US Charles Schwab Residency?
NoDisplayName replied to BKKKevin's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I must have asked that somewhere along the line, but I don't recall at the moment..... Fidelity does have beneficiaries, and the DIY Thai will should be acceptable, but additional work is required. If a US-based lawyer isn't handling probate, then the wife must do a final tax return and apply for a tax clearance certificate, which can take up to a year for the IRS to produce. As for Schwab, my account is mainly to pass gifts through to the wife, so shouldn't have much in the way of assets. My notes will have PW and ID, so she could simply use the standing order to transfer any cash to her account. She can either send a SWIFT from her account or we link to a Wise account for her. I haven't considered I might outlast, but I suppose I must prepare for that eventuality, as well. -
Did I say that? No, they have equal rights. Such as the right to find a venue NOT supported by "traditional" people. I'm sure there's a bigly wide audience for that garbage. Why, there must be dozens of people clamoring for drag queen operas and wokimaginings of classic fairy tales. Literally dozens!

That is your right, as is your right to store text messages on your device saying as much. However, if you are pulled aside for a random interview at the border, and those texts include what might be considered "terroristic threats", then you shouldn't be surprised that the agency might open an investigation. Yes, you might explain you really didn't mean to call for violence against the president, and the investigation will be closed. But you shouldn't be surprised that you won't be allowed in either. Comedian Kathy Griffin said she faced a two-month federal investigation after she posted a controversial photo with the fake severed head of President Trump and was almost charged with conspiracy to assassinate the president of the United States. “A lot of people don’t know this part,” Griffin explained. “Actually two federal agencies, the Secret Service and the assistant U.S. attorney’s office, were putting me under a two-month federal investigation and considering charging me with a crime — this is real — of conspiracy to assassinate the president of the United States.” https://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-know/in-the-know/420406-kathy-griffin-says-she-faced-potential-conspiracy-to/

US Charles Schwab Residency?

International accounts, using our Thai address and our Thai cellphone numbers. I requested and received debit card and checks on my account. An additional restriction on the international accounts is no beneficiaries. I've set up push/pull link to my Fidelity account, my credit union and Wise. Also have a standing order with Schwab to transfer cash (no shares) one way to the wife's account. All of this can now be done online without calling a rep. -
Oh what a treasure! Kinky Boots is a musical that features music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper and a book by Harvey Fierstein. It tells the story of Charlie Price, who teams up with drag queen Lola to save his family's struggling shoe factory by producing a line of high-heeled boots, The sissy duckling? hey asked him to make a Jewish version of a classic Western fairy-tale, but Fierstein thought that a fairy-tale modified to center a gay character was more needed at the time,[3] choosing Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling to modify and recreate. Glad I ain't payin' for that carp no more.

Funny how they put "banned" in scare quotes as though it meant something different...... But he's free to perform his filthy QWERTY% filth as he likes. He's free to find another venue. He's free to rent a stage somewhere. He's free to pay for it himself. Funny again how free speech is only "free" for him, not for the taxpayers that are forced to pay for it.

One must assume he has similar opinions as those expressed on this very forum. had exchanges that “reflect hatred toward Trump and can be described as terrorism." He was reportedly also informed of an FBI investigation, but the charges were dropped before he was expelled. He likely (my opinion based on reality) got into a charged discussion with a like-minded colleague about US policy changes, and the recent ear-shaving event was mentioned. I suspect me wrote something like "too bad he didn't aim 3 centimeters to the right" or "with any luck, they'll keep trying." Shirley, the mad scientist will publish his comments openly for all to see how innocent his (alleged) calls for violence were.

US Charles Schwab Residency?

I also have Fidelity. About ten years ago, my debit card withdrawals and/or transfers to Thailand alerted them I was out of the US. They wanted a US utility bill to prove residence. Since then I am not allowed to purchase US-registered mutual funds. I could keep any already in the account, but could not add to holdings. When 2FA went into effect, there were some difficulties, but I've had Fidelity add my Thai cellphone number to the account and now can receive OTP codes. I've also removed "enhanced" security so that OTP is not required at each login. Last month opened Schwab accounts for myself and the wife, using our Thai addresses. Same limitation - no purchase of US-registered mutual funds. As for Schwab, the $25K opening balance and minimum balance requirements have been cancelled. Schwab accepts foreign cell numbers for OTP codes. -
A Visit to the Tax Office

Received my 2024 refund in the mail and deposited that into my KrungThai account. While at the bank, attempted to fill out CRS forms as I had received an SMS saying account must be updated. The teller didn't know what to do, the manager on duty knew not as well. I was told to come back the next day. I did not. Today, a couple weeks later, received another SMS telling me that my account was in order and to disregard the original text message. I no longer fear BMW's. -

As far as I am aware, the entire system is based on self-determination. The taxpayer decides which pot of money is the source of remittances. If you have a large pot of savings and/or inheritance to draw from, then that's what you may choose to claim as the source. I'm not an expert, so... **OPINION ONLY, NOT ADVICE**
