  1. What was the price at the pump in AZ before 28 Feb, when some White House dog walker let Trump off his leash?
  2. Not enough to justify the prices? Petrol and diesel prices in Thailand have increased by around 22% over the past month. Crude oil has gone up maybe 40% over the past month. Meanwhile, Jet A-1 fuel price has more than doubled over the same period, and it wasn't exactly cheap before that either. Middle East countries, along with the US, China, South Korea, India, Singapore and Japan, are a major refiner of Jet A-1. Accordingly, their airlines only need to rely on a tanker truck and not an oil tanker.
  3. The RAF did not create a no-fly zone as the Luftwaffe simply switched to bombing London and other cities. That switch was a strategic blunder as it's arguable that had they persisted in targeting the RAF airfields for a few weeks more, the Battle of Britain would have had a different outcome. Hitler had lost patience with Göring's notion that quickly gaining air superiority by targeting enemy airfields and destroying their air force would win the war. It was as fanciful then as it is now.
  4. Evidence of that happening? ...crickets
  5. Statistical evidence? ...crickets
  6. What have you said? I may have missed it.
  7. They still have some. They still have leadership. Nothing has been won yet, let alone obliterated. Evidence of that? The US and Israel are still dropping smart bombs, and launching drones and missiles. So is Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas. Generally speaking, you don't do that when you have already vanquished your foe, or you have already been obliterated. But you could be making it all up.
  8. Wars have never been won by creating no-fly zones, having air superiority due to 'modern air power' or obliterating countries with bombs and drones alone. This one won't be setting any precedent in that regard. Israel has been bombing Gaza and Lebanon for years already. They're still bombing Gaza and Lebanon, but Iran is maybe 160 times bigger than Lebanon and Gaza combined. I remember hitting a red ants nest with a lawnmower once...
  9. Yup, only opinionated farangs who think they know everything and drive better than anyone else would mention that, let alone laugh at it.
  10. That cheap BKK-IST on Emirates indicates it has 1-stop. That will be in Dubai. With a total flight time of over 15 hours, that's at least a 4 hour layover in DXB. Check your travel insurance.
  11. My experience in pre-war times, the BKK-PER non-stop was always expensive if you could get a seat. Very high demand. My cheaper alternative was with Malaysian via KUL. Mind you, their 2 am arrival time wasn't handy.
  12. Absolutely correct. If the OP does acquire one, he can personally explore where and when it has proved to be beneficial for his unique requirements and ignore anyone else's experiences as they are irrelevant. And refrain from posting what those unique benefits were in the next, inevitable pink ID card debate thread as they will still be irrelevant.
  13. Why would a foreign condo dweller have any insight on why some fellow foreign condo dwellers chose to jump? I recall many years back that the fee-pay access to the swimming pool on top of Mike Department Store was stopped after several older foreigners who apparently came to swim, jumped to their death. In most every reported case, serious health concerns, financial stresses or mental issues of the older foreign 'flyers' have been cited by partners, friends and family as the reason they chose to end their lives so decisively. As for the burgeoning numbers of late Gen Z and young Millennials that are slipping or falling, they invariably appear to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol, fall from a lower height and end up horribly injured.
  14. I think we were already woken up when the Iraqi WMD's turned out to be a big fat American lie. Go back to sleep.
  15. There was a news item on UK television last week that claimed very few European airlines had hedging in place. Not sure if airlines from other regions were similarly caught short but I suspect it was the case. Maybe global trade instability due to the "tariff wars" may have caused them not to hedge? Regardless, oil is a commodity that is traded on the spot market, and thus all petroleum by-products are susceptible to the same price volatility due to scarcity. Airlines are still burning through huge amounts of the "cheap" fuel every day and that needs same-day replenishment regardless of the fact that the Jet A-1 in the tank at the airport went up in price overnight isn't "new" stock. It's the same as the gold in the display cases at the gold shop. The chain that went up in price overnight while simply hanging there isn't "new" gold.
  16. WEF? I like a good stretch in the morning.
  17. Thanks for doing the AI legwork. So the higher cost for non-stop and/or bypass is primarily due to demand and nothing to do with fuel burn at all.
  18. The non-stop or middle east bypass flights are more expensive solely due to demand as passengers seek a safer routing. There's no difference in fuel burn between 2 x 6-hour flights and 1 x 12-hour flight. The cheapest air fares right now are on Emirates and Etihad. Unless your travel insurance forbids it, take your chances and save money. Qatar are a bit more expensive. I believe Gulf Air have relocated their fleet from Bahrain and aren't coming up in searches for long distance routes Since oil and gas operates on the spot market, the prices will rapidly fall if Hormuz is reopened.
  19. Good to see the Senator focusing on the really important issues.
  20. Reminds me of The Tower in Hull back in the early '90's. Great night out!
  21. What sort of philanthropy are you carrying out on Soi 6?
  22. You got your Israel mention in earlier, didn't you?
  23. But they weren't and there isn't. Your disappointment is palpable.
  24. Good grief tubby, next you'll be yelling that some of your best friends are gay.
