The job includes checking bars and nightclubs, drugs and illegal activities of foreigners such as overstay, carrying prohibited drugs or using such. Here they chose to do that at the same time. What is wrong? You don´t have anything to worry about if you do not use drugs or go to places know for that or are on overstay illegally in the country. Why would you consider it invasive and clumsy if you are in the clear. Let them check and give them a smile.

If they see me first it comes a happy Good Morning in English followed by a smile. After that they speak to me, and look at me, as one of them who lived here for many years now. Another example, when I go to the market, no one is lifting an eye when I walk by. There are no children in the whole city who points at me and say farang. The only thing I have done to achieve that is to smile back at them, be polite, joke with them and talk to them. You see how easy it can be. You should try it some time.
