Can a foreign-owned business get a fair shot in a lawsuit against a Thai PCL?
I would think it would be difficult to determine exactly when and where the chemical contamination occurred.
I would "think" that there should have been insurance to cover the shipment in the event of loss or damage.
One thing is always true and that is even those winning lawsuits and being awarded damages are still left trying to find a way to collect the damages.-

I worked for Merrill Lynch for a period of time. The favorite answer as to why stock prices were going up was " More buyers than sellers" The same is true here.
When supplies are limited and demand either remains constant or goes up then prices rise. When supplies are plentiful or demand declines the price goes down. -

Chanya's test result comes with a doctor's certificate, signed and stamped, for what that's worth.
With the doctors certificate singed and stamped you can go to almost any restaurant in Thailand along with approximately 50 baht and get a cup of coffee.

The promotion is still running. I went to Jomtien Hospital last Friday, 07 Jan, and the cost for single lens replacement was quoted at 39,000 Baht per eye - and I have this in writing. I fully expect there to be additional charges for medication or whatever.
The eye examination was free but I felt was not particularly thorough - no check for glaucoma, for instance
I also went to Jomtien last week but went on Thursday. There were two doctors I saw that made appointments. The doctor on Thursday is Dr. Santa Methasiri. I checked before making the appointment and this man's education and training were excellent. That is why I chose to go on Thursday.
Now though the examination was not as extensive as what I got at Queen Sirikit, I was there mostly to ask about what lens he recommended and if there was any reason not to do the surgery.
He said exactly the same thing as 4 other ophthalmologists have told me. Stay away from multi focal IOL lenses. They all say it is difficult to get the power of the lens correctly and if the fitting is not perfect that because the lens has several focal points that the vision might actually be worse than before the surgery. Also, that light refraction at night can often by worse because of the different focal points.
For me, he said simple single vision lenses or single vision lens with Toric correction for astigmatism was the best route. He said to go with clear lens rather than yellow for clearer vision and better color vision.
Overall, I was very pleased with my visit. I am scheduled on Tuesday to go to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya to get the machine reading to determine if I do or do not need Toric lens and to calculate the power of correction for the surgery. I am scheduled for the 20th at Jomtien for the surgery.
39,000 baht for single vision lens, 56,000 baht for single vision/Toric lens. So I will know Tuesday which of these I need.

And you can buy a ATK yourself for 49 Baht from 7/11 and do the test yourself
Exactly,
No, I would need the PCR test. I may however test myself with the ATK before getting the PCR to make sure I don't test positive.
The worst thing would be to test positive and then have the authorities throw me into a hospital for 15 days. -

Chanya does not do PCR tests. Only ATK ones at 790 bahts.
I wondered about that. I thought the price of 799 was too good to be true.

I am wondering if anyone has found a location to do a PCR test in Pattaya other than Bangkok Hospital that wants 3,800 baht or Pattaya International that is 3,500 baht. Both of those are substantially higher than the tests available in Bangkok.

Have you thought of subcontracting out your excess to the Provincial Waterworks Authority?

She has both. One is used for white clothes and one is used for colored clothing.

Every store shelf in Thailand - Haiter is name as above.
I have seen Haier but did not realize it was a chlorine bleach My GF uses that brand but it sure does not smell like chlorine. I thought perhaps you had to get at a pool supply store. Apparently chlorine bleach can be used to make some form of chemical bomb. I thought that bleach might be the reason you don't see things like nitrate fertilizer's here the way you do in the USA.

Where can you even find chlorine bleach? You sure can't find it in any of the supermarkets or hardware stores.

This is not a huge problem but I have as many do an above ground water storage tank for those times that the municipal water supply runs out. About every 6 to 9 months it is required to clean the inside of the tank. This is not a very fun or easy job. Are there systems or products that others use to maintain their tank and keep the inside of the tank clean.

