    Which one?

uBlock Origin seems to be the one with favourable reviews. The others less so.

Can't agree more ... it works a treat with utube and removes so much clutter everywhere you browse too. Completely different internet with Ublock Origin.

    uBlock Origin is your friend.

I used AdBlock, but YT detected it and asked me to unblock. I did, and then reblocked. YT then informed me that I would lose all connection if I repeated using AdBlock.

I don't think the committee have the authority to make any change to the use of common facilities, I'm fairly sure it needs to be approved at an AGM or EGM.

We allow private usage of our pool by residents, (co-owners and tenants), per our condo by-laws, (approved at the AGM). Included in that text are the conditions, (numbers of people, times available cost etc). Anyone wishing to avail themselves of the facility have to seek permission of the management office and make a booking. In our case, the building manager would consult the committee, (including me), and I can tell you that approval would not be given for this, as it infringes the rights of all residents.

You should speak to the Juristic Person Manager and your management company, and ask who has approved it. I imagine your neighbours are also rather hacked off that they are excluded too, unless they are included because it is restricted to co-owners.

More mentions of the 20 November 2023 instruction:

DFDL: "The Instruction gives guidance that foreign-sourced income earned before 1 Jan 2024 and remitted into Thailand will not be subject to income tax."

    https://www.dfdl.com/insights/legal-and-tax-updates/thai-revenue-department-issues-additional-guidance-on-foreign-sourced-income-rules/

Mazars: "By virtue of this DI Paw. 162, Thai tax residents will not be required to include their foreign-sourced income earned before 1 January 2024 in their personal income tax returns, even if such income will be brought into Thailand from 1 January 2024 onwards."

The order and its (probably unofficial) translation

Mazars remark, (highlighted), seems to be their interpretation, not written in the translated RD Order.

More amendments to drip out perhaps?

    Same Sex Marriage?

How would that affect  a Foreign Woman marrying a Thai Woman

or a Foreign Man marrying a Thai Man when it comes to Visa extensions?

Who if anyone would have to show the money in the bank?

Who would be the Husband and who would be the Wife when dealing with Immigration.

At the moment a foreign husband has the show the 400k in the bank.

A foreign wife has to show nothing.

Presumably if passed, recognition will only be of same sex "partnerships/marriages" if one of the parties is Thai. For non-Thais who have legal recognition in other countries, the discrimination would still apply.

@Jingthing That is why I made my comment, as above. Until there is clarification, there are interalia tax implications that need to be addressed. The Thai RD are going to be confused enough by the new interpretations, since amended, and doubtless to be amended again.

Millions of state pensioners will receive the biggest pay rise on record next spring, as confirmed by Chancellor Jeremy Hunt in the latest Autumn Statement.

Thanks to the “triple lock” policy, the full new state pension will surpass £11,000 for the first time ever in April 2024, rising to £11,502.40, up from the current payment of £10,600.20 a year.

The basic state pension, paid to those who reached the state pension age before 2016, would rise by more than £600 to £8,814 annually.

The policy, which was a key Conservative manifesto pledge in the last election, promises to increase the state pension every April in line with the highest out of the previous September’s Consumer Price Index measure of inflation (CPI), wage growth or 2.5pc. For 2024/25, the rise will be in-line with wage growth, at 8.5pc.

But this bumper pay rise will come at a massive cost to the Government, and questions were raised earlier this year about whether it might be changed, or scrapped altogether. At a time of mounting political pressure to get public finances under control, the state pension triple lock has become a key area of debate.

    Above from The Telegraph today.

I received my first State Pension on 31 March 2023. By the time of the increase next April, it will be GBP2000 pa more than I am getting, because mine was frozen WEF from my eligible date, (6 days prior to the increase this year).

