  1. Georgia is one of the four states (Georgia, Nebraska, Nevada, Utah) whose governor does not have the authority to grant clemency, although the governor retains indirect influence by virtue of his power to appoint board members. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_State_Board_of_Pardons_and_Paroles
  2. I don't care what is your view or anyone else's. I look at that case like I am on Court TV. There are certainly the anti-Trumpers and then there are the MAGA 'it's all a witch hunt' gang. I actually look at the docket. I have done that since the 1980's when you actually had to sit in a law library and go through the stacks. Oil & gas stuff then.
  3. You can ponder as many probables as you need to fill your day wish, but you’ll never know. You are right. As a Florida resident (at least while my Mother was alive) , I only mentioned that as you were questioning my bona fides as an anti-Trumper. But you will maybe still insist, if I ever try to explain via sources and rarely my own verbiage, the Trump legal position, I am rooting for Trump. And I've heard that Man-of-Mystery line of yours before.
  4. Well excu-u-use me. * You're the one who wants to make this personal. Like for someone who is anti-Trump I'm not sufficiently anti-Trump. * Cue John Belushi
  5. I voted against Trump in Florida twice. Who did you vote for?
  6. OK but on these various Trump topics and others, I see myself more as the play-by-play announcer and leave to others to be the color (or colour for the non-Yanks) commentary.
  7. OH NO! You've outed me! My days as a Trump double-agent are over. I'm so relieved. Now I can go to the 7-11 wearing my red MAGA hat.
  8. I've read the Trump camp is more concerned about the Georgia case than the Jack Smith cases because, if re-elected President, he can't pardon himself if/when there is a Georgia criminal conviction. At the least, all these indiscretions on account of the Prosecution team is causing delays even Trump couldn't pull off on his own. Sorta like the Brits would call an "own goal".
  9. Trump joins effort to oust Fulton DA, citing racial bias Former president slams Willis’ remarks at historic Black church Updated 16 minutes ago Donald Trump on Thursday joined a push to disqualify District Attorney Fani Willis from prosecuting Fulton County’s election interference case, saying her defiant remarks at a historic Black church showed “racial animus” toward the former president and his co-defendants. In a court filing, Trump’s two top Atlanta attorneys accused Willis, who is Black, of a “glaring, flagrant, and calculated effort to foment racial bias into this case.” That could unfairly prejudice a jury, they said, and violated Georgia’s rules of professional conduct. Sadow and Little said Willis’ remarks violated Georgia Rules of Professional Conduct, which directs prosecutors to “refrain from making extrajudicial comments that have a substantial likelihood of heightening public condemnation of the accused.” Trump joins effort to oust Fulton DA, citing racial bias (ajc.com)
  10. Donald Trump testifies in his defense in E. Jean Carroll defamation suit — for less than 3 minutes Updated 4:57 AM GMT+7, January 26, 2024 Trump didn’t attend a related trial last spring, when a different jury found that he did sexually abuse Carroll and that some of his comments were defamatory, awarding her $5 million. This trial concerns only how much more he may have to pay her for certain remarks he made in 2019, while president. She’s seeking $10 million. Because of the prior jury’s findings, Kaplan said Trump now couldn’t offer any testimony “disputing or attempting to undermine” the sexual abuse allegations. The law doesn’t allow for “do-overs by disappointed litigants,” the judge said https://apnews.com/article/trump-carroll-defamation-lawsuit-trial-0f2618e7fa839ace26de76e1a6ce274f But the law does allow for an appeal. Carroll's response to the Trump appeal brief is due by 16 FEB 2024
  11. He can be found guilty in every criminal case and still be elected President.
  12. I think the case against him stinks whether he ends up making Carroll wealthy or not. And see post just above.
  13. I don't care about any of that as long as he is not again elected President.
  14. The Supreme Court of the US will hold oral arguments on Donald J. Trump, Petitioner v. Norma Anderson, et al. on 08 FEB 2024. ... AKA the Colorado decision to block Trump on the Republican Primary ballot ... and if that ain't the big kahuna, I don't know what is.
