  1. Just been checking............ The term "20/20 vision" originates from the Snellen chart, which was developed by Dutch ophthalmologist Hermann Snellen in 1862. The chart is used to measure visual acuity, which is the clarity or sharpness of vision. In this system, "20/20" vision means that a person can see at 20 feet what a person with normal vision can see at 20 feet. The first number represents the distance at which a person with normal vision can clearly see a specific line of letters or symbols on the chart, and the second number indicates the distance at which the person being tested can see the same line. For example, if someone has 20/40 vision, it means they have to be 20 feet away to see something that a person with normal vision could see from 40 feet away. Conversely, if someone has 20/10 vision, they can see something clearly at 20 feet that a person with normal vision could only see from 10 feet away, indicating better-than-normal visual acuity.
  2. Sad to say this comes as no shock.....I'd never fly even with Thai Air.....how many years were they red flagged? Thai Airways is not currently red-flagged by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The airline had previously been flagged by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in 2015/2016 due to safety concerns, but those issues have since been resolved.
  3. One thing if they are out at sea.....another if they are moored up in the marina....555
  4. We have two in the village next to us.........same owner, same house.....no collars, house has no aircon, both free to roam.......they will kill someone one day.........but better to allow a child to be mauled to death than someone does or says anything.
  5. That is one of the more eloquent, well constructed responses to be fair.
  6. I'm guessing 20' ..........hence the term 20/20 vision.
  7. Got about 0.5 rai of 'lawn'........(it looks like grass from a distance)......and it seems to need cutting every 20 mins in this weather. Been strimming it and it is killing me. Looking for a wide cut, gasoline mower.....pushed or driven (not sat on). Honda seems to be the go to model over here...... would anyone care to recommend a mower/model of any make? 🍻
  8. Soz....I have a triple decker fried egg and bacon sandwich on its way.....plus a cup of Earl Grey......I strimmed 0.5 rai yesterday and this is my treat....555
  9. They were weird (not in a Trump/Vance way)......maybe I should have persisted??....but after a week I was more than happy to put them in the bin.
  10. Mmmm. yes have seen them advertised....a possibility. I've just read somewhere that it is not uncommon for distance vision to improve with age......just before it deteriorates again!!!!
  11. Thanks....I've have always had bifocals.....I need trifocals......tried varifocals but they drove me mad.
  12. He's been waiting for the judges and SCOTUS to stop fannying about trying to confer total immunity on the 34 times felon.
  13. I thought the whole process was delayed by judges and SCOTUS......when did Smith try to delay it?
  14. Just to add to my previous post...they are keen to see some reason that would make her want to return to Thailand.....land, property, children, employment. I can't see for the life of me that they would know she is finishing work unless her paychecks suddenly stopped ...say...three months ago.
  15. They only care that some can financially support her or she can demonstrate she can support herself.....just bang in bank statements, savings, investments etc. We've applied about 20 times....she's been unemployed, employed about to employed, about to leave employment......never been an issue.
  16. Focus on something that looks little blurred....... then view it through a small/tiny hole.....if the image is now sharp you have an astigmatism. Lens can compensate to a degree...on your prescription it is cyl.....cylindrical correction.....I think!!!!
  17. Arrrr...but have you personally heard him say it and witnessed him standing naked on scales calibrated to national standards..... NO! I thought not.
  18. Only poor people.........mustn't lose sight of custom and practice
  19. To be fair I would say he was adding to it..... Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, is facing significant threats from rising sea levels, subsidence (the gradual sinking of the ground), and other environmental challenges. Experts have warned that parts of Bangkok could be at or below sea level as early as **2030** to **2050** if current trends continue. ### Key Factors Contributing to the Threat: 1. **Land Subsidence**: Bangkok is sinking by an estimated 1-2 centimeters per year, largely due to the over-extraction of groundwater. This subsidence is compounding the effects of rising sea levels. 2. **Rising Sea Levels**: Due to climate change, global sea levels are rising, which increases the risk of flooding in low-lying coastal cities like Bangkok. The combination of subsidence and sea-level rise puts Bangkok at significant risk. 3. **Flooding and Infrastructure**: Bangkok already experiences regular flooding during the monsoon season. Without significant infrastructure improvements and flood defenses, the situation could worsen dramatically in the coming decades.
