The US Presidential election is barely one year away. There are very few scenarios wherein DJTrump will not be the Republican nominee. And here we are discussing whether Ms. Powell -- who for going on 3 years most persons had figured as a total nut case -- is being touted as kryptonite to Trump's Superman. -

Other than this?: Prosecutors will need lots of hard corroboration — emails, texts, notes, recordings — for Powell and Chesebro’s testimony. -

The Chesebro and Powell plea deals could be a nail in Trump’s legal coffin Oct. 21, 2023, 5:00 PM +07 None of this is to suggest that their testimony will necessarily be convincing. Cooperating witnesses, by definition, are criminals — they committed crimes, pled guilty to those crimes and agreed to testify truthfully against others — and rebuilding her credibility for a trial jury will be no easy task for prosecutors. For example, there is plenty of video of Powell making outrageous — and ultimately false — claims of election fraud. Defense attorneys will vigorously cross-examine her along the lines of, “Were you lying then or are you lying now?” You can see how cross-examination of Powell might unfold: “Ms. Powell, you were facing the rest of your life in prison, but all you had to do was falsely implicate Donald Trump to receive an obscenely lenient plea deal. Ms. Powell, you would have said anything DA Willis wanted you to say to avoid jail, isn’t that right?” Prosecutors will need lots of hard corroboration — emails, texts, notes, recordings — for Powell and Chesebro’s testimony. https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-opinion/kenneth-chesebro-sidney-powells-pleas-mean-trump-rcna121386 -
The language "shall be taxable only in that (issuing) State" occurs in the US-Thailand DTA. Even if some income is tax-free in the US and no US tax paid, it still could not be taxed in Thailand if so remitted. Such income, even if required to be declared, would be exempt as in the RD FAQ: 9. What is the method for elimination of double taxation provided in the(DTA) agreement? - In a double taxation agreement, there are credit and exemption methods.

All my quotes today have been from the NY Times. And as has been posted on here before: Enough of this ‘he’s going to get away with it all nonsense’. I’m sure The NY Times needs the traffic generated by keeping everyone on the hook with ‘he’s going to get away with it all’ -

If you says so. Plenty of published articles and opinions by dis-interested former prosecutors, legal scholars, and others would not agree with that statement. The odds are against Trump in all circumstances but that ain't the same thing. -

I don't know who hopes what. One of the reasons that 98% of Federal indictments result in plea bargain is that few except large corporations have the financial ability to put up al legal defense and motion after motion let alone to multiple charges in multiple jurisdictions concurrently. -

Beats me. As yet they are only un-indicted co-conspirators in the WashDC case. As per the above link, they could refuse to self-incriminate at any future federal trial but anything they said in any Georgia trial could be used against them. -

He might. In the US there is a phrase "Getting off on a technicality" wherein even though everyone knows the perp actually did it, the prosecution screws up and the jury knows it. -

Thank you. Courtesy Ms. Maggie Haberman: Then again, if he (Chesebro) did give testimony in Georgia, any statements he made from the stand would be fair game for Mr. Smith’s prosecutors if they ultimately decided to bring charges. “Cheseboro and Powell are both unindicted co-conspirators in a pending federal indictment. That could make it hard for them to get on the stand in Georgia because truthful answers under oath in that jurisdiction could expose them to criminal liability in the federal case,” said (Chuck Rosenberg, a former U.S. attorney and senior F.B.I. official.) “There is also an open question about how credible they might be — given some of the outlandish claims they made — before a Georgia jury,” he said. “Any good prosecutor would need to weigh the costs and benefits of putting either one of them on the stand.” https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/20/us/politics/chesebro-plea-deal-georgia-trump.html -

And maybe others will go for plea deals. But note to you and others who like to reference the 'overwhelming evidence', evidence isn't evidence until it is admitted in court. I remember reading an obituary for musician David Crosby who said: I am really not unlike any other drug addict. The only difference was: I had lots of money. 98% of all federal indictments result in plea bargains. There are very few indicted on federal charges who can outspend the Feds. -

Kenneth Chesebro, a Trump-Aligned Lawyer, Pleads Guilty in Georgia The fact that there will be no trial next week for Mr. Chesebro and Ms. Powell is a strategic boon for prosecutors. Because they were going to have to lay out large sections of their case against all the defendants to prove that the two at trial were part of a sweeping racketeering conspiracy, lawyers for Mr. Trump and others would have been effectively offered a preview of the case that they would have to defend against. In a statement on Friday, Steven H. Sadow, Mr. Trump’s lead lawyer in Georgia, said that Mr. Chesebro’s guilty plea appeared to be influenced by “the looming threat of prison time.” “However, ” he added, “it is very important for everyone to note that the RICO charge and every other count was dismissed. Once again, I fully expect that truthful testimony would be favorable to my defense strategy.” https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/20/us/kenneth-chesebro-trump-guilty-plea-georgia.html https://archive.ph/wTcZS -

As many court observers have written, the same evidence as would be presented at the Chesebro trial would be much the same evidence to be used at Trump's eventual trial. They just get a sneak preview. Not that they can challenge anything. -

I did. At least as of this moment, the Chesebro trial is on schedule. He has per reports rejected a plea deal. If it does go ahead, Trump lawyers can sit in the back and hear the evidence presented against Chesebro. -

What opinion? Ms. Powell has pleaded guilty. Chesebro per reports just yesterday has rejected a plea deal. So at least for now, a Trump lawyer could sit in the back of that trial if it stays on schedule.
