Tax on 20,000 interest
Some good information here if anyone wants to know more: https://sherrings.com/bank-savings-deposits-interest-income-tax-reporting-thailand.html

Tax on 20,000 interest
Yes I have gone over it. I just assumed I would only need to pay tax on the excess but apparently not.

Tax on 20,000 interest
I work in Thailand and pay income tax. I have given them my TIN and previously they haven't deducted any tax until this month. For November they deducted 100% of my interest as tax and when I called them, they said it's because I have to pay tax on all of the interest I have already received this year.

Tax on 20,000 interest
My bank (SCB) told me if you earn over 20,000 baht in interest you have to pay 15% tax on the whole amount, not just the amount that's over 20,000. Does anyone know if this is correct? So someone who earns 20,000 exactly pays no tax and someone who earns 20,001 pays 3,000 in tax....seems unfair 🤔.

I'm guessing there are no 350kW public chargers in Thailand? That would solve the problem of condo living with no charging at home.

Scb Ez Account Paying Interest Every Month?
I gave them my tax ID last year and they haven't deducted any tax until now. I'm still working and I'm over the 20,000 tax free interest limit so maybe they are deducting back taxes or something. I'll call them tomorrow for an explanation.

Scb Ez Account Paying Interest Every Month?
Same thing happened to me last month and no tax deducted. This month however I just received my interest at midnight on 25th and then it was all immediately deducted as tax! 100% tax! I thought savings interest is supposed to be taxed at 15%? Did anyone else check their statement yet?

BTS Fare increase FINALLY
Same news last year but it's still free: https://www.thaipbsworld.com/bts-to-begin-charging-fares-on-green-line-extensions-from-august/

BTS Fare increase FINALLY
They have said this several times before but it never happened as the BMA doesn't have the legal authority to set the fares since the extensions pass through Samut Prakarn and Pathum Thani provinces. Like most announcements in Thailand, take it with a pinch of salt.

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
I thought the same. Maybe they don't have qualified technicians or the parts available in Thailand as presumably the batteries are assembled in China.

The first link is actually a BYD Atto 3 battery where rats chewed a hole in the plastic cover and the repair bill was nearly 700k THB. This happened in Thailand and it was covered by the insurance in this case...expect insurance premiums to go up if this happens more often.

Highway Collapses on Sukhumvit Soi 64/1 in Bangkok [video]
Apparently the truck had a special bribe sticker allowing it to be overweight: https://x.com/thaienquirer/status/1722183127874113698?s=53&t=kW-ayEcR4oeDMnQg8bhFYQ

Coffee pod machine.
The 'espresso' pods that came with the machine don't taste like espresso at all but more like drip coffee. They don't have the body or mouthfeel of real espresso. Since then I've started using a stainless steel reusable capsule with my own coffee which is a bit better but still not great as I think the pressure isn't high enough to make real espresso. I'm considering upgrading to a real espresso machine but the good ones seem to be made in Italy with a lot of tax added on for the Thai price.

Coffee pod machine.
I have a Dolce Gusto machine and I think it's a bit rubbish. Most of the cheaper espresso machines only come with a pressurised double wall portafilter too.

SAIC-CP have started making the MG 4 in Thailand now. https://www.nationthailand.com/business/automobile/40032564

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
To be fair I think this is a valid point even for Thailand. As the battery technology improves, older EVs will become less desirable. I think someone recently mentioned they sold their 4 year old MG ZS EV for 560k which must have been less than half of what they paid for it.

Good for him but I'm guessing that's a luxury condo as most condos in Bangkok don't even come with one allocated parking space. Usually it's a free for all with only enough parking for around 35% of rooms and double parking everywhere.

Maybe she should try putting a bit less sugar in her drinks...

Thai woman allegedly kills husband by repeatedly stabbing in the face
And I have a hunch that he didn't... Judging by the violent nature of the crime...stabbing him several times in the face and leaving him for dead hardly screams self-defense.

So how much did you sell it for? I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in the depreciation of EVs in Thailand.

Electric bill scam!
Yes but it's only in Thai: https://mgronline.com/onlinesection/detail/9660000049697 I think the official Line account is legit but there also probably a lot of fake clones so beware. I know the MEA is a different entity and I don't think the MEA system relies on smart meters...they just want to save on paper and printing costs but they still read the meters manually AFAIK.
-
Electric bill scam!
Actually it's not a scam according to Thai media. In Bangkok they are nagging us to use e-billing on MEA connect or something. I just pay my bill through the Thai banking apps it's very easy and it saves all your details and knows your bill amount already.

How does it compare to your MG 4? Considering it's what, nearly twice the price?

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
They are just for show and completely impractical. My condo of around 800 units has two 7kW chargers but you have to book a slot and it's 50 THB/hour with overtime fees of 100 THB/hour.
