Surprise! Surprise! This afternoon, the BiB were out ticketing vehicles parked in the new lane. How long this will go on is anyones guess, but at least its a start.
-
If the bill has gone past its due date you can no longer pay at Seven 11. so you have to go direct to the Electric company " Gaan Fye Far "
They have 2 offices, 1 in Naklua near Banglamung police Stn, and 1 in Chaiyaporeuk 2 Jomtien. (Jomtien much less waiting or cueing)
And the one I reported in Royal Garden.
-
Sorry if this has been reported before, but if it has I cannot find it.
There is now a payment office in Royal Garden on the second floor (first floor for us Brits). Apparently it has be there since January. It seems that they do not do much business - today when I went in there was 3 staff and I was the only customer at that time.

The only new jam I know in Pattaya is the traffic jam on Beach Road cause by the new car park.

All very funny, but it is just as well he was a "tourist" and not a member of al qaeda or one of the crazies from the south. Serious questions need to be asked by airlines and international travelling commmunity at large.

OP "cruncher"
Have a 8 month old City in the camp great motor and never used anything but E20 but if not available you can use just about anything esle other than E85 and diesel of course.
Have a Yaris 2008 as well running a long time on E20 and never any problems.
Thanks. Early days yet, but so far so good on E20

There is an Electrolux service center on Photisarn Road (off Pattaya-Naklua Road) at Soi 6, almost to the Sukhumvit end.
The shop is not marked or signed, but there is generally a truck parked outside with the Electrolux logo on the doors. The phone number is 087-1301119. I think they send all repairs to Bangkok.
Another alternative is Num Chai which is an authorized service center. Phone is 038-424303.
Agee. Try Num Chai Service Center on Suk. They are very helpful.

The first short stretch of the new lane was open this afternoon. It was a solid line of parked cars and taxis. City Hall have lost the plot already.

@sugar2009
You may be very versed in the procedure, but sadly your information is not accurate, and difficult to read without paragraphs.
There is no need to copy the complete passport, just the bio page and the page containing your permission to stay.
The British Embassy or Consulate has no involvement whatsoever, it doesn't check the application and neither does it take the money.
The applicant sends the application and fee directly to Hong Kong.
Not sure what you mean when you refer to the 90 day visit, I'm assuming you are referring to the 90 day report.
It may also be good to point out that your passport (which will still be in your possession if applying from Thailand) will be electronically cancelled once the renewal process begins.
So, even though you have the physical passport in your possession, don't try to use it for travel during the process, wait until your new one arrives.
I read this when I renewed my passport. I wonder how they do it. Is the Passport Office's computer linked to the computers of the immigration department in every country in the world? Do they use a satallite to zap your passport? I doubt it. You might have a problem entering UK, but travelling from Thailand to Cambodia?????
-
Well; the road works have solved one problem - motor cycles taking up one lane of the road. Now all the motor cycles are parked on the pavement. LOL
-
I understand that new passports are arriving in about a month.
less than 2 weeks usually.
In that case, my recent new passport was the exception to the 2-week rule in taking a month to arrive!
The website says about 4 weeks. My recent renewal was just 2 days less than that.

well....my rant is over ...for now...the beach is looking much better ,they have replanted many trees ..these super tall exotic looking coconut trees...this could be good...but the buses will still be an issue....any how it is looking like they may.build to plan....fingers crossed....
Interesting turnaround. When I went for a look a couple of days ago it struck me that they seemed to be getting on with things pretty swiftly, can it be that they are actually going to do a proper job this time? As you say, fingers well and truly crossed.

Since I live on Beach Rd, north I see the daily construction. The palm trees I see were already there and were left since they were not in the path of the new lane or new walkway. Yes, the road construction pace is surprisingly going fast since there are "supervisors" on hand to keep an eye on things (they stay under the white open tent) and there is even a night shift that works - I'd estimate that the project will be done by next October.
Some of the trees were left it is true, but they have planted a load of new ones and seem to be doing some gardening. From the trucks that were there it would appear that the landscaping is being done by Nong Nooch who are pretty good.
As said, keep fingers crossed. I am afraid the traffic management aspects are flawed though. But let us see.

In a few weeks I will (hopefully) take possession of a new Honda City. After years of driving a diesel I would appreciate some advice on the best fuel for my new City.
What I am asking is what is the difference between E10 91, E10 95 and E20 as far as engine care and engine performance is concerned?
Most of the old threads I have turned up focus on cost and fuel consumption. I can factor in these myself. What I want to know is what is best for the engine and what will give me the best ride. Disappointingly the dealer was little help and the advice was little more than "up to you." Most of my driving is short trips around town.
Thanks for the help.