Finally there is some clarity. Foreign-sourced income earned before January 1, 2024, will be exempt in the future, irrespective of when it’s brought into the country.

    https://sherrings.com/foreign-source-income-personal-tax-thailand.html

My interpretation, (correctly or incorrectly determined) of this new amendment is that there is essentially no change for me to that which previously existed. My overseas funds were accumulated previously to date over many years. If I draw from those savings for normal expenses in Thailand after 1 January 2024, they are exempt from Thai tax. If I transfer a large "capital" sum after 1 January 2024, I will have to show from which source, and if the source is recently acquired, it will be taxable. Currently I plan to do no such large "capital" transfers arising from assets or income after 1 January 2024.

For thais they're already using the auto passport, so if you're with a thai kid, you have to leave her or him and use Foreigner line.

I watched the use of the Thai residents' auto machine from my adjacent long and winding queue for departure. For the max 10 people using the three machines, many had to have a person show them how to use. God help us.

The check in staff only check if you have the correct visa, documentation etc to enter the country you are travelling to, they don’t look through your passport pages looking for stamps, it’s not in their mandate.
We did advise Border Control of the overstay every month but all we had were emails confirming it was ok.

Not so in Madrid, when I left last year. The check in Iberia "check in clerk" (for want of a better description), was upping and downing on my UK passport (at Business Class) as to whether I could enter Thailand. I asked him to give me my passport so I could show him my Re-entry permit, (not that it is required for a UK citizen entering Thailand).

  9. I get the usual friend request a few times per week with an image of a scantily clad woman. Easy enough to Report & Block.

But since yesterday I've been receiving multiple messages from ALLIN99MVP.V99 like this:

    SpamonLINE.thumb.jpg.806248041eb81cd4e680533ff10fe5cf.jpg

    SpamonLINE2.thumb.jpg.2d1871f7e0113c1950f16b062a46ce33.jpg

I do not even get the opportunity to Report & Block. But I report, and it returns. Today I sent a message to LINE and asked them to investigate, which they are doing.

I think this is some gambling site, but I am concerned that these messages are getting through without any ability to block them.

Is anyone else getting these too?

You're right these A/C units are often installed improperly, sometimes simply for aesthetic reasons. I know my drain line is barely sloped down enough, so it's easy for the slime to backup and cause these types of problems.

Until you get this changed, the problem will recur. At one stage I was having the aircon that was problematic cleaned every three months, because the jelly build up took about that time to clog up the tray...and the waterworks began. Almost 3 months to the day, in each of the several cases. My whole renovation in 2019 was to fix the continuous aircon problems I had over the preceding 15 years. So I ripped all of them out, (they were the built-in type, put in by my first contractor in 2004), and as it involved so much ceiling and wall work, renovated the whole place as well. It was therefore rather irritating to find that the newly installed split Mitsubishi inverter units with bells on failed, as described. The only thing I can say is that the electricity bill has fallen by 75%, because the old units were clearly unfit for purpose on every level.

  11. The most important thing is that your outflow pipe from your aircon unit flows at a downward angle towards the (outside) outflow pipe.

I had a repeated problem of my newly installed aircon. Always leaked after 2 or 3 months. Solution was to remove the boxed in area and make the outflow pipe slope downwards, so that no water collected in the tray. Then to insulate the outflow pipes and the copper coolant pipe, (which in the original installation had been duct-taped together, causing condensation, which after time dripped through the boxed area). As well as this, I have all aircons (5) professionally cleaned every 6 months. Whereas before the main culprit, (my bedroom aircon, which gets most use) used to have "jelly" in it, now it does not, because the water flows out, and does not accumulate in the aircon's tray.

I also cut the outflow pipes (outside) into 2 segments, with a funnel, covered with mesh. If the far end of the run off pipe, which feeds into a drain, gets clogged, the water dripping through will backflow through the funnel, (outside) on the balcony.

All 5 aircons were "professionally" installed during a major renovation, but three years later, and several major "waterfalls" later, ruining JT silk curtains et al, I decided to take out the box (in which the pipes were hidden for aesthetics). As I suspected, the piping was as described above, (completely ignoring the 101 of these things, gravity). Once fixed, the box was reinstated, and so far, everything seems to be working satisfactorily, (although I've probably jinxed it by writing all of this).

Aircon installation by "professional aircon installers" is not of a very good quality, and the problems occur long after the contractor has disappeared.
