  1. Exactly, you might say they cannot afford to live in Thailand. I have friends in England who were Billy big <deleted> when we were younger, earning loads & spending loads. Never saved to pension. They still work into their old age because the state pension isn't enough & they have no other income. Remember cash is king, its not, put it into pension & reduce your tax bill whilst saving for a guaranteed income for life. Cash reduces in value by half every 10 yrs.
  2. Here is what I did. In UK get a 60 day tourist visa, when applying online they email it to you within 3 days. Easy to do. Go get a 30 day extension to that at immigration making 3 months. I left and travelled 30 days in Indonesia (4 months). Back to Thailand visa exempt 30 days (5 months). Guess you could extend that another 30 days and leave Thailand for a shorter period. Up to you! But easily doable.
  3. Can I add a question to this topic please. If I leave Thailand on my retirement visa with multi entry, how long can I be absent from Thailand? Eg I have had visa since November. If I go to UK now can I stay there 4 months?
  4. You will get an email explaining exactly which day your money will arrive. No hmmmm about it. If they say on Wednesday you get Wednesday.
  5. Not necessarily, as it has a volatile nature and if you're brave enough you can trade from a low cost platform (not Revoult). The swings are often 5-10% & frequent. 4 reasonable trades in a month 20%. Personally I am rubbish at it so have opted out of crypto these days.
  6. Here is what I have done. I don't know if it is the best way or not however:- I have left the 800k in a UK bank earning 5% interest. The interest it will earn for one year is more than enough to pay for a visa agent to do everything including open a bank account and multiple entry.
  7. Pia main street is same as Greek St in Pia main street is same as Greek St in Leeds. A long row of bars selling weird coloured drinks to kids who don't know what a beer is. You could be anywhere.
  8. I'm 67 didn't like Pia one but. Be prepared for 200 dopey young backpackers walking down the street every day in just wet shorts having been on a mass river tubing and drinking trip! I could go on ...
  9. I always think these are FAKE NEWS stories put out by the police & tourist industry. Just my thoughts: - It's always a Ladyboy. Just to make the mass tourists & the mass tourist industry & associated stake holders attached to it feel there customers will be safe in Thailand. I always wonder if the Ladyboy is the innocent victim put up for show. Most report a stolen gold necklace. And because of this jittery stance from the Thai Police & tourist industry, the Indians probably know it is easy to get a "Theft Report" from the police to submit with their insurance claim & get paid out for a loss that never happened, but the Thai Police always seem to haul up a guilty ladyboy - really.
  10. In UK it is possible to leave 800k thb equivalent in a UK bank earning 5% for a year. The interest will cover the cost of using a visa agent. Much easier. Can you do same in US?
  11. Annuity rates in the UK at the moment (if you know what an annuity is) are 7% plus and guaranteed for life so buying one now is a good deal over investing in property rentals. Renting you have maintenance costs and rental voids. If you want to rent out property my advice is:- Buy in your home country where you understand the market and the law and rent out. Do not do it in any foreign country. If you can't afford to do that then you probably can't afford to retire
  12. Avoid the scam one where they say the Royal Palace only open to Thais today because Bank Holiday. Government give tuktuk tour at discount to compensate! Also unless you are 4ft 6ins you can't see from under the hood.
  13. Try Minky Winky on Facebook or LINE free delivery to Pattaya. She is a cheese maker and has a range of products.
  14. My observations are that Russians don't have a pub culture like the Brits so fortunately we don't come across them socially (they are often seen walking around swigging beer from a bottle rather than sitting in a bar). From what I see they are what we call "new money". Like bling, flash cash, show off a gold neck chain, wear $100 baseball caps, act like gangsters. Like to sit in blingy AgoGo bars & clubs. He is just a typical Russian but the gangster bit didn't work. My general opinion.
  15. Re-upload a copy of passport against the questions asking for non relevant information. That works for me
  16. Ooh! Big, too big for me, I cant do it any longer - too big. Friend lost condo key - have to go back now.
  17. Sir, I am getting the impression you actually know nothing about or delivering customer service. And to the gentleman complaining about warm coffee, boiling hot water can burn the coffee so thats why it is not boiling hot as I understand it.
  18. They have no concept of safe riding. Thais same. In UK one has to do a compulsory bike training course before you are then allowed to get on a small bike with L plates to gain experience. I would recommend anyone doing it before they go abroad and hop on a bike. You learn so much & probably save your life.
  19. Informative documentary on English Al Jazeera News channel on the terrible & appalling treatment of Thai berry pickers in Norway & Sweden. Try & find it well worth a watch. They have to work the cost of the expense getting there and work in foul weather. Live in squalid conditions and often earn little more than it costs them to get there. And these are supposedly 1st world Countries!
  20. Blowing my own trumpet here, before I came out I did the CBT in the UK first. (compulsory bike training you must do before going out with L plates). Most Farangs have done nothing you can see it in the way they ride. I can say it helps so much with regard to avoiding all the idiots on the road and knowing how to keep safe. I won't go on but it makes a huge difference to your awareness.
  21. Last week I was quoted 300 thb for the Pattaya bus Swampy gate 8 including hotel drop off. As I was going to my condo I chose to wait an hour for the next bus that went to Jomtien bus station 143thb (from memory). Rather than a tour of the Pattaya hotels for an hour, just the usual 2 stops on Sukhumvit Rd then Jomtien Bus Depot (mini mart).
  22. Does this sound feasible? If I come to Thailand 30 day exempt extend 30 (soon to be 45 I am guessing), then leave for 30 days for Indonesia. During the time in Thailand apply online using a VPN to London Royal Thai Embassy for a 60 day eVisa. Upload the 4 documents they require (have these on laptop before I come out) Send payment from UK bank account. Receive 60 day eVisa by email. Print and use when I come back from Indonesia.I'm thinking an eVisa has to be used within 3 month's so I cannot obtain before I leave the UK as I am away & using up 90 days. Point is can I apply to London for an eVisa from by base in Thailand & present it as I re-enter from Indonesia. All done online, can use VPN, they are not going to know I'm in Thailand, sounds ok to me. Any experience anyone why this might not work.
  23. Bang on. Why would you not wear a seat belt? And riding a bike or driving a car or just being a pedestrian, there is no way of telling if the car driver has seen you with blacked out windows. In UK you can acknowledge each other etc. So dangerous here.
