  1. Yeah I was a bit worried about that and the Yaba junkies but didn't see anyone dodgy. Mostly peaceful families live there it seems...
  2. Pretty nice dancing if it's not just for the camera ???? This is exactly what I'm looking for. I saw that one in Nana but was too lazy to go up there ???? My <deleted> god, just my luck...
  3. Yeah! At the end of the day, I think this is the underlying truth of it all ???????? 10 years ago I went to a place here in BKK but I can't remember where. The girls didn't really dance but every 20-30 minutes you had some sort of show. Nothing exceptional but at least they were trying to do something you know. If I remember well you even had a girl dancing with a snake.
  4. Thx Razz. What are the rules and the prices in those places ? Do you need to speak Thai ? Are they bothered by the presence of farangs ?
  5. Good point, man. Very observant. Yeah in that case, those trains might still be active. I guess it's surprising to me due to all those people living around. But it's simply as you said: trains going through that part slowly.
  6. At night I have no idea but I didn't see any train while I was there. Didn't spend much time there though. Just walked through really.
  7. I have seen the "restaurant" and a girl. But was it THE girl ? I dunno ???? No I didn't eat there. Maybe next time who knows. Honestly that walk was pretty unreal. Never been in the middle of a slum before.
  8. Found the place. It's actually a very nice walk. 1) MRT Petchaburi 2) Walk along the Saen Seap canal opposite the Asoke pier towards Wat Makkasan. That means you gotta go West (the temple will be on the opposite side at some point). 3) Keep pushing till you reach the slum then go up the stairs in front of you and you will reach the abandoned railway. 4) Turn left and follow the tracks South through the slum till you reach Ploenchit. 5) Go home with the BTS. Great adventure ! Thanks to all of you guys who contributed in solving the mystery of the lost slum ????
  9. Hi guys, Went to Nana Plaza for a couple of drinks and ended up in one of the lower area bars. Can't really remember the name. I think it was the Twister BKK or something like that. It's the first large gogo on the left when you enter the "entertainment center". Anyways. Had my first coke zero outside. Pretty chill. Looking at people coming and going. Then I went inside for another drink hoping to see some pretty girls dancing. It ended up being pretty boring honestly. A lot of girls. Some very cute ones for sure. But too many of them lined up on stage and no real dancing going on. So I thought I might ask you guys if any places are still in the business of real dancing. You know pole dancing or dancing with glowing paint on the body or maybe some fire stuff, etc... You know things that are a bit beautiful / artistic / sexy / enticing. Not that sinister supermarket bs. Before you start, I know most of those places are just an interface between clients and prostitutes. But I thought maybe I could find a bar to watch a decent show while having a drink and relax. Regardless of the area (Cowboy/Nana/Patpong), if you have something to recommend feel free to share ???? Thanks!
  10. I've been there today. Great walk indeed. Street art is actually pretty good. So much better than Sukhumvit honestly. The rest of Chinatown was also very pleasant but not as relaxed. Super busy area. Thanks for the tip, Joseph ????
  11. Fair point. Did that around Wat Makkasan. Followed a canal till I reached a long abandoned railway that lead me to Sukhumvit through slums. Friendly people there. Sounds great. Will do Thx ???? I'm looking for all kind of stuff really. I'm just having a Sukhumvit / Silom overdose right now ???? Funny you should mention Chinatown. I went there today. Pretty amazing indeed. The Ong Ang walking street / canal has soe really cool spots and amazing street art. Sounds nice but too sophisticated for me. I spent my youth in those posh places. Horrible memories honestly. I wanted to go play outside and my parents wanted me to sit straight and use the appropriate place settings. Can't do this anymore...????
  12. That's what I wanna find out. It isn't Sukhumvit for sure. Nor is it rural Isaan. That's for sure. So indeed what is it? What is the environment in which the average Thai city dweller lives ? Dunno...????
  13. You are right. It was indeed a disappointment. "Sky Garden" I was imagining something more grandiose. A shame really but that's life ???? I'm headed to Chinatown soon so will check out Ong Ang. Thanks !
  14. Hi guys, I was wondering where I could go to get a taste of the ordinary Thai way of life in Bangkok. I thought maybe Lat Phrao or Bang Na? I dunno... Any suggestions welcome ????
  15. Could you give me the name of that new station plz ? Just so I understand things properly. Thx ????
  16. I've been looking around for information to go from Bangkok city center to the nearest immigration center (for tourist visa extensions). I've found that the aircon bus 166 Extra can take you there for 22THB. Unless of course it can't... Can you please confirm the above information is accurate ? Thanks for your help ????
  17. Thanks, detective digbeth ???? My god, this forum is just too good. One can virtually ask anything and get the correct answer within 10 mins ???? Anyways, looks like a cool place to visit. Gonna give it a go...
  18. Nice pics, man ???? Looks like a pretty cool area. Worth trying for sure !
  19. Hi guys ???? For those passionate about investigation, here is an opportunity to sharpen your skills. I'm trying to figure out where a specific place is (the one in the video below). Here are a few hints: - Canal with a temple - Abandoned railway next to the canal - On the author's way to MBK This is not much. Reason why I come ask on here ???? Here is the video. Thank you !
  20. No I haven't. Just had a look on Google Maps. Seems like it's an easy enough area to reach. Thanks, Charlie ????
  21. Hi guys ! ???? Went in the Wat Arun / Wat Pho area today. Didn't like it. Too touristy. Gonna give the Chao Prayah Sky Park a try tomorrow or something. What are some nice places to visit along the Chao Prayah with low tourism-related activity ? Feel free to share your tips ! Thanks ????
  22. Less farangs, more indians and chineses when it comes to the tourism industry. Locally, not much will change.
