He should have asked for plane ticket home, and maybe borrow for meeting US requirements from you and his family. Instead he choosed to stay dependent on you and your money. That has led to the situation he is in today. Partly his fault and partly yours. Because you didn´t send him home from start or stopped give him money. That would have been real help from start. Sure it is! When foreigners comes to Thailand, they get angry they can not buy and own houses. But when home country does same, then it´s just all good.

You just have to obtain an extension based on having a Thai child instead of marriage visa. Economical requirements will be same, and you will show birth certificate instead of a document that you are married. After that you will need the mothers signature, if you are not having sole custody of your child.

No, it does not sound correct. Actually never heard of it. A given visa or extension is not changed a few month after. Sounds very strange to me.
