  1. That's against medical code of practise and against Thai law, it doesn't sound like it was very acute. Against medical law or not ,it happened. Not very acute ...they operated immediately and found I had a burst appendix, with GANGRENE and APENDIX CANCER showing up on biopsy. !! An emergency hemicolectomy was then performed to prevent spread of any cancer. After 3 weeks when I was fit enough to fly I returned to blighty on a business class flight(paid by insurance for chemo as I didn't want to work away from home and be treated in Thailand which although the treatment would have been the same ...would not have been funded by my insurance) Happily I fully recovered ☺
  2. I personally turned up at a Thai private hospital with acute appendicitis and they would not admit me at all until they had a deposit from my credit card!! All my subsequent treatment had to be claimed for cup front on my card as the Insurance Company were so slow!!! (I got it back later). I assume public hospitals are different?? So Mr Penson and all his mates seemingly couldn't dummy up this amount between them for him to pay back later??? But they can all afford a holiday in Phuket??? Draw your own conclusions!!
  3. A couple of years ago I took a PAL flight. Dozens of Filipino passengers were allowed to totally ignore the hand baggage rules and boarded with several heavy bags each..totally ignored by the gossiping and preening flight attendants. Result: the plane was found to be overweight and some hold luggage ..including all of my own was deplaned!!! On arrival in Surigao I was given the princely sum of 1000 pesos ( about 15GBP) as compensation to buy a few clothes till mine turned up..and I even had to fight for that!!! I support the airlines in checking passenger weights ...including their carry on luggage. At the moment those of us who keep to the rules are punished for the benefit of greedy passengers who won't pay for extra hold luggage and try and sneak it on the plane.
  4. Forget who hypothetically offed these two creeps. The problem then would be the succession in each country. We might end up with even worse lunatics in charge ...with their fingers on the big red button!!!
  5. Nah, Somchai the maintenance guy checked it out by switching it on and putting his hand in the water . No shock ...its good to go boss!!
  6. I remember In Pattaya in the 90s a thai guy about 50 with a crutch under one armpit would hobble around beer bars begging. Out of sight (or so he thought) he would carry the crutch in one hand and trot nimbly over to his motor scooter and ride on to his next target !!
  7. The Dutch drink a lot of milk, eat a lot of cheese, and are now the tallest people in the world !!!!!! https://www.theguardian.com/science/2021/sep/17/why-does-worlds-tallest-populace-dutch-seem-to-be-getting-shorter This article suggests that a dairy diet has helped the cloggies grow taller ..but the most recent generations by eating junk food have put this into reverse !!!
  8. Of course there may be a reason Thais are less likely to be scammed in this way. Nothing to do with the legal system or business acumen . More to do with the likelihood of o helmeted motorcyclist with a gun turning up on the scammers doorstep!!! Just a thought.
  9. The ladies shoulda been wearing full leathers too????????.. Sorry , I'll get my coat. The RTP are clearly using the Benny Hill traffic management plan.
  10. Three suspects "grilled "together? Surely its standard practice to keep them sperate so they don't know what the others have said. They are also more likely to incriminate each other. And YES, I did obtain my comprehensive knowledge of police interrogation procedures from watching multiple episodes of "The Sweeney" !! ????
  11. I think we know what mostly gets "transmitted" in Pattaya ...
  12. OMG, I knew Id forgotten something when I left Soi 6 !!!
  13. Confuscious.....my father took a ruler and hit me again on my hands."If the monk has hit you, he surely had reason for it and you should not complain." Ah memories... I went to a similar secondary school in England. In rhe 70s. My dad once asked me if the monks ( the Brothers) had ever hit me ( this was with the Tawse: a thick reinforced leather strap). When I said yes , he was at first outraged but after a couple of seconds said "well you must have deserved it"!! Fortunately I was not whacked again by my dad To be honest in those days most students preferred school discipline to having parents informed as the consequences would have been far far worse ....punishment not only for the misdeeds but for having brought shame on the family and being reminded of this at every opportunity by your folks!!!
  14. British friend of mine, a talented and qualified teacher in a Thai school sent a teen out of class for persistent disruption. I have observed this teachers lessons and he has no problems with discipline normally as the students are fully engaged but this kid was determined to be the centre of attention. Result teen complained to his parents as he has lost face with his peers!! As the brat's parents were quite wealthy the school wouldn't support the teacher but backed the kid and the teacher was forced to apologize in person. The end game is that all the class suffered from ruined lessons that they were paying quite a lot for. The teacher in question couldn't afford to resign and had to put up with this. Teachers are powerless if the school wont back them.
  15. Seems like a sensible idea in many ways. Unfortunately it will inevitably be used as a money making exercise by the RTP!!
  16. Did the rules of the game change after you married her? We never got to that stage although I did meet her family and remember her fondly 25 years later!!!
  17. It was explained to me by a delightful young lady ,(after I got a bit peeved about the daft stories) ,that it was her job as a bar girl to ask for as much as she could get away with and my job as a farang to try and get away with paying her as little as possible (while keeping her happy)!! We got on fine after the rules of the game were outlined !!
  18. Great , guess I can stop snorting bleach now????
  19. Isn't it about time Internet providers stopped this at source? I'm sure if they had, to the vast majority of these scam emails could be stopped. Governments internationally however are seemingly afraid to take on these large companies.
  20. I take it you are lining up to be euthanized at this moment in support of your views!!! ????????????
  21. Whatever the reason for this disaster, please spare a thought for the families and loved ones of the 31 missing sailors, who likely were at no fault themselves. Many families around the world who have lost loved ones st sea will know the hymn "For those in peril on the sea" Eternal Father, strong to save,Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,Who bid'st the mighty ocean deepIts own appointed limits keep;O hear us when we cry to Thee,For those in peril on the sea.
