  1. I think the HD broadcasts are excellent. If watching re-runs then it's in SD. Watched the football league show and revista de la liga, as well as fanzone, all in SD but watchable. Watched barca Vs Valencia on demand, which was in HD and was a near perfect picture on my 32" Samsung LED.

They plan to have everything in HD soon, except for channel 5. Possibility of the ashes cricket in Australia. But the deal clincher for me is that astro have World Cup, so sport 365 said as long as on astro can show, as they won't change current line up, just add more.

Will keep CTH as usually have a few friends round Saturdays & Sundays and if the Internet is playing up, then it can be frustrating, satellite still more reliable but sport content other than the actual live EPL games on CTH is poor. But as sport 365 have UCL, French, Spanish, German football and championship. If you go for the one year deal, then it's still cheaper than old true package and more footy! They show NBA, possibly rugby too.

  2. Their coverage and presentation last night was frankly embarrassing! I Used 365sport for some insightful analysis. Instead of having to listen to the fat sausage head katoi!

On another note, 365 sport's one year deal is a bargain if you ask me. Gives all the UCL plus FA cup as well as championship and La Liga. Only 333bht p/m add that to what I pay for CTH and its still cheaper than True, plus I get more football! Astro also have rights for World Cup, so should be available via this service too. Not to mention guaranteed in English!

  3. CTH have done a good job on providing live fixtures with English commentary. Any production company could have achieved this though. After that, their quality of content is horrific! I used sport365 for the analysis, love watching managers' post match reaction and reviewing incidents. Something CTH haven't done yet! Re-runs all over the shop too. Counting down the days until we get PLTV. Hopefully in time for the spurs Chelsea match.

  4. Thanks for your help. Apparently these channels are now available on thaicom 6. Requires a slight adjustment of the position if the LNB. Had I known this before, I would have got this sorted before it was a problem. Hanging off my balcony trying to do myself proved futile, as its screwed in too tightly. Will get a tech guy to come out.

  5. I've just found out about this! Far from happy! Apparently they have chosen to move the 8 channels on a Vertical polarity (Sport extra, Club channel, football extra & sport one amongst some entertainment channels), which will affect KU band dish receivers! Reasons for this are because the LNB is not turned to the correct position, or the dish is not positioned correctly to receive both Horizontal and Vertical frequencies!

Took ages of searching to find out they have done this, eventually found on their FB page! Nothing on their website except for promoting new fox channels!!! Nothing on the GMM sport website, or the GMM sport FB page, which is mad, as it affects those channels!

So, does anyone know if I can just turn the LNB a few degrees one way to fix the problem? Or do I need the tech guys to come and move the dish?

Thai explanation of this issue posted below. Google translate not 100% clear about how to fix, so if anyone can help, it would be appreciated.

  7. Confirmed again via a thread on CTH Facebook page that we'll have PLTV by late September! Will be happy when the status quo is restored! Then we can move onto World Cup , RS in talks with TRUE & CTH to sub-license HD rights. But I think I'll get Xmas out the way before I start a new thread on that.

  8. Is anyone else getting issues still with their maintenance? Can't get any channel to play for more than any few seconds. Wanna test it out to see if worth having for UCL. Not worth hassle at 2am if it's not gonna work.

  9. Not sure if anyone else watched the Man Utd v Chelsea live on 365Sport but the match crashed after around 75mins. Kept getting the screen image associated with rain/bad cable connection etc. Up until then I had been relatively impressed and was thinking of giving it a try. However, losing the last 15mins of a match of this importance is just not good enough and I will now not be purchasing their package as I can't trust them to deliver a full uninterrupted match.

Will await to see what happens with the PLTV that is supposedly due at the end of the month with CTH. All in all watching the football coverage so far has been about as fun as that 90mins of football was!!

PLTV available in 2 weeks I've been told.
  10. If u check facts, there are millions more Thais who don't understand a word of Ingerlish. Also, with all games shown at the same time, how many brit pundits would they need to cover all of them? The service gives the football. Pundit crap and manager interviews are not important to real fans, ie, those who went to games b4 they moved out here.

Believe it or not, at a live game, there ain't even action replays.

The matches are what we want and we're getting them at a bargain price..I'm happy not to pay more for John Dykes, does he?, Steve macfatboy and co, talking <deleted>.

If u want post match comments, read a newspaper.

As for amateurish, ain't most things out here such? Taxis, Thai tv, buses, train services, internet, customer service, building quality, etc ad infinitum. Why should CTH be different?

    +

I hear your point, but the Thais get annoyed with presenters just taking the mickey out of each others teams. PLTV cover analysis on all games and have one featured 3pm k.o watching the highlights show in Thai last night was annoying. PLTV is included in the deal, only reason I see for it not bring on now is they are testing out the satellite link as its a 24hr channel. Personally I miss PL news, 2 hour review show, especially on Thursday when they have newspaper journalists on. Fanzone is good too. There is more to broadcasting live sports these days then just the actual event. For example, last night no post match interviews again! They haven't even shown them on their own highlights package! These too are part of the game, where would we be without Jose, fergies or benitez's rants! Sometimes they're quite entertaining.
  11. At 900b a month for all games, how can anyone reasonably complain?

WE all got it to watch the matches, and we can.

Tennis, rugby, ping pong? U sure.

It is ok and will get better. Meself, like many mates are more than happy.

The garbage on True is easy to download but CTH has the footie which is why we all signed up 4 it.

Why you are signed up but millions aren't and I don't blame them. CTH are lousy at everything from their marketing, distribution to their presentation. The games can be watched on streams more easily than rugby, tennis, etc so I expect more people to go down this route leaving CTH high and dry.

So why didn't they all do this and save even more than what they paid True?

Also, remember their real market is Thais. John Dykes and co mean nothing to them.

