  1. Its been a pleasure hanging out in the pub these past 12 months but from now on I will not be opening any new threads/topics (much to the delight of many members here i’m sure). The reasons for this are because I feel I am wasting my time doing so when a sizable minority of folk keep labelling me a troll and calling my honest observations and experiences BS. Also having my comments/replies removed frequently is a contributing factor. Congratulations fellas, you have made me see the light and I will be focusing my attention more on other projects instead of wasting my time opening threads that many of you think are fake. I will still be here, reading the news and posting my comments on other threads but as far as original content from bob in the pub goes, it’s all over from today. Cheers everyone and I hope you all have a wonderful day! Bob.
  2. ....and it wont ever be one, imo. Everything is only for appearances here, nothing is properly enforced.
  3. I would say the answer to that is a resounding NO! They are about as useful as a chocolate teapot.
  4. are they having a laugh? it's not April fools day already, is it??
  5. but of course we should all listen to your opinions though shouldn't we.
  6. the problem is what exactly qualifies as generally accepted. I hope one day you understand that. For example, does someone who outsmarts you and is more articulate than you who ends up making you look a bit silly when he rebuts your posts fall outside the realm of what is generally accepted? Is posting a cartoon emoticon on someones post also a violation of what is deemed OK? Sadly, it seems for some members here that would be the case. I think most people can agree that overt racism, homophobia and direct threats to life are generally not acceptable, but most other topics and/or writing styles should be permissible in a public forum imo.
  7. Thanks pancake. I knew I wasn't goin mad ;)
  8. call it a 6th sense...
  9. Its not often we see eye to eye but well said frogs! you are correct. So really what trolling means here is whatever the mods deem it to be.
  10. I thought you might be, Brian.
  11. please define controversial and inflammatory, as both seem highly subjective and wide open to interpretation.
  12. seek help mike. please!
  13. who are these large numbers? name names mike!
  14. Still have no idea what you are talking about.
  15. so my opinion doesn't count but everyone elses does? what kind of backward logic is that? my god.
  16. why would I have to change my name? i'm quite happy using my birth name thanks.
  17. I honestly have yet to see what us internet nerds would define as a genuine troll on aseannow. Having been a member of forums and bulletin boards since the late 80s I know what a real troll is. Not a single person on here has yet qualified to hold that title. The term trolling is used far too loosely here, and seems to be used as a catch all term by certain members to degrade others or draw the attention of the mods when they don't agree with a posters particular viewpoint.
  18. Can you define trolling for me then?
  19. I sometimes think that the way policy works in Thailand begins with a leak from some official in government, then they wait to see the reaction from the public and decide to whether or not to proceed.
  20. No, I'm not. It's a serious question and if you cannot give a serious answer then it's you that's trolling buddy!
  21. you only joined on 7th October. What do you know about the way things were done in the past here?
  22. can you define trolling please? Isn't that term itself wide open to interpretation?
  23. ...I thought they only had sheep there.
