What are the Schengen visa sponsor requirements, specifically financial requirements? I want to sponsor a Lao passport holder for a Schengen visa to visit Slovenia (lowest rejection rate) for one week. How much the sponsor is responsible if the person becomes illegal by not leaving the Schengen area? I have a US passport sponsoring a Lao passport holder for a Schengen visa. The budget is 10K USD. The goal is to travel from Slovenia to Paris and the the person being sponsored has a high possibility of being lost in Paris Lao community.

When was Malaysia GDP/capita equaled to Thailand's GDP per capita. In 1990, Malaysia stood at 2,500 USD vs Thailand's $1500 USD per capita. The problem with Thailand is it heavily depended on low skilled Tourism industry and brothels fronting as bars throughout the country. No country has prospered by inviting old low skilled and low income foreigners to marry poverty stricken local girls from the bars in exchange for marriage visas.

Still waiting for the days when 40 BHT will be one USD as It was when I had to flee my nomadic living in Europe to Thailand. I have also witnessed the dark days when one US was mere 29 BHT. More importantly I am waiting for interest rate to go up so that I can borrow money from CC at 3-4% and earn in saving at 6% as I used to before the 2008 housing crash. 100K borrowed from CC at 3% used to net me 2,000 USD or 80,000 BHT at 40 BHT per USD with zero risk.

So you are expecting members to post positive comments (like no risk, please come, you allowed by the law). Nobody really knows. Posters can only guess. Though there is no law to deny you entry but the entry to every country is dependent on the IOs. He can always deny entry. And you have access to an appeal system.

My permit to stay expires September 30, 2022. Can I book a flight for October 1, 2AM? Will I be stamped and charged overstay fees?

Embassy asking more documents than the eVisa
Onerak replied to Big FranK's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Nobody really has time to talk to people who cannot differentiate between a visa and a permission to stay. -
I have an US Passport on a tourist visa to Thailand. (90-day stay). I want to go to Laos (from Pattaya to Nong Khai and then crossing the river to Laos, Vientiane). What type of visa do I need? How to apply? What is the best way to plan a trip. Any hotel suggestions. Please advise.

Economy to Improve Further On Consumption and Tourism
Onerak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
De globalization is a myth. Yes, some reshuffling is going on now as the World has realized the danger of concentrated supply chain in one country. China's 18 trillion behemoth is not going anywhere. -
how do you invest now when there is a gloomy inflation already started?
Onerak replied to parafareno's topic in Pattaya
Investment is such an animal. One has to always find the right product at a right price. My philosophy is not to invest in Thailand even if you buy a property for residence only. If possible, get the loan from your home country at cheaper rate. Don't think about the property as an investment. Thailand houses/condos are not as liquid as American real property. You can't even get a loan using your property. If it's just for residence and you want to avoid the hassle of moving, go for it. -
It's a secret regulation and if everybody knew about it the fortunates but desperate who have to flee their brith place to seek living and brides in a foreign land will be reluctant to share their fortunes with unfortunates who were born in Thailand and not able to earn dollars but have achieved significant position in their own society to demand such a share.
-
Nothing. You think too much. Yes IOs are bribed but why they won't earn extra cash from desperate people who come to Thailand to retire or find brides. The irony is that one group of fortunates born in Western countries but no means to survive in their birth places and have to migrate. Another group of people unfortunates born in Thailand and not able to to earn dollars. So, it is a swap fortunates money to unfortunates. As simple as that.

Departure ticket to get visa exempt
Onerak replied to Druidian's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Immigration really does not care about return ticket. It is only for the flight. If immigration asks for a return ticket, they have already decided to deny entry and looking for an excuse and in that scenario, the ticket is not valid because reservation has expired. You can attempt to buy a return ticket on the spot, but immigration will find another reason to deny you entry. -
Did you have an earlier TM-30 in the passport? In jomtien in registered only once. My condo/lease does not change. I have a 10-year lease. My passport changed and I got a new passport and registered again. That's it. Not going to register every time I make a foreign trip.

Change from OA to O visa
Onerak replied to Ron webber's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Many agents can do O-A extensions without insurance and some will charge an extra 2,500 baht. No need to leave the country, enter again and then convert to O and eventually get an extension. -

If OP is not able to read between the lines and need explanation for everything, I pity him. -
Retirement visa for New Zealander
Onerak replied to Bill Kiwi 68's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
This question has been asked million times. Why you think this would be legit? I want to know the rationality used to conclude that it may be legit. No, there is no risk. Thousands do it every year. The IOs will be bribed and they will earn extra cash because they were not fortunate enough to be born in a Western country to earn dollars. I'm pretty sure if they were born in a western country, they would have earned more and there would be no need to accept bribery money. It also benefits you. You are going to legally stay in Thailand for a mere 15K (in Pattaya) baht every year. -
It is has nothing to do with some entity admitting it or denying it. Unless the second quarter GDP data is announced (on July 28), it is premature to think the US GDP has shrunk. Yes lots of economists are saying America is in a recession but it is not conclusive yet unless second quarter GDP is announced. I strongly believe that we are not in a recession and on JUly 28, it will be confirmed. We must have missed narrowly because I don't see any other tell tale signs of a recession. Consumer sentiments are bad because of high gas prices. Market is unstable because of a recession fear. Job data are strong. Unemployment is extremely low. Wage is growing.

Change from OA to O visa
Onerak replied to Ron webber's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I stayed two years during the covid-19 by paying 15K to an agent. No insurance required. I also did not keep any money in the bank.
