The waitresses have a financial stake in being sweet, but sadly, I think the reality in their hearts is more like the Checkout experience.
  2. Oh! This is very sad. Joe was always helpful, and never got muddy over the endless debates on here like the rest of us bored old grumps. I've always wished for an obituary page on the site, but unless we are known offline to another, we're untraceable, and depart unnoticed. Anyway, many other visa experts on other forums are not youngsters either, and since it's a labour of love, when they all die off, we who remain to struggle with the various regional immigration dumpster fires will all be poorer for it. RIP Ubon Joe humble helpful legend!
  3. Make America Sane Again! Facts are the truth. Too many can't handle the truth. The people who can't handle the truth call the people who can handle the truth "Snowflakes" They use this mockingly because the truth is that every snowflake is unique and special. Yet somehow, this is an insult? What's the opposite of a snowflake then? It's something very un-American, it's masses and masses of perfect replicas, all marching and saluting that one guy who dresses differently from the rest of them. They all think they're rugged individuals. "We are all individuals!" They roared back at Brian in the Monty Python movie, it's not so funny in reality. They can't see the very fragile truth, and the beauty of the freedom to just exist happily, harming no one, in each snowflake. They want to go over the cliff of a totalitarian hell on earth with the mindless herd. And the worst of it is, they want everyone else to go there with them. There's no room to be you, and you will be destroyed if you are in any way different. That's what they want for the world. Drab fascist jackboot sameness, disguised for now as rugged patriot minutemen, or more likely, these well-armed all American guys do believe in self-governance, but in reality, they're just useful idiots. If this is untrue, then why is "Snowflake" an insult?
  4. It speaks to the rigidity of the MAGA mind that Democrats are now "The Left". And anyone not on board with DeSantis' Nazi era book-burning schtick is "woke". Just lazy buzzwords they all jump on as if these define the rest of the world that's not on the hayride to hell with them. There are plenty people on "the left" who would absolutely see Biden stand trial, if the evidence was there to support it. There's not one single person on the opposite side of "the left" who is not willing to throw every judge and law enforcement officer (these people are hardly pinko lefties!) under the bus in order to preserve the fantasy that the entire justice system in America is on a witch hunt. It's got so crazy in that camp that Russia is good, and the FBI are bad. Is there anyone sane enough on here to unpack this for me without parroting the usual trashy talking points? I am asking what's going on in your head that Putin is cool and the FBI are Satan?
  5. Android. They get more done. And... If war breaks out with China, as looks likely. It will take Apple years to pivot, and you'll need to switch to a Samsung or Nokia anyway.
  6. How much effort would it take to set this one up for a payout of a few hunnert per scam, give or take? These criminal masterminds will be retiring to Monte Carlo in no time!
  7. No time to read all the responses, but it's well known young Japanese women pay for sex in Japan. Of course, you're not going to get any females who lurk here to ever admit to such a thing. I'm willing to bet that while it's less prevalent than on the other side of the fence, yes, it definitely does go down like they show on the pornos, I mean come on, they have needs too! I think he botched it horribly though, only a cave man goes right for the baby-chute without warning.
  8. One day soon, one of those frequent falls of his is going to do the trick! Then the watch collection really will be owned by a dead man.
  9. All they need now is a velvet rope at each end, and a dress code. Bangin' ????????????????
  10. We used to have a bellicose saying in the old schoolyard. "You, and whose Army?" This is the question Pita has to answer. He has the popular vote, but the Generals have always been close to the little dictator next door who sic'd the Tatmadaw onto its own people. If he doesn't get help from some very powerful friends, who have everything to lose by backing him, I can't see anything changing until everyone over fifty in the military is cactus.
  11. I remember when Aussies couldn't even pronounce the name... There was a famous print Ad: "If you're tired of saying Fiji and Bali, you can always say Phuket!" With Bumrungrad (rhymes with Stalingrad) moving in, it's definitely going to be a superyacht magnet this decade.
  12. It could have been worse, it could have been an Alien, alien. "ET steal jerb".
  13. At least you have the ticker to come on here and confess! A thousand more are cringing behind their keyboards today, they can't admit the loss, it hurts enough without public ridicule. Many of us are hoping the "investments" we have already made, don't end in tears. There are good Thai people out there, millions of them. Or the bad un's would never make the news. A lot hangs on the background of the beneficiary. Bars can be extremely nasty places, filled with industrial grade farang scumbags as well as lost souls in skirts. And hurt people, hurt people.
  14. You remind me of the Japanese soldier in the Phillipines who surrendered in 1974. Nothing could convince him the war was over, a letter from the emperor, his own brother singing school songs, thousands of newspapers past and present. Nigel blamed everyone but reality in that interview, but the fact remains it FAILED, and it doesn't matter who, how, when, or where, it's from the old spivs mouth to your ears. Brexit has failed! The war is over, Mac Mick San.
  15. That gal from the Airforce who got capped smashing her way into the house of representatives would have an answer, but she died so that the former guy might take state secrets home to show his golf buddies. Strange days indeed!
  16. My bible went in the bin a quarter century ago. Tense afternoon, but no thunderbolts then, or up until now. Maybe if I go to jail like Chewy here, one day, I may get another one. I hear the pages are great for rolling joints in the slam.
  17. I too own a condo, I only got involved because it was offered via my wife's family at ⅙ the land office evaluation, basically giving it away, and it's in Sukhumvit 16, just too good to pass up. We live in a gated community in a "mc mansion" she owns outright in Chiang Mai. The juristic fees alone are nearly the equal price of renting in a similar place to what she owns in CM! Basically, it's like paying rent on the asset we already own. When we have deducted all our costs, we make slightly more than the daily minimum wage in daily rent! The yield advertised for our building is 3% this place has some serious money living there judging by the car park, that yield? Western banks offer better on a term deposit! I would have happily sold you mine, and I think I got the best deal in central Bangkok this century! Anyway, I wish you well. But as you can see from the posts, walking away a winner from property ownership here is the exception rather than the rule.
  18. I can't see how this has any substance in reality. It seems to be a puff-piece at best, and more about internal sexual politics given the gender involved. If the UK Metropolitan Police have decades old institutionalised issues, including corruption, on a much lesser scale, the RTP would need to be disbanded, and rebuilt by someone like the officer forced to flee to Australia, for implicating the Army, including Prawit, in human trafficking.
  19. Congratulations! Being the owner of Thai property will bestow absolutely no preferential treatment on your visa status, but plenty of the universal headaches of property ownership with far fewer (almost zero) common law or statutory rights you enjoy in blighty. If it ever goes pear-shaped, take it on the chin, you'll lose both the Condo, and the case (your life savings) if you try to fight it. It's just the grim reality of being an alien here. Having said that, if you're in luck, you'll enjoy a long and happy life there.
  20. That's a huge presumption! I doubt it will ever be reversed, and Pita has already said all they want is licensed sellers and to protect minors, unlike the current Anutin and Co. clownshow. Prostitution is illegal now. Yet there are adult entertainment threads posted about bargirls and rub n tug places every day! Let's worry about that if it happens, meanwhile, there's always Reddit, or Discord, where anyone can start a group about anything, anywhere, on those sites besides the universal taboos of CP and hiring hitmen.
  21. It belongs to them. And after a generation or two of young police and soldiers die, the old gammon will get around a table, and eventually hand it back. Some things never change, no matter what flag the dinosaurs operate under.
  22. I think she'll find her car insurance will hold her own lack of due care for the security of her valuables to be a contributing factor, and the Mall will follow on from that. Of course it's still a bit stomach-churning that libel laws here forbid the reporter from even mentioning the location by brand.
