  1. Well at least as far as the new house goes, my wife's family bought it last year. I just rent it from them.
  2. So this is all moot point for you. And at least per Mazars: According to the Revenue Department, it will seek opinions from the stakeholders affected by the new rule and issue guidelines to provide more clarity. The plan includes an amendment of the personal income tax return form to facilitate the foreign tax credit claim. https://www.mazars.co.th/Home/Insights/Doing-Business-in-Thailand/Tax/Thailand-Tax-Foreign-Income-Taxable-from-2024
  3. REDUX: Again -- for the retirement coterie who brings in 65K+ baht every month -- it would be right now with available deductions about $US 100 per month income tax bill without any DTA-type exclusions. -- And with DTA US-THAI Article 20 Pensions & Social Security Payments maybe zero income tax due in Thailand.
  4. I had smashed collarbone courtesy of Ford F-150 pickup while riding my bicycle early one morning in Florida. First doctors said: Let's wait to if it heals. It only got worse. Finally went to Florida University-Shands hospital (hand micro-surgeon specialist) and he said: Comminuted fracture. It is not going to heal. It was never going to heal. So for almost 30 years I have have a collarbone with a titanium plate and screws which is glaringly evident every time I have a chest x-ray.
  5. Good to also remember the old saying: He who laughs last, laughs best. (John Heywood's book of proverbs, 1546)
  6. UOB Singapore will issue (under certain circumstances) A Singapore based mortgage for property in Thailand. https://www.uob.com.sg/personal/borrow/property-loans/international-property-loan.page
  7. OOPS very good. I just watched it . Got my dollar quotes mixed-up. it was: Eve Kendall: I tipped the steward five dollars to seat you here if you should come in. Again -- for the retirement coterie who brings in 65K+ baht every month -- it would be right now with available deductions about $US 100 per month income tax bill without any DTA-type exclusions.
  8. Thank you. Nice to occasionally read something other than --
  9. I was with BUPA/Thailand pre-Aetna and then CIGNA Global (CIGNA Belgium underwriter). I then I moved to an area where CIGNA Global had no direct-pay hospitals and their procedures to deal with no direct-pay were burdensome. So I started looking primarily to get a direct-pay set-up. Sometimes what may prove best for someone may not be only what A.M. Best has to say.
  10. At least based upon my 2 for 2 claims paid, nothing as yet.
  11. Yes. As in Sir Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest: Roger -- pay the 5 dollars.
  12. Me as well however AIS is still listed as the claims processor which is where all the resigned Thai director were employed. https://www.wrlife.net/documents/WRLIFE CLAIM SETTLEMENT PROCESS.pdf And note that the German version of the above still listing AIS is dated 09 NOVEMBER 2023 WRLIFE CLAIM SETTLEMENT PROCESS GERMAN
  13. https://aseannow.com/topic/1286793-wrlife-claim-filed-take-2/?do=findComment&comment=17906063 And regarding the post above, anybody can write that the company's reviews and the company itself are suspect to me. (even with their clothes on)
  14. The Georgia district attorney who charged Trump expects his trial to be underway over Election Day Updated 5:34 AM GMT+7, November 15, 2023 ATLANTA (AP) — The Georgia district attorney who charged former President Donald Trump over his efforts to overturn the state’s 2020 election said Tuesday that she expects his trial will be underway through Election Day next year and could possibly stretch past the inauguration in 2025. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis made the comments at an event sponsored by The Washington Post. Her remarks came shortly after Willis asked a judge for an emergency protective order to prevent evidence in the case from being leaked, just a day after news outlets reported on prosecutors’ video interviews with four co-defendants who have pleaded guilty in the case. https://apnews.com/article/trump-georgia-election-trial-willis-dd6266f9183a0c22d8b745d5236b0974
  15. Well the appeal has been filed and accepted by the mid-level NY State appeals court. Maybe they and then maybe even the high appeals court will agree with you. But they haven't as yet. This is their stated legal basis for an appeal whether ultimately bona fide or not
  16. Whatever team Trump's prior record on appeals, it would only take one to overturn Judge Engoron's initial initial summary judgment fraud ruling -- and the first level NY State appellate court has yet to issue their opinion on that. https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/23991872/ny-ruling-on-trump-business-fraud.pdf
  17. No. 5: Troy K. Webber, Justice Presiding, David Friedman Lizbeth González Manuel J. Mendez Martin Shulman, Justices. SUPREME COURT OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK APPELLATE DIVISION: FIRST DEPARTMENT (their caps)
  18. Updated November 10, 2023 Also Thursday (09NOV), Trump’s lawyers renewed their call to halt the trial at least until the appeals court makes a final decision on Engoron’s fraud finding. In court papers, they wrote that the judge had shown a “gross and open disregard for the integrity of the process” and was causing “mounting irreparable harm” for the defendants. https://apnews.com/article/donald-trump-letitia-james-fraud-trial-arthur-engoron-new-york-9b8ac3f485607b5aa95f35ab724efcd4
  19. and this from Florida: Ohio Voted to Protect Abortion Rights. Could Florida Be Next? A coalition of groups collecting petition signatures for a ballot protecting abortion rights says its fund-raising got a boost after the Ohio results. By Patricia Mazzei That triumphant streak has propelled campaigns for similar abortion measures in swing, or potentially swing, states, including Arizona, Florida, Nevada and Pennsylvania. But none might be as tantalizing a prize as Florida, which has moved increasingly out of Democrats’ grasp in electoral contests. But getting a question on next year’s ballot in the state is hardly guaranteed. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/11/us/abortion-ballot-measures-florida.html https://archive.is/Gz5Cp
  20. Are you from Australia?
  21. In my heydays as an NGO director, I often said that my comments followed a simple dictate: Make sure your comment is sufficiently succinct so that the person has already finished reading it before they realize they wish that they hadn't read it.
  22. Trump to appear on Minnesota ballot after 14th Amendment challenge dismissed 11/08/23 5:53 PM ET Former President Trump will now appear on the Minnesota ballot after the state Supreme Court dismissed a challenge arguing the former president should be disqualified from the primary ballot under the 14th Amendment. The Minnesota Supreme Court dismissed the case in an order Wednesday, saying neither the courts nor election officials in the state have the authority to prevent the Republican Party from placing Trump as a candidate on the GOP primary ballot. Five Minnesota Supreme Court justices weighed in on the case after two others recused themselves. https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/4300645-trump-minnesota-ballot-14th-amendment-challenge-dismissed/ (NB this decision involves the MN primary election ballot only)
  23. Thanks. I just went via that YouTube vid and typed into YT search "2024 Thailand taxes" and there is a whole sub-industry in these 'advices'.
