Work permit to open a Bank account ?
Onerak replied to Jackcwba's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I don't like Krungsri banks website. I don't see it saves info of people who I have have sent money to as I have to enter their info each time I send money to them. Bangkok bank no problem. May be Kasi Korn app is better but my Kasi Korn bank account is suspended long time ago and they now ask me for a WP when I last time checked with them for opening an account. -
Leaving the car in Thailand for 6 months.
Onerak replied to sirineou's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I left my car for two years in my home in the US and when I came back I just had to jump start my car. After few months the brakes starting grinding and took it to the shop they said needs brake disc resurfacing. Not sure if that it was for parking the car or not. May be the brake was very old. The car is fairly old in US standard where people change cars every 10-years and the car was 17 years old as I don't drive often and most of the times I'm outside the US (I was a digital nomad pre-covid), pre-covid. But it is garage kept (so no snow or sunlight/rain hitting the car). People do suggest to disconnect the battery if parked for long. -
Most nomads I have met in my lifetime are earning 100K. There is also a possibility of lots of Chinese and Indian remote workers getting the visa. I know lots of big American companies like Intel, Cisco, AMD, Oracle etc. are hiring Indian remote workers for 60-80K salary. I don't have a definite numbers but I think 40K USD salary will attract a large number of nomads.

Non O via based on marriage in Singapore?
Onerak replied to sikishrory's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Border bounce is a hassle like to avoid. METV too much paper works. 15K is only 2.5K per month. or a megre $75/month. Not a bad options. Will look into different possibilities but not border bounce definitely. -

THailand does not require anything. What's required by your destination country depends on the destination country. -
Non O via based on marriage in Singapore?
Onerak replied to sikishrory's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
This gave me an idea of staying 6-months in Thailand If I don't want to apply for an extension, I can keep on spending from the 800K money pot and let's say I spent 400K and go back to USA after 6-months. Comeback the following year with another TV and repeat the process after filling up the pot. How much do the agents charge only for O-visa without money? I'm planning for a 6-month stay every year. Pre-covid and before they imposed insurance requirements, I used to get O-A from USA every two years. During the Covid-19, I got extensions twice stayed two years in Thailand and now back in the US. Planning for a visit in May-July time frame for 6-months every year from now on again. -

Wait till July. Likely most restrictions will be gone. I was planning for a May entry but decided to wait for July. -

What was it like to have a Cataract operation in Thailand
Onerak replied to webfact's topic in Health and Medicine
I stay in Thailand for less than 6 months a year. But I have two residences in the USA - in IL and Las Vegas. How would they know where do I stay in the USA? My current health insurance (UHC PPO) does not have any restrictions in the USA. I am not a medicare recipient right now but will be eligible next month. -

Does the medicare supplement cover in Thailand? -
May be just condense three pages to one page in places like Kinko (now FedEx Office or similar).

If one follows CDC's guidelines, nobody can travel anywhere in the entire World, including most of Europe. Of course, China is level I. Unfortunately, large American companies will be reluctant to let people travel to high risk countries.

This is not about banks and I have two residences in the USA. IL and Las Vegas. This is about some specific servers protected against IP addresses outside IL. I have tried in different states and they are blocked when trying to access from outside IL.

Will check it. I am now in US but outside IL. SO I can check it from another states.

I need a server located in IL sepcifically not for opening bank accounts. I have more than US 50 bank accounts and 500+ credit cards with more than a 3 million in available credits. . That's not my problem. My problem is accessing some IL servers that are IP restricted to connection from IL only. Hope the Chicago server will do. Thanks.

I have a question about SurfShark. Can I chose SurfShark VPN server in a specific US states, for example, I need to connect to IL (most probably a server in Chicago) server when I am in Thailand. Is it possible with SurfShark? Can you please check and confirm before I sign up. Thanks.

Your main problem is not able to have a US phone number. There are lots of suggestions in this forum about how to get a US phone number that works outside the US to receive SMS message, am I correct? If so, $3/month T-Mobile phone number should be adequate I think. I remember receiving SMS on my T-mobile number in Thailand. May be somebody can confirm it. I'm in the US now, so I can't confirm it. Most US bank option to use email or SMS for verification. Get a bank (e.g. Ally) that has option for email verification instead of SMS verification only.
