  1. Has anyone had success getting the DTV based on having medical appointment? I’ve been putting off a personal medical checkup / procedure(s) for a number of years now and perhaps this DTV is a sign I should procrastinate no more. I contacted my embassy and they said only official letters of invitation would be accepted (I.e. appointment slips not accepted). After emailing a number of well known hospital brands, only a few would do this. My only concern is that for this first appointment will be a consultation / checkup and then any procedures thereafter would be decided upon by the doctor - is this initial letter enough for DTV? Remains to be seen. I note Tod (Daniels) had mentioned somewhere else that some embassies needed a treatment plan. If you read this Tod, could you advise what embassies are doing this? Many Thanks
  2. Hi mate, I’m pretty much in same situation as you. Could you or someone reading this explain what the “DTV” is? Many thanks
  3. Yes, and then I had to chat to their supervisor for 5 mins….there was a massive queue waiting in line that weren’t too happy…. To be fair they were kind and courteous with it all….I didn’t want to argue about it only having used 2 x exempts and not overstaying. chances are I could come back on another 30 day exempt and argue my case with someone else and it might be ok….but that’s a chance not willing to take
  4. Hi mate. No it was Suvarnabhumi. I didn’t realise there were so many people refused entry at the airports daily (see Todd’s post a few days ago in this section about being refused entry and what to do). To be honest I think it’s just luck of the draw most of the time…unfortunately my luck ran out and was made a note of for next visit 😅
  5. Hi Richard thanks for reply. Yes, I think perhaps one option is to get Single Entry O and then get a re-entry permit and then try and change it to a multi O at immigration, with Child present. I vaguely remember doing something like this years ago but such was the hassle at the time I reverted to getting a multi O at Penang when they done them and then back to the 30-days exempt after they stopped doing them. Looks like I’ve come full circle again. Will try for the multi entry TV next time though. I asked the officer would this be ok next time and they said yes….
  6. Exactly mate. I was a bit surprised by it all. Never overstayed a day in my life. Always rotational, maximum 33 days at a time with 40 days in between ….who knows maybe I was just unlucky and it was my time.
  7. You could be right Caldera. Perhaps it’s best to keep 2 x Land borders in back pocket for a rainy day incase of worst case scenario.
  8. Thanks Jack. Yes 2 x land borders so will try and do 1 x METV and 2 x 30 day exempt a year with land border visits
  9. Yeah I see what you are getting and I could do this but realistically all I need is literally a few days on top of the 30 days exempt. I would guess something would still have been said as I didn’t enter on a proper visa and would still have extended the 30 days regardless if it was tourism or for child but who knows…thanks for reply
  10. 100% bobonzo. I guess on reflection after a nights sleep the 2 x extensions on the 30 day exempt this year was the reason. If I hadn’t have done these and left within the 30 days then most probably nothing would have been said. Hoping no problem with getting the METV before next trip. That should hopefully see out this remainder calendar year. Perhaps next time I need to extend the 30 days exempt I might do border run instead.
  11. For the first time in over 15 years I have been stopped at immigration desk for entry issue. Back in the good old days I used to get the ME O for having Thai child but now due to my work rotationally outside Thailand and also having to be present in home country to get E-visas which isn’t always viable, the 30-day exempt was usually what I would enter in maximum 4-5 times a year on every 40 days or so for maximum stay of 32-33 days (extension if needed). Only been present in Thailand this year 65 days since January. Today was the 66th. The officer was friendly and understood I had a daughter here and visit her but insisted I get a visa next time and made notes on the computer about this. Due to my flights leaving for work, I have stayed last 2 times for 33 days (getting extension for both these - never ever overstayed even by 1 day - ever). This isn’t a rant, but I’m just a bit surprised that given the obvious large time between visits (>40 days each time) I was told to get a visa though I suspect the last 2 extensions this year stamped in passport maybe drew their attention. Getting a Multi Non O isn’t an option (single O then extending this at immigration to multi) as I’m never here long enough. Will try and get a multi tourist and hope this is allowed and hope this lasts to the end of the year for validity and the 30-day exempt resets next year. All the above for information purposes to those in similar situation….
  12. Hi everyone. I’ve been looking around for somewhere (preferably in Pattaya) to get a few large facial moles removed. After consulting a few clinics that mainly provide the Laser option it seems I’ll have to go under the knife to get these removed. I’ve looked through a few older posts on here with guys going to BPH. Has anyone recently been to anywhere else in Pattaya (or Bangkok) and recommend a doctor that can surgically remove facial moles (prices would also be appreciated). Many Thanks.
  13. Hi. I appreciate that there are numerous posts on this topic and apologies for opening this one but I’m not 100% sure what the rule is for the TM30 in Pattaya for those who enter on 30 day exempt stamp. Does your TM30 that you show at the immigration office to extend (15 days) need to be from the date you enter Thailand (new rule I read somewhere?) or is it OK to use a recent TM30 from a hotel short stay for a day or two? Many Thanks
  14. My daughters Uk passport expires in October. I was planning to take her to Uk this summer for holidays at end of June until August. Has anyone flown to UK on Uk passport with less than 6 months validity? She has a Thai passport as well (recently renewed) so would return to Thailand on this passport and obviously into Uk on her British passport. Uk gov website advises that passports must only be valid for duration of stay though I’d be a bit concerned how the individual airlines will see it. With this impending strike action, Im unsure to apply for passport renewal or do the holiday on her current passport. Thanks ????????
  15. It looks like the passport office will be going on strike for 5 weeks soon. Does anyway have experience in flying to UK with less than 6 months validity on UK passport? My daughters UK passport expires in October (her Thai passport has just been renewed) and am planning to take her back to Uk for summer holidays end June / start July. It says on Gov website, passports only need to be valid for duration of stay but I guess it might be how the airlines see it. I know for Thailand you need a passport with >6 months valid so her Thai passport will cover this. Thanks.
