  1. It's like a sad version of Lord of the Flies, where the protagonists are running a country with sub-80 IQs. Imagine being bold enough to do what this guy did, and yet be so stupid to not even know his own office had cameras in it. If it weren't so tragic, it would be hilarious. And no question this guy will walk...or fall down a flight a stairs 10 times...or 'escape'.
  2. Analysis by anecdote. Almost every single thing you mentioned has now been shown to be false and/or ineffective. FYI, even a cursory review of the history of viral outbreaks would lead even a semi-literate person to understand that there are actually a few things that a government can't do. Eradicating an endemic, highly-contagious respiratory virus isn't one of the capabilities that any government has. Even with a very effective and safe vaccine (like with Covid), it took a worldwide campaign many decades to eradicate smallpox. Another fun virus history fact....do you know who the last person to die of smallpox was? A laboratory worker who caught it from a lab accident....oh wait...those don't happen.
  3. https://www.cdc.gov/csels/dls/locs/2021/07-21-2021-lab-alert-Changes_CDC_RT-PCR_SARS-CoV-2_Testing_1.html The man-babies are always a day late and a dollar short. Apparently being semi-literate and without internet access ISN'T a downside for running a country of serfs.
  4. The mentality of the Covid people is funny to watch, especially from a distance. So, for the halfwit religious extremists that run Thailand, a bar with people in it, drinking alcohol, after sundown, is a Covid hate crime. Tens of thousands of people toiling each day in crowded factories during daylight hours....no problem....????
  5. From the perspective of the out of touch, religious extremists who run Thailand, the fact that 80% of the airline slots have been returned in a good thing. More room for all the billionaires' private jets.
  6. There's a third choice....deal with the authoritarians and their apologist parrots.
  7. Unfortunately I have to return to Thailand soon for family and business reasons. After recovering from Covid and being vaccinated, if the Thai tyrants try to force me into quarantine from a contact or asymptomatic test, I won't pay them a dime....ever. The days of Thai conmen taking money from me ended during the pandemic.
  8. Here's an idea...if YOU don't want to go to a bar during a 'semi religious thing', then don't. If YOU don't want to drink alcohol, then don't. I've never read a single post on this forum where someone is insisting that others have to drink anything, but the forum is full of the would-be authoritarians and Covid parrots insisting on what other people have to do to assuage their own fears or sense of morality. Here's a simple solution for you; stop thinking people are looking for you to tell them what to do, or solve their problems.
  9. Be sure to read Prof Thanavath's upcoming book, "How to run a Potemkin Village economy for kleptomaniacs" Super popular with the downtrodden serfs!
  10. Better make a call to Siam Bioscience, big guy. It's not a pandemic unless the right people are getting their cut. ????
  11. The Prison Warden of New Zealand hands over the chairmanship of a pointless international organization to an unelected tyrant and religious extremist....who cares. It only took a Thai company little more than a year to destroy Dean and Deluca's....wonder if they repeat that accomplishment with ASEAN? Rhetorical question because in the case of ASEAN, no one would care.
  12. The halfwits running Thailand and their soft-headed parrots actually believe the nonsense they spew forth. They actually believe that Covid is somehow spread at night, through alcohol, but NOT during the day in crowded factories. That's why one is open and the other closed. And let's not forget the scary chlorinated pools, or the surface of every object in Thailand. ????
  13. The apologists will be along shortly to tell you how much more freedom there is in Thailand.
  14. Thailand couldn't solve the word jumble in a tabloid newspaper.
  15. The same old pointless arguments about which is better, an apple or an orange. It's always down to personal choice, at the end of the day. I can't imagine how so many Western men are happy living in a small dump, scurrying around trying to meet an ever-changing list of demands from a corrupt and inefficient immigration service, and a constant barrage of new restrictions. But, I understand that home is where the hat is and happy is happy. That said, comparing Thailand to the UK is a race to the bottom though. If that's your only two choices....I can see why Thailand looks so good.
  16. Any potential visitors should pay close attention to what this unelected despot is saying and read between the lines. First, he continues to believe that public health policies will somehow rid Thailand of Covid. Second, he intends to blame any failures of those policies on those who break these ineffective rules. Third, he implies that a change in infection rates (which will occur, as they have occurred in every other country outside of 'Paradise' after a reopening) will result in a reevaluation...or another closing. So, not if there's going to be another shutdown/lockdown...just who will we blame it on? Anyone who believes the junta's propaganda that the latest outbreak was caused by a few rich guys at Krystal club are the same parrots who will believe their next lies. If you want to know what an unbalanced, out of touch dictator is going to do...whether in Iran, North Korea or Thailand, just listen to what they say. Most of the times, they will more or less just say it.
  17. Debating Covid and the pandemic with the Covid people is like arguing with a Christian evangelical about whether or not Jesus answers your prayers....pointless. Theirs is a faith and a liturgy to be followed at any and all costs, regardless of the actual outcomes.
  18. Your judgment of others and virtue signaling is shameful.
  19. Another forum member provided this link earlier on another thread about this topic. A very informative 5 minutes and shows a distinct lack of innocence for all involved. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/other/former-us-marine-arrested-in-thailand-over-dollar29m-kidnap-ransom-plot/vi-BB1gS5xb
  20. A Thai Police investigation...completely laughable. Wonder if they're 'investigating' the Thai cop who was in the hotel lobby while the Americans tried to kidnap the corrupt owner of the business? Standby for Paddy The Room's successful defamation case against all involved.
  21. The legal system in Thailand is a Potemkin Village. It is merely a tool for the wealthy to bludgeon the less wealthy and has no actual role in the lives of the common people. For example, try enforcing a signed contract with a wealthy Thai person or company....almost an impossible feat. The Thai people deserve better, but they have no actual rights in any form to demand a better life and future for their children. They're merely serfs toiling for the benefit of their detached patricians.
  22. Thailand isn't really reopening, so it doesn't really matter. Guess the malevolent, kleptocratic, religious extremists running Paradise will need to 'mull' another 'scheme' to 'lure' a different ethnic group to be fleeced. The next victims will just need to know that they can't bring in any tangible property, buy any tangible property, have more than $700 worth of goods in all of their bags, get tested twice for Covid, pay for one, two...whatever...nights in quarantine so you don't have to quarantine, don't drink alcohol, don't sing, don't dance, don't get a massage, don't stay out after dark and spend 100,000 baht visiting temples.
  23. Imagine running a half-rate kleptocracy with one of the world's worst education systems and then deciding to basically shut it down....what could go wrong with that?
