Trump leads Biden in 5 key battleground states: poll

Biden and his team will work to use Tuesday’s Democratic victories to their advantage — but it’s unclear whether voters will ultimately buy that https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4298989-five-takeaways-from-a-winning-election-night-for-democrats/ -
Trump leads Biden in 5 key battleground states: poll

https://edition.cnn.com/2023/11/05/politics/trump-leads-biden-in-key-swing-states-new-polling-finds/index.html Trump leads Biden in 4 key swing states, new polling finds Updated 8:06 PM EST, Sun November 5, 2023 Biden campaign spokesman Kevin Munoz downplayed the polling in a statement Sunday, telling CNN: “Predictions more than a year out tend to look a little different a year later.” “Coming off those historic (2022) midterms, President Biden’s campaign is hard at work reaching and mobilizing our diverse, winning coalition of voters one year out on the choice between our winning, popular agenda and MAGA Republicans’ unpopular extremism. We’ll win in 2024 by putting our heads down and doing the work, not by fretting about a poll,” Munoz said. ... With roughly a year until the general election, these polls, which were conducted by telephone from October 22 to November 3, capture only one snapshot of the electorate as it currently stands. But they show a broad sense of discontent. Across these six battleground states, registered voters give Biden low job approval marks (38% approve), with just 19% describing the economy as excellent or good. At the same time, only 42% in these states rate Trump favorably, similar to Biden’s 41% favorability rating. -

Time running out for GOP’s Trump alternatives

From an Opinion survey of NY Times columnists from June 12, 2023 to the question: How seriously should we take Donald Trump’s candidacy? From the extremely liberal Frank Bruni: We should take it with maximal, bone-chilling, psyche-ravaging, hope-slaying seriousness. Even under federal indictment, he’s the likeliest Republican nominee. And the Republican nominee ipso facto has a decent shot at the presidency. Which means a second term of Trump, heaven help us, is entirely possible. From the Conservative David French: Any person who argues that Democrats should want to face him in the general election should be hauled before a pundit tribunal and duly punished. There is no such thing as a safe race against Donald Trump. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/12/opinion/donald-trump-2024.html -

Appeals Court Temporarily Frees Trump From Gag Order in Election Case A three-judge panel of the federal appeals court in Washington lifted the order for at least two weeks, freeing the former president to say what he wants about prosecutors and witnesses. Nov. 3, 2023 An appeals court in Washington on Friday paused the gag order imposed on former President Donald J. Trump in the federal case accusing him of seeking to overturn the 2020 election, temporarily freeing him to go back to attacking the prosecutors and witnesses involved in the proceeding. In a brief order, a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia said the pause of about two weeks was needed to give it “sufficient opportunity” to decide whether to enact a longer freeze as the court considered the separate — and more important — issue of whether the gag order had been correctly imposed in the first place. The panel’s ruling came in response to an emergency request to lift the order pending appeal that Mr. Trump’s lawyers filed on Thursday night. While the judges — all three of whom were appointed by Democrats — paused the gag order until at least Nov. 20 to permit additional papers to be filed, they wrote in their decision on Friday that the brief stay “should not be construed in any way as a ruling on the merits” of Mr. Trump’s broader motion for a more sustained pause. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/03/us/politics/trump-gag-order-election-jan-6-appeal.html https://archive.ph/7jZaB -

Luxury brands remove Blackpink Lisa’s photos on social media

According to Wikipedia, in 2009 Ms. Lisa won a YG K-Pop spot from among 4000 applicants and was the first non-ethnic Korean signed to the label. All I will say is that, in 2009, she did not look like as in the photo above. -
Indirect response to the no way Ho-Zay post above, I will say that my back-of-the-envelope calculation as to my 70K baht/month retirement extension deposit with NO reference to DTA ie social security issues, using only deductions as available TODAY, my tax on income would be about $US 100 per month. I would prefer not paying it but will not invoke the Doomsday scenario because of it.

The late actors James Stewart and Henry Fonda were friends for over 50 years after first meeting as aspiring young actors at the summer stock theater on Cape Cod. Fonda was a die-hard liberal and Stewart an arch-Conservative. People asked how their friendship could last so long? Answer from both: They never discussed politics. There are topics/forums on here that, just about any time I post, I can expect responses, often times multiple responses and often from the same persons, to the effect: Mahoney, you are about the dumbest thing that ever walked. I prefer to get those type social interaction responses on here rather than in person where my response, if any, might not be so civil
