  1. Mr. JG, That large a sum in US dollars via Wise is the maximum amount they allow per transfer and they are very expensive at those sums. I believe a transfer at that rate would have been much larger fee by Wise than a basic Swift transfer from a US Bank. My case in point... I needed $100,000 for home purchase, Wise would require me to perform 4-5 transfers to make that sum. And the rates were very high. However a simple Swift transfer from Bank of America cost me $45 flat fee one time transfer at that amount. You must also make sure you don't allow BOA or any US bank to make the conversion, you will loose your arse. Let the Thai bank receive dollars sum and do the conversion, you will be much better off. Don't get me wrong, I use WISE regularly for my monthly transfers and they are great and rates low. But when transfers need to be a large sum, WISE is not a very good choice.
  2. It is a letter on Condominium letterhead that states I am the owner and reside there at the condominium, it is all I need when I renew my annual extension, and as I previously stated; I use it for IMM to produce the IMM residence document that I need for Driver's License renewal and to open bank accounts.
  3. For the SF30 my local IMM accepted the Blue Book, when I need proof of residence the Condo administrative personnel make me a residence letter which is what I use for my annual IMM extension and also when I need IMM residence letters for DL, bank accounts, etc.
  4. I was curious about this question, since the application is submitted online; does it get forwarded to your office of extension for approval? Or is done by any IMM officer at CM or whoever? To answer my Office is the Prachuap Khiri Khan #3 in Hua Hin.
  5. I submitted my TM47 online 1 August (AM) and received the confirmation of approval late evening (7PM) on the 2nd.
  6. My IMM officer while processing my extension in June automatically processed a new 90 day report document which extended me another 30 days for the 90 day. It should be evidenced in your passport (slip stapled in back) with your 90 day report date. I did not ask him to do it. What's interesting is that you did your last 90 day report online with your extension coming due during the period of the 90 days. When I tried that last they denied my 90 day and I had to go the IMM office to do my 90 day report, which they then gave me past my extension due date??? Didn't make sense to me.
  7. Wow, this very interesting to me as I'm thinking about selling my condo and purchasing another in a different location. In other countries I have purchased in, you only paid duty on sale above purchase price which I believe Thailand law is same. I.e. I purchase original condo for 4 mil, sell for 5 mil then pay tax of 45% on the 1 mil profit. I had assumed that I can then reinvest remaining funds into another unit, can someone explain where my thinking is off base?
  8. My first DL was done at the Pranburi DLT, what a busy place and so much hassles. On a whim I decided to try the Cha Am office and have happily been using them for many years now, car registration in a minute, DL in 20 minutes (I didn't even need to take the color or reaction tests this time). Just walked in with all the proper documents and copies and eLearning result.
  9. Wow, don't know how to help, just renewed mine last month in Cha-Am DLT. I got residence letter from my condo, took it to Prachuap Khiri Khan (Hua Hin) immigration, they did residence letter for me (500 baht) went to DLT Cha Am and out the door with renewed license in 20 minutes.
  10. You miss understood my comment, the yellow book is the hassle, once every 5 years getting residence certificate for DL renewal is no trouble at all.
  11. Understood, which makes the whole tedious process which is really difficult for a single guy, not worth it. The benefit of the yellow book for me would be to bypass stopping by the immigration office for a residence letter every five years to renew my drivers license or the occasion I decided to open a new bank account. As it is now I get a residence letter from my condo admin, take it to IMM (small outside office) pay 500 baht and get a residence certificate good for 30 days can be used for both DL renewal and opening accounts.
  12. You are partially correct but the Thai banking system did not put a stop to use of EFT's via the US ACH system, the US government put the stop to it! This was all from the H. Clinton anti terrorist measures during the Obama administration but didn't come about till Trump was in office. She was concerned that money was being funded out of the USA to terrorists abroad using this system causing much pain for us normal EXPATS abroad. As far as I was able to ascertain, only BBL had a registered ACH account for Thai banks in the USA (New York branch). The ACH via BBL is still allowed for those US EXPAT receiving payments via the Social Security System and the IRS will even use the same account for refund deposits so long as you have your SSA benefits deposited that way.