As for repeats of games; Is any TV more boring than a match u know the result of?

Finally, with the state of the net in Thailand, as many posters have said, streaming here ain't that good.

if you check CTH Facebook page there are many Thais who do want British pundits. Mis-information about re-runs not to mention zero per/post match player and manager interviews combined with zero content in english, such as Monday night highlights package or preview shows leaves us with plenty to complain about.

I have been informed PLTV should start in next 2 weeks. So keep your fingers crossed. Info has come from my friend at the nation who has spoken with CTH reps and presenters.

  12. They have fox sports and star sports, so most of the golf and tennis I think. I did read that true snapped up some tennis rights. FOX now shows UFC on its sports channel instead of its movie channel. Can't see CTH bidding for any more sporting rights until they sort this shambles out.

  13. Lower your expectations about everything here and you might be pleasantly surprised from time to time. Be happy that there are live games with English commentary. Stadium 7 a bonus but don't expect it to happen. If it does .....then beauty.

we're paying customers, receiving less of a service than before! We have every reason to complain.
  14. Truly shocking content on stadium channels tonight! Highlights tells of games matches from last season!!! Red bull shows in Thai only and a Thai presented highlights package on st 2&3!!! Why no PLTV coverage!? CTH really do need to do better and realise the coverage is not just about 90 minutes! Not seen a single player or manager interview on any if their channels! Very surprised by lack of reruns too at peak time! Yesterday Norwich vs Everton was being replayed on2 channels with a ten minute gap! Amateur at best!

  15. RS to show 64 live matches on 2 channels: Pornpan

    30212873-01_big.jpg

    Pornpan

BANGKOK: -- With less than a year to go before World Cup 2014 kicks off next June, RS' chief operating officer Pornpan Techarungchaikul, whose company had secured the broadcasting rights for all the 64 matches and who just returned from the World Broadcasters Meeting with Fifa in Brazil, tells The Nation's Jintana Panyaarvudh how the tournament will entertain football fans in Thailand.

Q: Can you tell us how good are the hosts' preparations?

A: I think Brazil are less prepared than South Africa three years ago. South Africa had organised the World Cup quite well. People there could communicate in English while there aren't many English speakers in Brazil. Being the host of such a big event, one needs to involve all the state organisations. It's impossible to change the host now although there have been protests in Brazil. In the meeting, they briefed us about the security and what licensees can do or cannot.

Q: How will sport fans follow all the 64 matches?

A: RS will provide at least two channels, which would be called World Cup channel 1 and 2 to broadcast the tournament. The channels will televise live matches and special programmes, on RS's Sunbox and PSI satellite TV set-top boxes. Twenty-two live matches and three minutes of expert commentary before kick-off will be aired on Channel 7.

Q: Are the viewers going to benefit from any new broadcasting technology this time?

A: The production will be in high definition [HD]. The signals will be sent in HD only. As of now, HD can be watched via PSI O2 Digital set-top boxes. But we are talking with TrueVisions and CTH to find out whether one of them is interested in becoming our partner by sub-licensing the rights in HD for cable system. They will get the live matches and all feeds. For those who watch via World Cup channels on Sunbox and Channel 7 the broadcast will be in standard definition. In addition, broadcast cameras will be increased from 32 to 37 and the audiences will get to see all angles. Another exciting feature is that for the first time goal-line technology will be implemented. In the meeting they reported that the system will be installed in all stadiums but fifa will decide how to use it in the final World Broadcaster meeting in December.

Q: Which content will viewers be able to watch via the broadcast?

A: Apart from the 64 live matches, there will be live teams feed one hour before kick off. Fans will be able to closely follow movements of their beloved teams and players from the time they get on the buses until they arrive at the stadiums and the round-up of the teams. One month before the tournament a feature called, "Road to World Cup", will be aired. It will show the preparation of the teams and the stadiums where the matches are played. All live matches and special programmes will be aired on World Cup channels on Sunbox and PSI set-top-box.

Half of the matches will kick-off at 11pm and 1.30am. The other half will be at 3am, 5am, and 7am. So, there will be reruns of matches that are played at 3am and 5am kick-off time. The broadcast will be in dual language.

Q: Are commercial advertisements allowed during the live matches?

A: Only during the half-time break in free TV, Sunbox, and PSI. But if either TrueVisions or CTH agrees to sub-license the rights, commercial ads of any type are not allowed. Because it won't be fair to the subscribers, and sponsors will be confused.

Q: Will the blank screen problem come back to haunt the audience this time?

A: No. But those who are not our partners and want to use news footage need to ask for permission from us.

Q: What is the latest about the case RS filed against the National Broadcasting and Telecommunication commission (NBTC) on the "must-have" rule, which regulated all 64 matches of the 2014 World Cup be televised on free TV channels?

A: RS, in April, filed a lawsuit in the Administrative Court against the NBTC asking the commission to amend the rule. It is unfair as a law or regulation cannot be retroactive. We acquired the rights from fifa before the must-have regulation was put in place.

Q: Apart from the World Cup, what will football fans get from RS's La Liga rights?

A: The new season of Spanish football started yesterday. More matches in HD will be aired on TrueVisions and PSI O2 Digital. The kick-off time of some matches are early and fans do not have to stay late. Twelve matches will be aired on channel 7.

Q: Is RS bidding for any sport rights?

A: The bidding for the broadcasting rights for World Cup 2018 and 2022 is going to start. But the competition and the bidding price are high. In fact, the broadcasting landscape has changed. What we are concerned is whether it [content] is worth it. It is not like we can take it at any price. Especially, when the "must-have" rule of the NBTC comes into force. We paid very little for the 2010 and 2014 World Cup.

I think content is still "king", not the platform. Those who own platforms need to buy good and suitable content to put it on their platform.
