  1. A logical conclusion that is probably scientifically correct. When there' a national holiday here, you get the "7 days of death" on the highways and nobody is surprised. You have a one-month Pride party here, then nobody should be surprised, let alone horrified. I just hope that nobody latches on to the "dirty foreigner" aspect that your observation could suggest to the xenophobe.
  2. The BB app went tits up on Saturday evening so I went online with the laptop and used their Bua Luang program instead. No big deal.
  3. You forgot the "mai-mee wifi", get the store wi-fi from the cashier, get the password, type it wrong... twice... low-battery... shut-down... trek to ATM for cash...
  4. That yachting on Nong Han Lake isn't going to be a practical or sustainable tourist attraction?
  5. Since it can still bit of a medical mystery and a facet of life "hidden in plain sight" when undiagnosed in western cultures, It's not too much of a stretch to consider that's it's just as prevalent in Thailand where mental healthcare is poor to non-existent. You have a point with drugs though. My former fiancee may have tried or been provided unknowingly with some designer drugs that were prevalent where we lived and worked back in the early 1990's. It was like one summer a switch had been flicked and her manageable manic moments became more interspersed with intense bouts of unmanageable paranoid schizophrenia. Her maternal grandmother was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and eventually ended up in an insane asylum so her mum, although saddened and hurt, wasn't overly surprised. Back on topic: The op does need to enlist both legal and mental health professionals before his situation goes too badly wrong.
  6. Bipolar would be my bet. Maybe a bit of schizophrenia in the mix? My former fiancee was blessed with both in spades. Luckily, her parents stepped up and despite her being an adult and living away from home, they came and took her home and into the care and support she desperately needed but I couldn't provide.
  7. Gotcha, thanks.
  8. OK, thanks for the clarification. I just checked my location for NT service using their online thingmabob (from the link https://wcsoss.totwbs.com/promotion provided earlier) and it says "Sorry, the area you selected is not available yet. The available area is 0.71 km from you." That broadly correlates with the map of coverage for NT Mobile coverage on https://www.nperf.com/en/map/TH/-/3379.TOT-Mobile/signal/?ll=17.405315277086004&lg=102.82005786895753&zoom=15 That ~700 meters suggests that if I'm not in black hole, the signal strength maybe isn't up to supporting Thunder's full capability in a fixed location, no?
  9. I just can't see what all the fuss is about if I want a larger amount than a ATM will give I go in the bank with passport and bank book. I haven't had time to visit the holding branch of my Bangkok Bank account, some 630 km distant so when it came to transferring a larger amount than 50k last week, I used their Bua Luang online (computer/laptop) method.
  10. Out of date. Speed 3 is no longer. Last updated: May 26th, 2023
  11. I have an O2 (UK) branded 3G dongle that I last used a few years ago with a prepaid AIS SIM. I used it mainly as a wifi hotspot in the truck and would like to do that again. What's the recommended and most economical data SIM for this? I use AIS's 90 baht/month unlimited 2Mbps add-on package on my regular prepaid voice/data SIM in my phone and it's adequate for my internet usage, email, streaming radio, etc., so wondering if they have something similar in a data-only package. I know I can hot-spot my phone but I'm looking for something a bit more autonomous for family and other passengers to use. Thanks! NL
  12. My oldest has indicated he wants a laptop for his birthday in late April and he wants something that would be decent for gaming as well as for college. He's not a 24/7, always-on sort of gamer but thinking about getting something that's maybe an entry-level gaming laptop rather than a 65k baht ASUS ROG sort of machine? For example, we've maxed out an old i5 for the home gaming machine and when he comes across the few games that don't fly or crash, he moves onto a game that does. I believe Ryzen may be a better CPU option versus i7 machines depending on your price break? Any tips and guidance on this? Thanks! NL