Can someone explain why it is that coronavirus can only be caught in a restaurant and is especially transmittable in those restaurants that serve alcohol.
Put another way why is it that I can't get covid and therefore don't need to be tested when I go on a BTS train, a baht bus, into a 7/11 into a Maakro, Tesco Lotus, or Big C. Even more puzzling is why I don't need to be tested since I must not be able to get Covid while visiting a hospital to get a vaccine shot, or a medical check up. Its funny since I was at Queen Sirkit last week and there would not only hundreds of people inside but the waiting rooms were enclosed and people had to be seated shoulder to shoulder.
Its amazing how Covid only rears it ugly head at restaurants.-

https://www.thedrive.com/tech/40407/1-in-5-ev-buyers-switch-back-to-gas-powered-cars-study
Those who were least likely to stick with electric vehicles were the ones who depended on them for their only means of transportation—so essentially people who only had one car, and the EV was it. People who lived in places where home charging was difficult also abandoned electric cars at a higher rate.
So bottom line, even those with electric cars were more likely to switch back to gas and were less likely to do so if they had a back up gas car to make up for the deficiencies of owning just one electric car. -

Absolutely NOTHING you could do or say would make a smidgen of difference in the attitude of Thai people towards foreigners. Might as well take the easy road
I "might" agree somewhat with you. However the statement of the OP pretty well characterized his opinion of the Thai's. If he thinks that somehow his attitude is not recognized and returned in kind, he is fooling himself.
While you will never win over everyone who shows prejudice against foreigners, I have always opted for the approach that I treat people the way I hope they treat me back.
If he showed some degree of respect for the Thai's instead of calling them a bunch of criminals, he might find their attitude towards him improves. -
In the USA the Real Estate agents have access to the records filed with the government that show how much a home sold for. If a person is purchasing a home in a particular area, a buyer can then research what "similar" homes of "similar" size sold for in the near past to get some idea of how much the homes are actually selling for.
In Thailand, is there a place where a seller or buyer must record the contract that identifies the price? If yes, where would someone obtain those records? Would a real estate agent have access to them, if a private person does not?

I have a 4 camera WI Fi system with recorder that I want placed on the outside of home and set up to record. I understand these are plug and play systems but I am 73 and don't want to be crawling on the roof to place and affix the cameras. If someone knows of an installer who is familiar with setting up camera systems. I think those with familiarity with satellite systems are also competent. Please send me a PM. Thank You.

You have the majority of the country unable to purchase a car let alone an electric car. Also, while electric cars may be a viable option for those living in single family homes, those living in apartment buildings would certainly find charging their car daily to be an impossibility. Finally, you have to have the charging stations conveniently located and numerous in order for people to rely on electric cars as their sole source of transportation.
It may happen, but I suspect it will be decades not years before you see considerable movement in that direction. By that time, technology may very well come up with an alternative to electric powered vehicles. I own a Toyota Cross Hybrid and it gets 17.4 KM per litre. Now why would I want to spend a huge amount more just to go totally electric?-

What is it about restaurants and particularly those that serve alcohol that drives the politicians to draw particular aim at them.
I dine out two to three times per week. Typically it is in an open air restaurant and the tables are separated. By contrast, I go into Makro, Tesco Lotus, ThaiWatsadu and I am in an enclosed building with hundreds of people. I stand in a check out line where people are queued together closely.
But somehow only the servers, cooks, entertainers etc are subject to having to get tested daily. Heck, the typical cashier at Maakro comes into closer contact with far more people daily than a server does at a restaurant and certainly more than the cook or entertainer.-

I believe what you are referring to is called "rooting" I would try Tukcom. There are many phone stores there for unlocking so I would guess they would also do the rooting as well.

I assume these are lens option in Rupee's.
As I understand it, India's prices are very good however you have to figure into it your travel expenses, lodging, and of course PCR tests to enter India, and re-enter Thailand. In the end, I doubt traveling to India would be cost effective. -

Agreed. Actually, 40k seems suspiciously cheap. Of course, this was not an actual quote, just what the nurse told my wife,
I went to the Jomtien Hospital web site and it said they were running a promotion through Dec. 31, 2021 of 39,000 baht per eye. That of course was the standard lens. I tried to check again after December 31, 2021 to see if it had continued. The link to the promotion will not load.
So when the nurse told you about 40,000 I think she was correct. Now the question is will they continue that in 2022. -
