  1. Here is a link to an article about foreigners unpaid hospital bills. Destitute foreigners in Thailand and unpaid hospital bills - Pattaya Mail I can understand that the Government might be concerned about Baht 450 million in unpaid hospital bills. It does, however, seem that a requirement for US$ 50,000 insurance is excessive. The article refers to the Baht 300 levy for incoming tourists, part of which was to deal with this problem. What is not stated is the breakdown between short term tourist and long stay expats. That would be an interesting statistic if available.
  2. Thank you for your last paragraph; I was wondering about that. Now I am none the wiser, but better informed.
  3. As far as I can see most of the websites that offered US$ 100,000 Covid insurance have not been updated. They are probably waiting for a bit of clarity along with many of us. There is quite a big mass market here. I suspect in a week or so they will all be scrabbling for business.
  4. As I read the opening up requirements, "transit/transfers ...is not allowed". Taken literally this must mean direct flights. How many countries/cities outside of SE Asia and Middle east have direct flights to Thailand? Where available they tend to be more expensive than one stop flights. Worse still it might mean flying TAG which is even more expensive. Please tell me I am wrong!! To attract visitors transit should be allowed, if necessary with conditions. Such as:- A time cap on the lay-over, e.g. 8 or 10 hours; Boarding passes for both legs must be issued at point of origin; and Baggage must be checked through for both legs at point of origin. The last 2 are the norm anyway. Perhaps we only need a bit of clarification from the Government.
  5. Common sense says that you combine time in Thailand with the time you spend in the country you visit. But who says anything the Government does is driven by common sense.
  6. What are the public holidays and observed days this week? When are banks and government offices closed? Should be easy right? Check the internet. Trouble is I am getting a variety of different answers; not helped by my Outlook calendar is definitely out of kilter. Does anyone have the definitive answer? Thanks
  7. Actually the fire escape issue was not a cost cutting measure. It occurred when the developer decided to change the low block to a hotel. A hotel needs more lifts than a condo and the extra 3 (?) lifts were built at the expense of the width of corridors and staircases aka fire escapes. As far as I know Bali Hai might have more liabilities than assets, but it has not filed for bankruptcy. The bank is owed more money than the land is worth in its present state and Park Plaza (PPHE) may well be in the hole for some of that.
  8. No quite a renewal, but I have to replace a lost licence at Pattaya. Is there any problems given the current issues with the virus? Thanks.
  9. I had the problem when I tried to open the vaccination certificate, the app closed. I was on the point of reloading the app when suddenly worked. One tip - when you open the certificate do not close it - close the app instead. When you open the app again the certificate will still be there - most of the time anyway - even with no internet connection.
  10. Another silly question. Where can I find the Mor Prom app download for my iPhone. Can't find it in the App Store.
  11. If I want to use Mor Prom to show to, say a restaurant to prove I have been vaccinated do I need an internet connection?
  12. What is the latest position for Thais returning from an overseas trip?
  13. Back on topic. I had my second pfizer jab at Central Festival today. Very quick going through to get the jab. Then the usual half hour observation. Then the wait to get the certificate. The waiting time for me was about 40 minutes in addition to the observation period. Anyway I am happy it is done. An additional note, your address on the certificate is the address of Bangkok Hospital. That seemed to cause a bit of confusion.
  14. What is the difference between Mor Prom App and MorProm@line. I don't have line on my phone. Will I need to install it? I don't have Mor Prom App either.
  15. The question was "anyone had the second pfizer jab....". Anything else is off topic.
  16. So, with 600 getting infected that is a efficacy rate of over 99%? Of course that is not right, but it highlights the misleading use of figures and statistics, especially in sensationalized news reports. Medical staff are at far greater risk than most of us and they deserve every thing being done to keep them in their health and comfort zone. For the rest of us it helps to keep figures and statistics in context.
  17. What is the time between jabs for pfizer? Anyone know?