  15. The best outcome for Carroll is the appeals court refuses to throw out the sexual assault judgment. If not, then everything else goes downhill.
  16. Trump lost one of the first rounds and will likely lose the second. Then it's round two.
  17. The original complaint filed 04 NOV 2019 states: 2. Roughly 23 years ago ... The second complaint filed under the NY State Victims Act 24 NOV 2022 states: 1. Roughly 27 years ago But even given the Fox report date, what was the defense supposed to ask of Trump: Where were you in 1996?
  18. She (and her lawyers) have 5 million in the bank already and the current case per Judge Kaplan's instructions is only to determine the amount of financial damage as Trump has already been found liable in the first verdict. The Carroll response to the Trump appeal brief is due 16 FEB 2024. E. Jean Carroll’s lawyer: Trump has ‘no legitimate arguments’ for appeal “I rarely feel more confident about an appeal than I do on this one,” said Robbie Kaplan, Carroll’s lawyer. Updated: 05/10/2023 10:18 AM EDT E. Jean Carroll’s legal team says they’re confident that any appeal from former President Donald Trump has “no legitimate argument” after a jury found him liable of sexually abusing and defaming the writer on Tuesday. “I’ve rarely felt more confident about an appeal than I do about this one,” said Robbie Kaplan, Carroll’s lawyer, on NBC’s “Today” Wednesday morning. “They have no legitimate arguments for appeal.” https://www.politico.com/news/2023/05/10/e-jean-carroll-kaplan-trump-appeal-00096183
  19. As it stands now, she is already set to be a rich lady at his expense.
  20. While it would seem to me Mr. Trump would be best served by staying quiet and hush-hush, I can surmise that he doesn't think it makes any difference. That because he's putting all his marbles on the appeal of the NY State sexual victims 2022 case and, if successful in having the verdict overturned even on sexual assault, he can have all the defamation cases thrown out.
  21. Why Fani Willis Should Step Aside in the Trump Case in Georgia Jan. 24, 2024, 5:02 a.m. ET By Clark D. Cunningham Mr. Cunningham, an expert in legal ethics, is a law professor at Georgia State University. The case against Donald Trump in Georgia for allegedly participating in a criminal conspiracy to interfere with the 2020 election is more important than any individual actor managing the prosecution, and that includes the Fulton County district attorney, Fani Willis, and the case’s lead prosecutor, Nathan Wade. In recent weeks, Ms. Willis and Mr. Wade have found themselves in a spotlight that should belong to the serious charges against Mr. Trump. The two are the focus of a legal motion, and ensuing news reporting about a possible romantic relationship between them has explored whether it amounts to a conflict of interest with regard to the case. I’m a law professor in Georgia who teaches ethics and who has studied the legal consequences that might come if Ms. Willis and Mr. Wade are found to have a conflict, and I believe the judicious and farsighted course would be for Ms. Willis to take a personal leave of absence and turn over control of the district attorney’s office, and the case against Mr. Trump, to a career deputy district attorney. https://archive.is/rIGxz#selection-357.0-367.12 https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/24/opinion/fani-willis-trump-georgia.html
  22. I am not sure if this is true under Geirgia law. Neither just yet is commissioner Ellis:
  23. Great. I was way ahead on this one (26AUG2023): BTW this was my analysis when the Trump - Raffensperger call transcript first became available. DJT: I've heard that people are saying that 200,000 Martians landed in Georgia and voted illegally. Respnse: Nonsense. DJT: But that's what people are saying. And if only 10% of it is true, then that's 20,000 disqualified votes and that's all we need. https://aseannow.com/topic/1304591-trump-surrenders-for-historic-fourth-arrest/?do=findComment&comment=18303983
  24. Sure. No need for those bank accounts if all your money as above is non-traceable. Below the radar is the way to go.
  25. If you are in Atlanta, and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution or AJC is running articles that there really is only 'scant' prosecutorial record for Mr. Nathan Wade and no record of his ever serving as a felony prosecutor in Metro Atlanta, you got problems. https://www.allsides.com/news-source/atlanta-journal-constitution
