  1. I will probably get shot down in flames for this. Nowhere near as good as a homemade one but when needs must...
  2. What was you thinking?! You've opened up a huge can of worms now. Just wait for the usual suspects to come along. Apparently, there is no good British food. 555
  3. Tell me about it! She's very handy with a frying pan, just not when it comes to cooking.
  4. That's a bit like yesterday. My Mrs was cooking lunch for us both and I casually stated that she was more of an arsonist than a cook. Not a big problem, I can still see the computer screen through my one good eye....
  5. That's very good going I recently lost around 12 kg over the space of a year (slowly, but hopefully it will stay off). I have started eating more "salad meals" as I call them. Not talking about just having a salad. If I fancy something like fish and chips, I'll make a big bowl of salad and have a small fillet of fish (still "traditional" battered fish) with maybe 10 or so oven chips and put it all on top of the salad. Still get the enjoyment of the fish and chips but at a fraction of the calories. I've tried many things you wouldn't normally put on a salad but they've all gone down quite well.
  6. Great topic by the way
  7. Stale or soft bread? Too tight/can't be a##ed to get a fresh one until tomorrow? Rub a little bit of water over the crust and shove it in a hot oven for 5-10 minutes. Perfectly edible and crusty.
  8. For good poached eggs (which sometimes can be difficult to achieve) I put the un-cracked egg into the hot boiling water first for 15-30 seconds. It ever so slightly, but not noticeably visible, sets the white. Then crack it and put it into the water in the usual way, Gives a good, round poached egg. Some people swirl the water first, some put in a teaspoon of vinegar.
  9. I use one of these to cover the pan when frying sausages etc. Whilst avoiding getting hot fat splatter on my naked torso it also much reduces the area that needs wiping down after (the hob that is, not my naked torso).
  10. Wear swimming goggles when chopping a potent onion. You may look a bit of a knob, but no more crying.
  11. Or you could open a new thread regarding the topic you are discussing. It's not often I agree with BN but I do in this instance. This topic is about managing forum toxicity, not US politics. I'm not having a pop, I usually enjoy your posts but in this case they are way off topic.
  12. What did you do? Kick her into submission?
  13. Hannon - If you know that you definitely won't be staying for longer than 90 days then SETV (single entry tourist visa) via the online Thailand Embassy London website may be your best bet. This will allow you initial 60 day stay with 30 day extension available via the immigration office where you are located. No harsh financial requirements. You may experience a few confusing questions (online) to apply for this which are not relevant. If confused, message back to this thread and many people will give you the correct answers. If this is not the best advice, other posters will be along to push you in the right direction.
  14. Wise words indeed. You could do yourself a mischief. I'm having an afternoon in the bar with a few beers. By way of precaution I've had a "warm up" can of Singha at home to ensure I do not encounter such problems.
  15. Don't keep us waiting, what does it taste like? I know it's still early but you need to take one for the team and crack it open! 555
  16. I thought it was compulsory, if not the law, to be a heavy drinker in Scotland?
  17. Not your mum? 555
  18. Nice of you to share a picture from the family album. 555
  19. There is a soi in Lamai on Samui commonly known as Soi Kee Ma. It's a strip of bars. Before it was paved you had to hop down it foot to foot dodging the dog $#it. I used to look like I was doing some weird tribal dance. Also made checking out the bars/ladies quite difficult as it was constantly eyes on the ground.
  20. I do hope not. I think that is the time he is planning on "going for a jump".
  21. Who's confused? Is that you transam?
  22. That will never happen. They both thrive off of antagonising each other. Pretty much ruins every thread though.
  23. When I first came to Thailand late 90's mobile phones weren't that common. I got friendly with an Italian restaurant owner and his wife had a telephone which you could use to phone home for a fee. She was a rather large lady and her name was Mo but I spent the first week calling her moo. At the time I didn't know this was the Thai word for pig.
  24. Wow, that's got to hurt. The little fella looks quite coy about it.
  25. You girls normally wait until around 5pm before you start bickering....
