  1. What gets a reprieve from Trump’s tariffs? Understanding the USMCA And in the case of goods that cross the border multiple times, such as auto parts, drawbacks are available, meaning the tariff rate is effectively zero. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-what-gets-a-reprieve-from-trumps-tariffs-understanding-the-usmca/
  2. My misteak. I assumed you responding to my post meant you had, you know, read my post, and were, like, responding to my post.
  3. WASHINGTON (AP) — A top White House official has pledged that the CIA will no longer use vaccination programs as cover for spying operations. The agency used the ruse in targeting Osama bin Laden before the U.S. raid that killed him in 2011. Lisa Monaco, President Barack Obama’s top counterterrorism adviser, wrote to the deans of 13 prominent public health schools last week, saying that the CIA has agreed it would no longer use vaccination programs or workers for intelligence purposes. The agency also agreed to not use genetic materials obtained through such programs. https://www.apnews.com/article/44b83d52c6e64230afce0e9c544c32bd
  4. You didn't read it. No mention of measles in my post. Was about 3-letter agencies using vaccine programs as cover for spy operations, leading to mistrust by locals. Replied to presnock about "because of some tribal folks in the Middle East/Asia desert type refusing to get ANY vaccines." If you had read my cited text, you'd see that "the CIA will no longer use vaccination programs as cover for spying operations.
  5. Some peoples no longer trust the science. WASHINGTON (AP) — A top White House official has pledged that the CIA will no longer use vaccination programs as cover for spying operations. 6. His son moved to Thailand in 2017, works in "finance." His father moved to Pattaya last May, along with his wife, to live with the son. Recently diagnosed with Diabetes and Addisons. Son quit his job to act as caregiver.
  7. Yes, it's a gofundme. The link is included in other articles online.
  8. Those percentages were manufactured goods. Conveniently left out the services part where the US enjoys a surplus.
  9. His son Jonathan, who has given up his job in finance to take care of Mr Leo, is desperate to bring him back to the UK for treatment but faces financial and bureaucratic hurdles. https://www.dorsetecho.co.uk/news/national/25063063.son-desperate-bring-critically-ill-father-home-thailand-help-save/
  10. More info available through other sources. Reginald Leo, 76, moved to Pattaya, a city south of Bangkok, with his wife Valerie last May to join their son Jonathan, 33, who had been living in the country since 2017. https://www.dorsetecho.co.uk/news/national/25063063.son-desperate-bring-critically-ill-father-home-thailand-help-save/
  11. But only the trade in manufactured goods. He conveniently leaves out the services component of trade in which the US has surpluses with many of these same nations.
  12. Why bother with seismographs when they already have sensors on hand that will be just as effective? Over 1300 GT200's were purchased, enough to outfit every high rise in Bangkok. Now they just need to find 1300 highly educated and proficient nephews and cousins to pay a 50,000 100,000 baht/month salary to operate them. Thailand purchased 1,310 of the devices at a cost of Bt1.08 billion, with orders filled for the Royal Thai Army’s Ordnance Department, the Finance Ministry, Royal Thai Police, the Central Institute of Forensic Science, Office of the Narcotic Control Board, the Interior Ministry’s Administration Department, and the Armed Forces Security Centre. The price for each device varied wildly between Bt500,000 and Bt1 million, according to which agency was doing the buying.
  13. According to World Bank export data, the U.S. imported $1.4 million (A$2.23 million) worth of goods from Heard Island and McDonald Islands in 2022, with the vast majority classified as "machinery and electrical" products. 14. The ancient Chinese earthquake detector, known as a seismoscope, was invented by Zhang Heng in 132 AD. It was a bronze device featuring eight dragon heads that indicated the direction of an earthquake by dropping a ball into the mouth of a corresponding toad below. 36 copies currently available on ebay, starting at only 10,000 baht, with free shipping from China. Buy two, get eggroll! https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=seismograph+chinese&_sop=12
  15. The White House on Thursday defended its decision to not include Russia, North Korea, Cuba or Belarus in the latest round of tariffs, which targeted dozens of global trading partners that were labeled the “worst offenders” when it came to trade barriers. A White House official told The Hill in a statement that the four nations “are not subject to the Reciprocal Tariff Executive Order because they are already facing extremely high tariffs, and our previously imposed sanctions preclude any meaningful trade with these countries.” https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5229844-white-house-donald-trump-tariffs-russia-north-korea/
  16. Innocent? He was a gangbangster but his lawyer convinced a judge that he'd be in danger if sent back to da hood.
  17. You mean the ones that are picked up for overstaying their visas? Illegals. Let 'em squeal.
  18. According to U.S. government data, the U.S. has recorded trade deficits with Norfolk Island for the past three years. The island exported $300,000 worth of goods to the U.S. in 2022, $700,000 in 2023 and $200,000 in 2024. Its imports from the U.S. stayed at $100,000 in those years. https://www.thehindu.com/news/international/trumps-tariffs-target-tiny-australian-islands-including-some-with-no-people/article69407600.ece And what about those uninhabited islands? According to World Bank export data, the U.S. imported $1.4 million (A$2.23 million) worth of goods from Heard Island and McDonald Islands in 2022, with the vast majority classified as "machinery and electrical" products. The specific nature of these imports remains unclear. https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/international/global-trends/us-news-trump-tariff-norfolk-island-we-are-scratching-our-heads-trump-imposes-29-tariff-on-tiny-remote-australian-island-with-barely-any-exports/articleshow/119941985.cms
  19. To be perfectly, bigly honest, I think Trump is making a major mistake here. I think it's yuuugely insane, and will implode like a bankrupt casino. But I also think you'd get more traction if you post real information instead of skewed MSM talking points. Trump didn't increase tariffs on Russia! Oh, no! Probably because he's a puppet of Putin, nothing to do with already massively applied sanctions and tariffs, right?
  20. The territory gets the same 10% tariff as Australia. Operates under the laws of Australia. WHite house calculated the non-tariff trade barriers into the magic 8-ball, and it said 10% for Australia, so of course the territories and dependencies will get the same rate. That's the same tariff applied to Cocos Islands, pop 600.
  21. Heard and McDonald Islands: 10% (charges U.S. 10%) https://www.forbes.com/sites/mollybohannon/2025/04/02/heres-the-full-list-of-trumps-reciprocal-tariffs-announced-wednesday/ Wouldn't want some large country using one of their teeny, tiny territories to avoid tariffs.
  22. Why would you consider that a senile moment? During his speech, Trump claimed that South Korea, Japan and "many other nations" were charging the U.S. more for goods. "As a result of these colossal trade barriers, 81% of the cars in South Korea are made in South Korea," touted Trump. "94% of the cars in Japan are made in Japan." Trump's claim is that barriers to entry are set such that it becomes nearly impossible to sell US cars in Japan, thus 94% of the cars on the road in Japan were produced in Japan. Can you, Oh maganificent Carnac, dispute this?