I have been told different offices have different forms for this. Anyone got a link to the correct form for Jomtien? Thanks.
As to paying - you can refuse. You will be treated with a smile, very polite and a "So sorry. We are very busy. Come back 2 weeks to get the paper." That has happened at Jomtien.
Here:

Thanks for the response. Your effort is appreciated.
This form is from 2006 and is out of date. However the one on the Immigration website worked for me today. I completed both forms just in case, but was told the 2006 form was "old form".

I haven't gone into the actual City for ages during Songkran but this year it sure seems to be a little more peaceful then any other year in Pattaya. Normally by today Sukhumvit is a river.
Yes. It has not been as bad as recent years so far, but that is a relative term. It has still been very unpleasant for those who live and work in the City.
What has been missing so far is the overloaded trucks with huge tubs of water and high pressure guns. Unfortunately these are back with a vengance today, especially on Beach Road, Second Road and the Sois inbetween.

SAWASDEE PEE MAI !!!!!! It's so nice to see the Thai's so happy. After all it is their traditional New Years and they are on Holiday.
I understand people not liking the Pattaya Clown Farangs being crazy and neither do I however to the people who come on here bashing it all please just stay out of it and let the Thai's enjoy their new years. After all you are in Thailand.
SSCC, just a few kids with squirt guns so far. Nothing to avoid really.
Normally I would agree with that sentiment and I am certainly happy to see Thais enjoying their New Year. What I object to is 10 days of mayhem in Pattaya. What happens here is not part of Thai tradition or culture. If people want to enjoy themselves there is no problem provided they do not drag in other who do not want to enjoy the "fun". If I want to go from say Markland on Soi 1 to Royal Garden, Central
Festival or Tuk Com travelling on foot, by motor cycle or on a baht bus,I should have a choice as to whether I arrive wet or dry to spend a
couple of hours in an air conditioned mall. These idiots take away my choice by their ignorance and bad manners.
In the past 2 days I have twice seen mothers in strollers doing their best to protect toddlers in strollers from getting drenched. In both cases the offenders were Thai. This sort of behaviour is anti social.
In fact along Second Road and in North Pattaya generally most of the players are Thais and Asian tourist; not that many white skinned farang for a change. But whoever they are they have a right to enjoy themselves as long as they do not cause danger and annoyance others. That does not happen in Pattaya at Songran.

6p.m. this evening the nutters in bars along Beach Road had their water guns out spraying evreything in sight, And it is still 2 days to Songran. Saw 2 near accidents where motor cycles were sprayed in less than 100 yards.
Fun is fun, but this is the annual madness. About time the authorities got some sanity and a sense of proportion into the celebrations. I can dream I supose.

When coming into Thailand on a re-entry permit, what number do you put in the "Visa No." section of the TM 6?
Thanks.
-
I wrote "nominee". The Anti-nominee act of Thailand was adopted to prevent foreigners to circumventing Thai laws, by using people into their company that are not "real shareholders". In other words, they do not really invest but are "ghosts" into the company, having Thai shares, so the company is Thai and does not go against the foreign business act. Obviously, lawyers or staff can be shareholders but they can not be nominee, even if this is widely spread in Thailand.
Anti-nominee act of Thailand? Is this a new law. Thought the use of nominees breached the Foreign Buisness Act and The Land Code.
The use of nominees to enable foreigners to own land, or even condos in the Thai quota, has always been ilegal. Seems the only thing that has changed is that rules (laws) are being more strictly enforced. I doubt the rules have changed.
-
Do you have to apply in person for a re-entry permit or can someone go ti Immigration on your behalf?
I shall apply at Jomtien if that makes a difference.
Thanks

Back to the OP.
As I understand it, the land next to VT6 is in fact 2 plots, front and back. The owners have been trying to buy each other out for years, but could never reach an agreement.
Apparently a developer has reached agreement with both parties to develop the land. What will be built or when it will start I have no idea.

A Thai friend told me a couple of days ago that the scheme has been extended. Apparently it has been reported in the Thai press. I was surprised as I too thought it was over.
I read the Thai press every day - haven't seen anything being reported to substantiate. Got a link?
Sorry no. This was word of mouth from a Thai who was intending to buy. Despite the fact that I said the scheme was over she was adament that she was going to buy. She certainly seemed to know what she was talking about and she is a well educated person having been to college in USA. Of course that is no guaranttee of anything.

Ref your point 3 - the developer can't do that. He has to pay in full. See a lawyer to take it up with lands offce. They have acted in respect of other condos in this situation - not least Northpoint.
