    Rubbish

Then you must live in another planet, lol.

Mechanically you may often get away with it. But the paint job in most second hand cars in Thailand of certain age is mashed up together with the interior.

Not so sure about that, I drove 4/6/8 pot Mercs many years back, they were amazingly quiet and comfortable rides. My last car in the UK was a 2001 E-class, loved it...

    2001 E-Class that’s a W210 if I’m not wrong.

Already a very different car to the late 80s W124 the other fella bought.

The W210 will be riddled with electronic comfort features. Indeed, even nowadays it’s a great car.

W124 was amazing back in its day, but it’s just too old nowadays to compete!

300CE. I had no difficulties driving it, apart from when it decided to break down on me, usually in the most inconvenient of circumstances.

Man, honestly, you bought a Mercedes from the 1980s secondhand and in Thailand where secondhand cars are known to be generally very badly taken care of and in poor shape!!!

Did you really expect it to run without any issues at all?

Isn't that a smaller jobby, what difficulties did you have driving it...?

That’s looks more like an E-Class  to me (W124).

But regardless. If you compare an early 90s (probably late 80s actually) Mercedes with a 2021 Mazda 2. Then probably the Mazda will be better!!

It’s like comparing an iPhone 3 with a brand new cheapish Samsung.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I haven't heard of an airline that charges ten times the airfare for a business class seat vs an economy seat.

Sometimes more than 10 times, my good friend.

And let’s not even talk safety wise. I’m sure a 900kg Mazda 2 would do just fine against a 2 tons Ford F-150 or 2.5 tons Merc S-Class. Your life apparently is worth very little money to you!

Here is a question for the Mercedes mavens:

Let's say you have bought one of the top line Mercs, S class or whatever. It costs you 6 million baht.

Now take a Mazda 2, which IMO is a brilliant small car. Responsive, agile, dead easy to park in a city. 600,000 baht.  So the Mercedes is ten times the price.

Is the Mercedes really ten times better?

    You can’t be serious!

They’re different concepts of cars. Hence why the Mazda is thought for cheap Charlies to get around quickly and easily, and the S-Class belongs to the luxury/executive sector of cars.

It’s like flying economy vs flying business.

They are worth nowhere near that my little friend; the company maybe (mainly Austrian; read: not Australian in case you were wondering) but not this pinhead quirk. But immaterial in any case; rich wouldn’t matter, if the cause was there he’d be swallowing his soap as we speak.
Anyway, think yourself lucky. After years of listening to such tat that you are lucky you get any sort of acknowledgment.

So now I’m supposed to believe some random fella in TVF over Forbes… You guys have no limit really ????

Jeffrey Epstein with far less money and power molded Justice for far longer and it worked great for him (until it didn’t, but that’s another matter).

The Interpol Red Notice is there and it’s public, one can only wonder why Mr. Yoovidhya hasn’t been arrested, while staying in the West… How easy it is to bash Thailand, but let’s not forget he is in the west.

    2. the exchange rate from the Thai bank is much much worse than the Wise exchange rate

Bs, you should only send THB through Wise for small amounts. I'd say 50,000 THB or so.

Else send USD via SWIFT (no matter Wise or not).

Let's see, on November 2nd 2020 I sent 10,000 USD from my Transferwise to my BKK (first transaction I managed to spot on my bank book).

I paid 10,004.26 USD in Transferwise (including $4.26 SWIFT fee). According to the official exchange rate back then, 10,000 USD = 311,096.81 THB (0.32144)

And I got instead 309,880.22 THB. Which means the exchange rate (+ fees) the Thai bank applied was 1,216.22 THB lower than the official exchange rate.

Using Transferwise's THB didn't let me send 10,000 USD one time, I had to do 2x 5,000 USD. And each of the transactions had a 30 something USD fee. I would have paid almost double in fees!

I ‘got over it’ and bought a 7 year old 911 - and it was one of my better decisions!  I smile from ear to ear every time I start it - and driving …. the handling and responsiveness is sublime.  I chose to do get something I would enjoy. I do not need or want to impress anyone else.

So - judging people by their choice of car is unnecessary and all too often a sign of jealousy…

How are you able to drive this car here? According to the many experts, it's impossible to find replacements for such cars here in Thailand ????????????

Not to mention that you're out there driving your 911 showing off your wealth, how dare you do that! ????

The vast majority of Thais who have a benz most certainly do NOT earn 3-4M a month. If they did, they wouldn't be living in my village lol. My wife certainly earns enough to pay off a European car (with no help from me) but chooses to drive a small Japanese ecocar.

I highly doubt the vast majority of Thais who own a Mercedes live in your village.

This really has turned into a dick swinging competition, and is little or nothing to do with relative pros or cons of either car.

Put em back in yr undies fellas.

Indeed, some people get so jealous when you defend Mercedes, that they need to start boasting about their golf, pmsl.

Worth mentioning also that the majority of Mercedes models are pretty affordable and hardly more expensive than the Toyotas they love so much. Yet one still has to put up with them calling you "forum millionaire", lmao. People here think Mercedes = showing off. Jealousy at it's best.

despite never paying one penny of tax in their entire life, and in some cases not even being British.

I highly doubt this is true.

They will provide emergency care without any questions being asked even if you’re not British. BUT afterwards they will either bill it to your country (within the EU) or bill it to yourself, if you haven’t paid tax in the UK.

Fair enough, it’s “free” and the quality of the medical care you get is great, except a few quirks.

But I believe it costs too much for what you actually get. It’s just a very expensive insurance offering very little in terms of comfort and “being close the patient”.