  13. Actually a Thai drivers license would suffice to send mail via Flash, I do it all the time. The real benefit of the pink card for falang is you get into national parks at the same price as Thai.
  14. Don't use the card, use the ACH routing number (bank) and account number that the card debits from and it'll go right through.
  15. Follow Dr Jack's advice, go to immigration, show your departure ticket and get the 7 day extension. At the IMM KIOSK in Hua Hin Bluport mall I saw a guy get the 7 day extension for free...... Even if you get charged 1900 baht for extension it is still cheaper then all the other ways and less trouble.
  16. I received my new passport back in September 2022 in just three weeks time
  17. I'd like to recommend a very inexpensive service "Getflix" Aussie based and works well here in Thailand. What's special about their service is how you can tailor their DNS and VPN services. DNS is great as many devices and smart TV's don't support VPN, I use their DNS service with my Apple TV, using the closest DNS server which is in Malaysia. Bandwidth is unaffected (no slowdown) on streaming. What is special about this service is you can select what countries you want to unlock for whichever services. I.e. they give you the ability to steam UK, USA Brazil or many different Netflix services. I just used a few of the countries available, Swiss services are also available. Also what is cool you can turn a stream redirect off from their APP if you would like to use the local stream. I find this great here in Thailand as Thai Netflix often has the new series before the Netflix of my home country. Same as many others have mentioned about radio, my home station I cannot listen to unless I use the VPN for my city and then their APP works perfectly listening to baseball and talk radio. So try their free trial period and see if it works for your needs.
  18. I'm not sure what you mean by the 10 key model, but here is the advertisement from the seller I purchased from. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/i3071735475-s11270146580.html?urlFlag=true&mp=1&tradePath=omItm&tradeOrderId=604605239993922&tradeOrderLineId=604605240093922&spm=spm%3Da2o4m.order_details.item_title.1
  19. I bought mine here in Thailand off Lazada, it is the english only keys version! I don't think this model is available with Thai on the keys.
  20. I have the MX Keys Mini for my Mac and I love it. Backlighting is great, battery life great, Keys are quiet and comfortable (large enough). I use it on my MacOS via Bluetooth with no issues whatsoever, what issues do you have that you state will only work with the unifying USB dongle? I use mine with a MacMini 2018 model. It's the best keyboard I have used in many years.
  21. In the case of Lazada reviews I always use Google Translate, copy the review then paste into Translate.... works really well.
  22. My issue when I was using a well in Korea was either the pump needed to be primed (usual issue, which means pouring water into the orifice while running), or issues with the grey colored solenoids (#48 in the diagrahm) which are easily replaced, they just screw on and off. I would suggest a prime as the pump hadn't been used in a while. Also the contacts in the solenoid will carbon up from lack of use.
  23. I also am in the market for a new pickup, still haven't decided if I will get a 4 door or the extended cab version. I'm leaning to the 4 door models but would like the extra bed length of the extended cab. My GF has a good friend whom sells for Mazda, she offered us a good finance option that I almost pulled the trigger on last December, however she called the GF recently to tell her that Mazda Thailand is leaving the pickup sales business as they don't sell enough of them and that there is too much competition. I spoke with a mate whom has owned both recent Isuzu and Mitsubishi models. He stated to me that the Isuzu with the 1.9L engine was total crap and that the Mitsubishi with the 2.4L engine is the sweet spot (especially if you are going AT). Correct me if I'm wrong, but many of the Isuzu dealers charge extra for bumpers and steps, those were included as well as a bed liner in my Mitsubishi quote. However the Mits is not cheap 4 door AT with most the whistles 920,000 baht. A similar Isuzu with the 1.9L would run around 750,000 baht.
  24. Happened to me as well last week, it is I believe on account of the browser being refreshed, loss of cookies. Only took me 3 minutes to establish my identity. I believe my situation was caused by a security update to the Safari browser on my MacOS computer. If I would have placed the transfer via the APP on my phone probably wouldn't have been an issue.
