  1. There is a difference between sound capitalism (that pays, eg, fair salaries )and predator-capitalism
  2. A few years ago? Well, things have changed the past year Read this: https://thepattayanews.com/2024/08/26/reader-mailbag-addressing-the-motorbike-noise-issue-in-pattaya/ And Jomtien got his 'fair' share! On a Dutch blog, a person mentioned he booked for a week, but 'ran away' after 2 sleepless nights. " https://www.thailandblog.nl/nieuws-uit-thailand/ingezonden-brief-pattaya-news-dringende-aanpak-nodig-voor-geluidsoverlast-door-motoren-in-pattaya/ Translated: Erik says on August 26, 2024 at 11:42 PM Last year I planned to stay in a hotel opposite the beach of jomtien for a week, but after 2 days I left because at night it felt like I was sleeping on a race track.., incessantly racing motor bikes!..
  3. Marked pedestrian crossings are the most dangerous places to cross a street in Thailand. Too many Thai people in cars and on motorbikes don;t have discipline... due to lack of police in the streets acting when they see a traffic violation. Tell me, WHERE in Pattaya, on which main crossings, do you see a policeman? Let alone a policeman who stops ANY traffic-rules violator!??
  4. Anyone better than a women abuser, narcissistic manipulator, liar (during 2017-2021 he lied 30,000 times), braggart (he said in 2016 he would solve the M-East crisis), financial abuser (his son in law got 2 billion for his investment fund from S-Arabia, in exchange for Trump (USA) delivering weapons. His China trade- war costed the average US household $400 a year. Trump's businesses benefited for 11 million of the corporate tax cut from 35-21%, but caused the US debt to increase with trillions! And the bastard was just dumb lucky that Putin didn't invade Ukraine during his administration. On top of all, he is dividing the US people by inciting his voters to 'fight, fight'... the Democrats. INSANE IDIOT, that is what Trump is. He just launched a crypto business.... and for sure he will benefit. BTW: Elon Musk is smart by supporting Trump: When Trump wins, Trump now has changed pro-EV. When Harris wins, she will continue the pro-EV policy of Biden. Always win for mr EV, Elon Musk ! (and his 26 billion he recently got as an extra bonus will not suffer under higher taxes)
  5. Police lost all control??? They don't know the world 'control'. Police in Pattaya are not seriously doing their job. Stand for one hour at a main crossing with traffic lights, and you will notice 50-100 traffic violations - and this is WITHOUT counting those motorbike riders not wearing a helmet! Nearly NEVER do I see any police there. And if there is one, then he is standing in the shadow or sitting in an air-con police box. A policeman seems to be willing to do something ONLY when his boss orders him. I have seen a policeman on a motorbike, waiting for red light. Other motorbikes passed him and waited on the pedestrian crossover in front of him.... he didn't say/do anything !!! I bet in any Western country, all of these traffic violators would have been fined.
  6. And let the bad people win? Come on! Pls call 1337 or email saraban(at)pattaya.go.th
  7. Could be the case for a lot of them... Unfortunately, I also see some ladies on loud motorbikes... (which probably belong to their BF)
  8. I am not a native speaker English, but are you saying an advantage of extreme loud motorbikes is that you can hear them coming? Then, with all respect, you forget that those extreme loud motorbikes 'overrule' the noise of normal motorbikes, which then you might not hear coming.
  9. 1000 motorbikes riding at a 200-400m distance from my house don;t bother me, 10 way too loud motorbikes every hour keep me out of my sleep.
  10. Sorry, typo: email = saraban (at) pattaya.go.th
  11. HI all, More and more way too loud small motorbikes and big motorbikes in Pattaya and Jomtien. I think several 1000's. The noise is overwhelming, annoying. Silencers have been taken out of the exhaust pipes, or special, modified exhaust pipes have been installed. Mostly Thais, but also foreigners. It looks like a competition "who can produce the loudest noise". Even a few extremely loud cars around. Police doesn't seem to care. May I suggest we (anyone who agrees this is unpleasant and actually crazy behavior) complain via telephone at City Hall 1337 or email saraban[at]pattaya.go.th . Thanks! Best wishes, Steven
  12. Ok, thank you both! I will try this filter shop!
  13. Hi, I would like to place such a system under my sink. Which company, which system would you advise? Thanks!
  14. Hi folks, Any experiences in BPH regarding quality for placing an implant (my front upper tooth broke).
  15. He spends around 2 million baht, sometimes even more, indeed. Because he is severely handicapped and needs two 24/7 caretakers, in a large, expensive rental apartment. They entertain him, driving him to some nice places. Next he needs to pay his (expensive) medications by himself (OPD meds not included in his insurance coverage). He needs to pay for expensive diet food, diapers etc etc. Yearly ~ 2 hospitalizations (last year 4 times!), of which he also needs to pay co-insurance.
  16. He uses 800,000 for his yearly extension of stay. His pensions are paid to his USA bank account, and now and then transferred (~ 4x a year) to his Thai bank account. The money he needs in Thailand ~ 2 million baht: he pays a high rent for a big apartment, two 24/7 caregivers. Anyway, thanks to all you here, I know now that his VA disability benefit is a USA Government pension, which will not be taxed in Thailand. That is a relieve, otherwise possibly his budget might not be enough to stay here. Thanks!
  17. Hi all, American guy (65+ yrs old), got social security + small pension based on his previous job (both taxed in USA). But also got a high disability (military) pension, which is tax free in the USA. Question: will this disability benefit be taxed in Thailand? He brings in all his money, because he is severely handicapped and needs nearly all his money for rent, caregivers + medications (Out Patient Medications are not paid by his insurance). Can anyone give me a name of an accountant in Thailand who deals with tax filing for USA citizens in Thailand, or even better: similar cases (if any)?
  18. Hi folks, BPH (Pattaya) is expensive when staying in ward room and extremely expensive when staying in ICU. And medicines seem to be almost double in price, compared to a pharmacy. Does anyone know pricing in Queen Sirikit hospital, Sattahip? It is for an old guy who regularly has severe health problems. He got insurance but I'm afraid that at some point the insurance won't pay the excessive bills in full. Thanks!
  19. 10 million baht --> transfer it to dollars: 4-5% interest
  20. Farang (US citizen) and Thai lady want to divorce. Simple divorce, no assets money to share. He recently got a new passport. Now, it seems that the District Office in Pattaya demands that this new passport needs to be certified by the US Embassy and the Thai consul. IMO, a passport is a certified document BY DEFINITION! Anyone heard about this? Is this certification really needed? (Immigration accepted this passport when he extended his stay for 1 year...)
  21. - Live in, 24/7, but 1 day off per week. Other holidays in consultation: then need someone to replace. - She will be working together with a Thai lady. - The two ladies need to take care his meals, medications (he has some dementia, can't remember when to take what). Shower him, clean after toilet (his hands are trembling, so he has problems doing this himself). Help him getting dressed. Guide him when he goes to the beach or a restaurant (the Thai lady got a car). Most of the time the ladies will only sit and keep an eye on him, spend time with him relaxing on the beach or other places. He can walk, but needs guidance when, eg, stepping on and off pavements (his sight is not good: glaucoma). - 25,000 baht a month.
  22. Hi all, Old man needs a care taker. She must speak some basic English. He is annoyed when a Thai lady doesn't. That is why he prefers having a Philippine care taker. Can live in, good salary. Only care taking, no relation. Thanks!
