I was bitten by a cat a few months ago. I had not been previously vaccinated against rabies. I was advised by a private hospital doctor I needed a series of 5 vaccination shots (administered in the shoulder as with most vaccines) and an HRIG shot administered around the site of the bite. HRIG is Human Rabies Immunoglobin vaccine made from human blood. There is also ERIG which is Equine Rabies Immunoglobin vaccine made from horses blood. HRIG is supposed to be better than ERIG but both will do the trick. The private hospital wanted to charge me 35,000 baht for the HRIG but the nurses very kindly whispered to me that it was available at any government hospital and that I had time. I declined the HRIG at the private hospital and went to a government hospital the next day where it cost me 1,800 THB for ERIG. It must have worked because I'm still here today! I think that even if you have been previously vaccinated it is recommended to have the HRIG/ERIG

Thanks for the feedback and it supports what I had been thinking. I thought I would see if I could get them (I have 2) repaired first without using FX service as I have heard they are terrible. One of the printers I have had for several years without any problems until recently but the other was quite expensive. Was great when it worked but it didn't last long. Looks like I need to splurge on a new printer - it won't be FX!

Hi Does anyone know where I can get a FujiXerox printer repaired in Bangkok? I would like to avoid FujiXerox themselves if possible. I tried a couple of places that fix printers but they shook their heads when I said FujiXerox. Thanks

I don't think they will allow the passengers to disembark as it is not scheduled to land there. They will have to wait on the plane until Suvarnabhum is open again. Happened to me once but the other way round. My flight was scheduled to land at DM but due to the weather we diverted to Suvarnabhum. We had to wait on the plane over an hour until the weather cleared and then flew to to DM

Better to have the exact amount per person (as in if there are 2 of you don't take 3 x $20) and pay in dollars. They might take Thai Baht but you will end up paying far more. It will depend on how many people are making the crossing but it shouldn't take much more than an hour each direction and it isn't difficult. My experience is from the Aranyaprathet/Poipet crossing in 2020 which is notoriously difficult and corrupt so it may not apply to Ban Pakard - others might be able to give you more current information. At Aranyaprathet if you wanted to do a border bounce and come back in visa exempt they wouldn't let you do it the same day and made you stay overnight in Poipet (not sure if you could overcome this with an extra "payment"). As I wasn't coming back to Thailand on visa exempt I was ok. It might be totally different at Ban Pakard but be prepared just in case.

He could actually do it on the same day since he already has the money in the bank. He goes and gets his 30 day extension and then immediately apply for the non O. It will save him an extra visit to immigration. He just needs to get his paperwork in order in the next few days.

Have you considered travelling to the outskirts of Bangkok by car/pickup and then catching either BTS or MRT to wherever you are going in Bangkok? Many of the stations have good parking to encourage people to do just that. It might be an acceptable compromise. The MRT blue line goes to Lak Song. Others who live out that way might be able to let you know how practical that is.

Myanmar did away with arrival/departure forms in 2019. Much better I read an article a while back that immigration were considering getting rid of TM6 ........... because they were running out of space to store them!????

Your kids will be able to enter Thailand with expired passports. A Thai friend of mine has a sister doing exactly that after checking with the Embassy where she is living. You may need to do as Ubonjoe suggests to satisfy the airlines though as they might not accept the expired passports - I don't know for sure. Perhaps you should check with the airline.

I disagree. I know a number of people who have been visiting Thailand for a few months each year for many years. They are tourists and probably have seen more of the country than many of us. It is far easier and cheaper for them to open a Thai bank account and transfer money into that each visit than carry around wads of cash or travellers cheques or use the debit card from their own country. Embassies and IO understand that. It is more likely that your travel history to Thailand or incomplete information is going to trip you up when applying for a visa than having a Thai bank account.

You can't send funds from South Africa using Wise but you may be able to use Wise for an account in USA - not sure if they will accept a South African bank though. Best thing is to check with them. For a multi currency account you need an address in one of the countries they have the multi currency accounts in which includes USA but not either South Africa or Thailand because they don't have banking licenses there. They don't accept mobile phone bills as proof of address. You can use Wise without the multi currency account by registering a local address in Thailand with them which is what I did initially. You can then transfer from USA to a Thai bank account. Using this method, they will set up the transfer and give you a Wise account number in USA (assuming you use USA) to transfer the funds into. since it is a local transfer, it may not matter if your bank is South African. It's a bit more expensive doing it this way but still cheaper than a regular bank transfer. I haven't used this method for a while so my info might be a little out of date. Good luck.

Could always use WeTransfer. The file sizes are probably too big for email. I have used WeTransfer many times for this reason

Hi I was sitting in my easy chair in the lounge this morning and suddenly noticed this insect scurrying across the tiles. Initially I thought it was a small spider but on closer inspection I think it is a mite of some sort. I keep a very clean apartment that is vacuumed twice a week. No pets and the condo management do pest control regularly. does anyone know what it is, are there likely to be more lurking around and how do I get rid of them?

I was using an APEC card coming into Thailand without any problems for several years. Was never asked for an itinerary. Was using it up to early last year.

AIS don't let you do it anymore. I used to have Netflix through them but they stopped it a while back.

I have been taking my car there for years too - very easy and they will also supply the mandatory insurance too if you don't already have it.

You can buy a used car with any visa but I think you need a work permit to buy a new car (don't ask me why). You used to be able to use the work permit in lieu of certificate of residency but as they no longer put your address in the work permit you can't do that anymore as I found out earlier this year. Depending on your Embassy, if you tell them you want a residency certificate to buy a car then they can word it accordingly (for a fee of course). I started to go down the immigration certificate of residency route in Bangkok but after jumping through the usual hoops, the IO told me they would post it out to me and it would take 2-3 weeks. I caught my 300 THB "fee" just as it was about to disappear into her purse and told her not to bother. The dealer I was buying my car from wouldn't let me have the blue book without the residency certificate and I didn't want to wait 3 weeks for it.
