  1. Normally, it should appear under settings. Call your provider first to enable Wifi calling, then enable it on your phone.
  2. Yes
  3. I am another one who has never been asked for a TM30. I don't think I even have one.
  4. How did you manage to be treated by these professors. AFAIK it is graduating students and junior staff. Special clinic? After hours clinic?
  5. My mouth is full of crowns done by students about to graduate (their final assignment). Every dentist I have seen later said they are very good. No experiences with Mahidol, though
  6. Because nobody else wants to hear it
  7. This is the normal way every Thai buys house and car. I quote a Thai girl having plans to get a car from her farang boyfriend: "Who in his right mind would buy a car and pay cash??? That would be completely crazy!" Actually, I can't think of a country where people usually buy houses or cars paying cash.
  8. Ask your bank. (My source is not in English so cannot be quoted here and you wouldn't understand it anyway)
  9. That's true, I got the mRNA vaccines, too (both of them!), and died soon afterwards. Fortunately, my loving relatives buried my phone with me so I can still post on AN.
  10. The police had quotas to fulfill, how many people they had to kill. And they got lists whom to kill. Even in small places. Everybody at the time knew this, Thais being Thais, nobody talked much about it. And nobody is talking about it now. Yes, Thaksin did more for the poor than all former governments. No doubt about it. And his inflationary economic policy (made by Morgan Stanley) laid the foundations that changed Thailand from a feudal rural society into a modern country: compulsory schooling for much more than just 5 years, made possible through student loans; raising the minimum wage so people were forced out of unproductive jobs (no more hordes of salesgirls sleeping on their counter); all kinds of grants and loans, e.g. village funds, for big parts of the population. Retarius maybe knows that a whole generation of Germans excused Hitler because, after all, he built the Autobahns.
  11. Not obvious at all. Plenty of studies that can't find this effect.
  12. I guess you are talking about prepaid packages? (I have a 20 years old postpaid number, the last 5 or 6 years I kept it mainly because of the DTAC call app, that was very convenient)
  13. I guessed so. My DTAC SIM is in a drawer in Bangkok, but my AIS SIM is in my Note FE. So in the meantime I tried Wifi calling by AIS - works ok. So I will probably just ditch DTAC.
  14. The point is I can be reached under my phone number, it doesn't cost me anything, even if I am not in Thailand. Making calls is the easy part, plenty of apps for this
  15. I have this pdf, but my settings look very different. It is S7 edge with Android 8. I also have Note FE with Android 8, the menu there shows Wifi calling. DTAC says my number is activated for Wifi calling already. I guess I try next week when I am in Thailand again
  16. The "DTACcall" app lets me make phone calls from any country for Thai domestic rates. It works if I have internet, it can be Wifi or it can be mobile data from the foreign SIM in my phone. They recommend "Wifi calling" instead (not available on my Galaxy S7 Edge, doesn't work with mobile data, and DTAC SIM has to be in the phone). Any better idea? True used to have a similar app, but it didn't work very well.
  17. That's a law starting from Jan 1, 2023. Regulations before were kind of complicated. You are right that a German state pension is not 100% proof that the person isn't working anymore.
  18. Pretty much every 7 in Bangkok sells at least bananas, often also other fruit, sometimes vegetables. In Bangkok, they also sell unsweetened green tea (never seen it upcountry). Some also have onigiri and sushi, not only the usual junk food. Also frozen fish.
  19. Just before covid, Thailand opened a new general consulate in Munich, Germany. All new staff. This consulate initially insisted that only retired persons could get a "retirement visa" (as they called it). Applicants had to prove that they were actually retired as opposed to working by showing them that they got a state pension. They were very outspoken about the notion of retirement. As if they had read cleopatra's post. After covid, they gave the so-called retirement visa to anyone over 50.
  20. I had a look at several non-imm O visa stickers, all issued for retirement. 2013 the sticker says "employment prohibited" 2018 the sticker doesn't say so another one from 2018: the sticker doesn't say so 2022 e-visa: it doesn't say so They are all from the same country, the ones from 2013 and 2022 are from the same consulate, the ones from 2018 are from another consulate.
  21. This is a common reason for first-time seizures in Pattaya, the most common drug being alcohol. The problem with being frank with the doctor is that the doctor might be frank with the insurance. Better check before.
  22. No country for old men
  23. Thailand did plan to participate in the Automatic Exchange of Information, starting 2023. In the end, they are not participating yet. I guess it's because of the delay finding a new government, and I guess they will participate next year.
  24. With the physical exertion involved in partnered sexual activity, you will get even more tired. As mentioning 2 posts earlier.
