  3. for those that are currently married to a Thai woman and have previously been married to a western woman, would you say that Thai women make the best wives? I think the question is quite a broad one and depends on several factors. when I chose a wife (Mrs. Smith) there were certain criteria that the successful candidate had to fulfill before she even stood a chance... they were : 1. Speaks good English. 2. Well educated (Master degree/phd) 3. Has a good, stable job. 4. No previous children from any relationships. 5. Has never worked in a bar. 6. Likes to have a laugh 7. Doesn't mind splitting the bill when we go out (or paying it in full herself) 8. Family aren't on the take (they have never asked me for a penny to this day). 9. No crazy knife wielding brothers or cousins lurking around the corner. 10. Loves to travel. ***(Bonus Points - Doesn't mind me sleeping around with other women/is a good cook)*** Those were my (albeit rather selective) criteria for a woman to have the chance at becoming Mrs Smith. I found mine way back when and we have been married for years. I can say that, on the whole, Mrs. Smith is an amazing wife and she is the reason why I am still here. She has her faults, but don't we all? Do you think that Thai women make the best wives? do you have any selection criteria or will anything with a pulse do for you? bob.

  6. it's all they deserve. the standards of service in this country these days is abysmal. shape up girls, because if you don't then pretty soon you will be down the welfare office. bob.
  7. I wont be going back again. I'm pretty sure I know why the waitresses acted the way they did. it's because they now know I'm not a naive tourist and I can speak the lingo. It's been my experience that many working the bars don't like it when a foreigner speaks thai. My fault really, I should never have let on that I do. Back to playing the dumb tourist straight off the boat! bob.

  11. I used to do 100 baht tips regularly. Now I feel like a complete mug. But lesson learned. And if everyone thought the way I do then waitresses would be on the streets. those 20 baht tips add up. but yeah, they aint getting anything from me again. may as well give it to the birds. bob.
